Ive got a laptop with a dvd burner in it, but its only got a 2.4x write speed. is there anyway of upgrading this as ive bought new dvds and theyre 8x dammit! the help think says summit about firmware? any help would be great! it depends on laptop make & drive make (find from device properties) usually you would have to see if the dvd drive is removable and replace with a faster one, but there are some drives that can have "small" increases in speed from new firmware. id check laptop manufacture website first and see if anyone else has asked this before, if no success, try drive manufacture website to see if the firmware increases speed, but i doubt that it would increase 2.4 to 8! i have a 2.4/5x drive and seems to write a dvd in less than 35 mins! im considering getting a dual layer drive, but at the mo the discs are too expensive! hope thats a help! :-)$
