OASIS MANCHESTER'S BEST The Oasis hit Live Forever has been named as the greatest pop track to come out of the musical hotbed of Manchester.
The band's third single - which scraped into the top 10 in 1994 - beat songs by The Stone Roses and The Smiths in the Virgin Radio poll.
More than 4,000 listeners cast votes in the survey which was carried out for the station's Pete & Geoff Breakfast Show.
Presenter Pete Mitchell said: "Classic Oasis tracks are still loved by the public - despite the backlash against them.
"Their sell-out tour last year confirmed it, and this poll does too.
"The Manchester music scene was and is still is influential.
"For The Stone Roses and The Smiths to have topped this poll even though they have since split shows how influential they were."
His show is looking at the biggest bands from a number of cities over the coming weeks.
