DBTT has TIOBI.
DOYS has BIU, TT, WFTR, IOT, (GOY)HHL, FD & TBWTL.
Looks like a massive victory to DOYS

Why do so many people resort to such a stupid, nonsensical method. What you're doing is NOT ranking the albums but rather ranking the order of the tracklisting. Does my head in. If you want to rank albums, do it by grouping your favorite songs from each album, the solid songs from each album, and the worst songs from each album, and then tally them up. What you're doing solely takes into account the order of the tracks, and thus it's not a fair comparison for the albums as a whole by any means.

I've gone back and forth on this so many times before. I can't really pick which one I prefer so I'm gunna compare them the way NL4E says to because it's probably the best way.
Starting with my favourite songs in order. BOLD is the winner.
01. The Importance Of Being Idle (v) The Shock Of The Lightning 02. Guess God Thinks I'm Abel (v) Falling Down 03. Let There Be Love (v) Waiting For The Rapture 04. Turn Up The Sun (v) The Turning 05. Lyla (v) Bag It Up 06. Part Of The Queue (v) I'm Outta Time 07. Love Like A Bomb (v) Soldier On 08. Keep The Dream Alive (v) To Be Where There's Life 09. The Meaning Of Soul (v) Ain't Got Nothin' 10. A Bell Will Ring (v) The Nature Of Reality 11. Mucky Fingers (v) (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady
Draw 6 - 6. Both albums are as good as each other in my eyes. Some days I prefer DOYS other days I prefer DBTT.
EDIT. Shit just counted again and DBTT actually wins 6 - 5 so there you go, today I prefer DBTT.

INSTEAD OF COMPARING SONGS BY TRACK LISTING COMPARE SONGS BY SIMILAR SONGS ON BOTH ALBUMS i.e - the meaning of soul vs aint got nothin or guess god thinks im abel vs im outta time etc

To be honest, I don't think that they're comparable track-by-track. DOYS is astounding when it's good, but the bad tracks are worse than anything on DBTT. In other words, DBTT is all "pretty good", while DOYS is a mix of amazing and utter garbage. Overall, I'd rank them similarly, though I'd be much more likely to listen to DBTT without skipping any tracks.

The first 6 songs on DOYS are excellent and flow as well or better than any bar Definitely Maybe.
The problems start at TBWTL. It's a good song but it seems like a bit of a damp squib after Falling Down. Someone on here once suggested having it as the opening track, I like the idea of that.
Ain't Got Nothing and Nature of Reality are absolute toilet and should have been b-sides. Soldier on is ok but doesn't compare with the first half of the album.
DBTT was exactly what was needed when it was released but I struggle with it now. It sounds a bit dated, although it is a far more consistent album. It doesn't match the highs of DOYS although the filler is of a much better quality.
I like the sound of DOYS though. I think DOYS has taken the modern day Oasis (Liam, Noel, Gem, Andy) to a new level and is a lot more creative. It wins hands down for me although I can understand why others don't like it.
I think DOYS will be appreciated a lot more in years to come. For me, DOYS is a much improved SOTSOG and DBTT is a much improved Heathen Chemistry.

Putting the tracks aside for one second - on an overall analysis DBTT would take it. And quite clearly.
DOYS is a good record, and it has some fucking chunes on it, if you know what I'm saying. But overall it is repetitive and dark and comes off lacking. The flow is weak as it starts off fucking AMAZING and then just gets progressively worse.
DBTT, alternatively, has one of Oasis' best flows in an album, and also has some mammoth songs. I mean - two number one singles isn't bad at all! That said, nothing else REALLLLLLLY stands out as phenomenal in terms of songwriting, but it is beyond solid from start to finish

In my eyes this seems the most logical way to compare the albums:
DBTT (per song , points out of 10)
Turn Up The Sun (8) Mucky Fingers (5) Lyla (9) Love Like A Bomb (6) The Importance Of Being Idle (10) The Meaning Of Soul (7) Guess God Things I'm Abel (7.5) Part Of The Queue (7.5) Keep The Dream Alive (10) A Bell Will Ring (8) Let There Be Love (10)
DOYS (per song , points out of 10)
Bag It Up (8) The Turning (10) Waiting For The Rapture (7) 'The Shock Of The Lightning (8) I'm Outta Time (10) (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady (5) Falling Down (10) To Be Where There's Life (5.5) 'Ain't Got Nothin (6) 'The Nature Of Reality (8) 'Soldier On (7)
TOTAL :
DBTT : point DOYS : point

I agree with the general consensus - DBTT flows much better and the filler is better, however DOYS is ambitious, bold, and loud with some great tunes.
My opinion has switched often over this, but as of this moment I'ld pick DBTT just slightly ahead of DOYS
DM --- WTSMG --- BHN DBTT DOYS --- SOTSOG --- HC

DBTT never grew on me the way DOYS did, iv have many favourite songs from the album at some point with TBWTL the latest. In time this may turn out to be a classic.

