I also read on the BBC news pages earlier that when a family moved into their new home they found a cat in the cupboard looking back at them. They couldn't keep it because they've already got dogs of their own. So the RSPSA have taken it away and hope to rehome it soon.πππππππππππββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬

Anyone know of any ways to manage tinnitus? I think mine is linked to buildup of wax, which I seem to get a lot of, but I donβt want to pay for removal just yetβit was only a year ago when I last had it done, and it costs Β£50! So if anyone has any tips for how to lessen the effects, Iβm all (ringing) ears! I know Chris Martin reckons thereβs some foodstuff that can help; but maybe thatβs just more pseudoscience. Gwynethβs influence. If you have the ability to see a good pro audiologist it might be worthwhile -- there are some newer treatments for tinnitus that help some and it's also worth ruling out nasty (but treatable) things like an acoustic neuroma or an autoimmune disease. The newer treatments that show some promise involve electrical stimulation of the central nervous system.. You can purchase some home machines but they're going to cost you a lot more than 50 pounds (but might be covered by insurance depending on where you are in the world.) www.cesultra.com/about.phphealthtechinsider.com/2021/08/06/promising-tinnitus-therapy-at-home-with-new-device/www.scientificamerican.com/article/new-tinnitus-treatment-alleviates-annoying-ringing-in-the-ears1/I've seen people say they were helped by high dose Alpha Lipoic Acid, by ginkgo biloba, or by taurine, all of which you can purchase anywhere they sell supplements. There's no real scientific evidence that any of these work but they're not likely to harm you (taurine might make you sleepy) and are fairly cheap. Some also say salt and caffeine can worsen tinnitus but your mileage may vary on that. There's a reddit forum where you can ask people what worked for them as well. Honestly, when you have something that doctors aren't really sure how to treat yet it can be worth some trial and error to see what works for you personally so long as you don't do anything crazy (don't cut off your ear!)

I've felt like the gunfighter trying to escape the law with how close I've been to so many possible COVID exposures and getting it, and all I've been trying to do it, but I feel like today I got cornered once and for all after two years:
My housemate told us they tested positive when they got a test earlier in the week...and the person I went on a movie & dinner date with early last week, when things were still different, told me they came down with COVID.
So my plans are wiped out for the next few days and I'm trying to get a test while monitoring symptoms...*sigh* July last year feels so far away, but I just keep that hope we gotta keep going, get through this and the bulk of the pandemic will be behind us. It's damn sad we couldn't save this from being endemic and also that so little is being done this time around. It's like a more-open March 2020 with a greater sense of dread.

So relate to your description of how things feel right now. It's gonna be a dark period ahead with high deaths again (mostly among unvaccinated and vulnerable but there are plenty of both.) But don't feel like you personally didn't fight hard enough if you get it -- many of us have or will now especially in big cities. You still also might not even if exposed (even with crazy omicron some people seem to escape). Hope you test negative but if you do have it, hope it goes fast and easy for you. Take care of yourself.

Thanks a lot. Great suggestions here. I will certainly be trying for an appointment with an audiologist soon. My left ear feels full of wax now (and yet the ringing is worse in my right... Go figure).
From my experience of having eczema, I can attest to the truth in your last sentence. After 15-20 years my eczema is still largely a mystery to me, but I have picked up certain coping mechanisms along the way through online research and interacting with fellow sufferers out in the world. One of them being cold showers. Rather unpleasant, particularly at this time of year in the north of England, but infinitely better at rehydrating skin and reducing inflammation than hot or even mildly warm showers. I don't know if a doctor would be likely to tell me that--mostly the GPs and dermatologists I've seen all seem to be mad keen on lathering on this bloody awful, greasy moisturiser by Cetraben, and using skin-thinning steroid cream whenever my elbows get a bit red--but the word has travelled down from somewhere that cold water keeps eczema in check better than warm, and so here I am jumping out of my scaly skin each morning when that cold water hits my torso! Thanks guys!

Awww,I've just watched a video of a lovely fawn being rescued by some kind people. It got stuck in some water and when it was rescued the rescuers left it for a few hours to see if its mother was around and would find it but sadly she didn't. So the rescuers took it to a wildlife rescue centre where it could be looked after until it was strong enough and old enough to be released back into the wild. And, while it was at the centre it made friends with other orpend fawns when it had grown up and they all formed a friendship. And, after a while when they all were ready to be released back into the wild together. π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦πΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎπΎ

See Novak? That's how not to make a fuss. Kudos Nicolas Bazire who had a slight reaction to the vaccine and hasn't jumped up and down.
Also: Bart Cockburn (stop laughing) has nothing on Chris Craddock Wednesday. How to race fix 101.

I read that the World Wildlife Fund say that the world is heading for the largest mass extinction event since dinosaurs that will push millions of species to the brink of extinction within the next decade. This is not good and it's sad knowing that many animals won't survive. π

ELI5: Why was the women's doubles final at Melbourne's WTA 250 event ended with a tiebreaker? Good game though. I think they started doing the tie-breaker set last year because of scheduling issues with all the Covid issues and I guess stuck with it. Been doing it in most ATP doubles matches for a while now.

I watched an interesting programme earlier with David Attenborough about his favourite animal songs and humpback whales sing beautifully. And, of course all of the birds featured sounded beautiful and amazing too. Sadly though so many birds are facing extinction or are now extinct even some of the birds here in the UK are now extinct which is really sad.

If anyone in Italy hears a temper tantrum, it's the Gocciadoro fan base after he was given an in absentia 3 day suspension for not showing up and acknowledging his commitment (which makes me question why Global Trustworthy was in the race)

I've been having weirdly machiavellian feeling lately. Ever since I started seeing this woman who's taken I somehow saw it in my head how it'd develop and I was a little hesitant to go for it because it felt like such a big thing to do.
Now a few weeks later I'm in the exact same situation I already imagine; this girl is ready to break her 8-year-long relationship to be with me, and it almost scares me for more than just one reason.
But fuck it, there's no space for regrets and missed opportunities in this life. I like her and we've got a good thing going... If it doesn't work out it won't be the end of the world.
Sure, she's the one with a bigger change ahead but maybe she needs it anyway, I'm merely a catalyst.