DBTT _____
TUTS 9 mucky fingers 7 Lyla 9 LLAB 6 TIOBI 9.5 TMOS 4 GGTIA 7.5 POTQ 7 KTDA 7.5 ABWR 8 LTBL 8.5
DBTT = 81 POINTS
Three excellent songs, a few other average ones. And then a few bad ones.
DOYS _____
BIU 8 TT 8.5 WFTR 8.5 TSOTL 9 IOT 9 GOYHHL 4 FD 9 TBWTL 5.5 AGN 4.5 TNOR 4 Soldier on 7
DOYS - 77.5
Basically, DOYS has a first side (minus GOYHHL) to rival SOTSOG (Imo theyre fourth best album). But it has a second side that makes HC look decent.
Neither of these are bad albums, but when compared to oasis previous work theyre awful

Does my head in - DOYS should have been amazing, with how the tracklisting was meant to be - the likes of Record Machine being included. I seriously don't understand how Noel has continually fucked albums up not because of lacking quality tunes, but because of his moronic tracklisting choices. The fuck?

Also, when you think about it, DOYS only really suffers with the last three songs (AGN, TNOR, SO). Both GOYHHL and TBWTL work fine in context of the album, and I can deal with both (HHL is a great transition to Falling Down).
I don't get it. Why does AGN even exist when we have TMOS? Who the fuck thought the messy TNOR should be included - it's one of the worst songs Oasis have ever released. So bad. And Soldier On is just dull as fuck.
Why Noel? Why? So close to an amazing album.
I do agree, though. DBTT sounds dated now, but it does flow really well and the clunkers aren't as bad as those on DOYS, but DOYS has the better songs overall.
Difficult one, but it shows that Oasis were back on form. Heathen Chemistry, anyone? No thanks. They've moved on.

it's a tough one because they are both really different. DBTT is more about songs and DOYS is more about cohesive overall album structure. it was cool for oasis to kind of have a distinct "sound" again. with DOYS you had a new logo, new art, and the whole apocalyptic thing, and it was refreshing as an overall experience. Songwise, the first half of DOYS is close to perfect, however the latter half is boring or completely skipped, but overall the album shows more of a focus in terms of a concept/execution. I know a lot of people, noel included, really rave about falling down as being the best, but it doesn't do much for me... having said that DBTT wins sheerly for the diversity of songs and overall SLIGHTLY better song quality. let there be love brings the album down for me, as it was a huge disappointment. both albums suffer obviously from noel's lack of foresight; so many unused/ b-sided tunes: boy with the blues could easily open side II of DOYS after Falling down come on outside, record machine STC (not personally a fan of this one, but it would certainly have been a better closer than LTBL which is a dull thud) as they say... the list goes on!!! i am not a big fan of andy or gem's songs, and can only tolerate liams'. if DOYS and DBTT were both more Gallagher-centric and less "the nature of reality" , we as fans would be getting delivered much more quality for our dollar !

I personally think DBTT is a bit boring in places, especially Andy and Gem's songs. It's also horribly produced (wow who would have guessed Dave Sardy would screw up *rolls eyes*), see Let There Be Love. It's so slow. It sounds really old.
Then there are songs like The Meaning Of Soul which is just pure shite in my eyes.
Most of Noel's songs on it are just alright. Part of the queue and Idle are great.
Overall, the idea of DBTT is not my taste.
Then let's have a look at DOYS. First half is great. I like the second half too, bar TNOR. It all works and flows. Soldier On is a bit eerie. That's the only reason why it works as an album closer. It's hardly Champagne Supernova or something, which is a shame as it would've been cool if they went out with a bang.
I just like DOYS better. That's more my taste.

DOYS
Not a hard choice for me...
DBTT: -Noel's worst output with Oasis -LAG's best output with Oasis -Painful production (particularly the plodding, incessant drums on the first three tracks) -A Bell Will Ring contains Oasis's worst lyrics -Safe and backwards-looking
DOYS: -Some of Noel's best output post-BHN -LAG's stuff is a bit boring but not *bad* IMO -Sardy's best production -Some of Noel's best lyrics -Risky and forward-looking (for an Oasis album)

DBTT:
Great songs: - Turn Up The Sun - Lyla - Importance Of Being Idle
Good songs: - Love Like A Bomb - Part Of The Queue - Mucky Fingers - Keep The Dream Alive - A Bell Will Ring - Let There Be Love
Bad songs: - Meaning Of Soul - Guess God Thinks I'm Abel
DOYS
Great songs: - Shock Of The Lightning - Falling Down
Good Songs: - Bag It Up - The Turning - Waiting For The Rapture - I'm Outta Time - To Be Where There's Life - Nature Of Reality - Soldier On
Bad songs: - Ain't Got Nothin' - Get Off My High Horse Lady
I've looked at the songs in this way: Great songs are the ones that blew my mind at first listen (and still do), good songs are the ones I've liked, but didn't blow my mind like the great ones, I still like them a lot though. The bad songs are the ones i might skip occasionally.
It was actually a close call this one. DBTT had more songs that 'blew my mind', but they both had 2 songs I might skip sometimes. That said, imo the production on DOYS is far superior to DBTT, and so are (again, imo) Liam's vocals.
As an album i really like DOYS, but DBTT had (and still has) more 'amazing' moments. For me DBTT wins this one.
