I still don't understand why is this happening in Italy. I mean, we have drastic differences in numbers comparing to other countries. Italy has a vastly older population than the rest of Europe. And those people get affected the most That difference isn't that big, yes they are in first place in Europe but compare them with Bulgaria, it's only 2% difference. And yes, Italy has almost ten times more citizens than Bulgaria but still, Bulgaria 6 people with virus, Italy 10 000.

Guys, it's impossibile to compare numbers with situations and difference span of time. We have been in this situation before other countries...

But that's still a huge factor considering its mostly people around that age who died because of it. Why Italy is affected the most at this point is a combination of different things, government didn't act fast enough yada yada yada. It's very important to say that Italy and wuhan are both statistically abnormal cases.

Thanks! In the meantime the higher ups at my University have ordered the cancellation of all events that aren't actual classes. Can't help but feel suspending classes here will be next. All Medicine Universities have been closed in the entire Country as well. The University of Porto is already considering extending the Academic Year which for me would be far from ideal because it will interfere with my Masters appliance and so on. Are there flights in or out? My sister's moot (Scout thing) may be called off if this worsens. Flights are working here. Unless you want come from or want to go to Italy. Situation may change though very soon because another flurry of cases, again in the north of the Country, ocurrred today. Company I'm doing the Internship at has activated the emergency plan and teams are being formed to work at home. I'm going to be in one of them. My Uni is expected to close in the coming days.

Gonna fly to Poland in the end of this month and haven't bought a flight yet, I wonder if they're going to get any cheaper because of this. I hope they don't start cancelling them though. Also I didn't realise Finland was that high in the statistics ^^

Italy has a vastly older population than the rest of Europe. And those people get affected the most Again, this IS NOT true. The victims are often old (+80) but the virus spreads and our hospital system is near to collapse. There are not only the coronavirus patients in the hospitals. And public medical care system in Italy is damn good. I repeat, I don't want spread panic but coronavirus it's a BIG thing. It is definitely a problem and puts a huge strain on the health care, however an average life expectancy in Italy is 82 and so far the average age of people who have died is +80 so you could say there is nothing abnormal in the virus. As cruel as it sounds it basically kills those who're about to die anyway and for healthy people it's not a threat in any way. Hopefully it'll stop soon though coz as you said it's currently making a huge mess in the hospitals and people suffering from other diseases are struggling to get proper care now.

Yeah, but you are in Germany :-) If Italian government is shit and didn't act fast enough, trust me, Serbian is ten times worse :-) There is joke in Serbia that Serbian doctors are the best because nobody died in Germany from corona because all our best doctors are working in hospitals in Germany :-) So, no need to panic, no need to panic, everything will be ok, no need to panic, no need to panic...

It’s not the end of the world. It’s not even the end of the day. And all the teddy bears in the world grab their hands to fight Covid-19 to the tune of The Beat Goes On.

The only way to stop the virus (in Italy, at moment) is STAY AT HOME and DON'T go to the hospitals. Never! We don't need panic, panic is not helpful BUT we have to be careful.

Me and my wife have both been told to work from home from tomorrow.
Suspected cases in the partners of people we work with (at different companies). Eek.

I have heard - and you can correct me - that if Tom Hanks had been in the US he would not have received the test he got in Qld.

I'm getting really tired and stressed about this post-surgery shit. I shouldn't have returned back to UK this quickly, although the problem was that they couldn't find time for the operation until a week later than I originally planned and I had to fly back to UK too soon (although the doc said it'd be ok).
However it's really not healing properly and I'm getting stressed coz I'm not sure what to do. The problem is that I'd need a specialist doctor for the check up and possibly some sort of follow up operation but even the thought of dealing with NHS totally freezes me and I don't know if my insurance covers private doctor here.
I might try to get antibiotics tomorrow coz it might be infected. The wound area is not painful at all but even though it's not bleeding much it's just not closing properly. Everything looked so good yesterday but after last night it was a step back again.
I'm pissed off this happened coz I felt so positive about it beforehand and thought that when it's done I'd have less things to worry about but now it's just caused even more stress to my life. All I can think of is why is this happening to me? I just want to be free of stress and I've felt like I've done right decisions lately to make my life easier but I'm just facing new struggles. I've been free of depression all year but I feel it coming back again. And this time it seems to be with stronger mood swings. All of these setbacks send me straight to suicidal thoughts and all the positive things put me in a good mood. And I feel bad about the suicidal thoughts coz I've got a family that cares about me and I couldn't do anything because of them but at the same time I keep thinking that if they weren't there then I wouldn't have to worry about my actions. But I guess ultimately that's a good thing, even though I really want to live I fear I might do something impulsively if I knew I don't have any close people in my life. Also my "exit strategies" aren't even something I can do impulsively so I wouldn't say im suicidal, it's more about the ideation that in some sick way brings comfort to me.

X I've been working from home for nearly a decade now and it's fine with me. My job doesn't have to be in an office as long as I can work in a quiet space and all the correspondents go via email and our sharing net work. Some people ask me "but you don't miss your colleague?". No, at least the kind of colleagues I had with my past job, I don't. Now my better half was asked by his boss if he would like to work from home, not only right now with corona issue, but because more and more people choose working from home now. He said to his boss that he isn't plan to work from home at all. We have a study where I work every day. I might have to share my desk with him in the near future which he's not looking forward to. Stay safe mossy and your lovely wife.

Fucking corona virus. My family and uncle were supposed to visit me in glasgow tomorrow but my dad just messaged me saying their trip might be cancelled...
Finnish government has told everyone to avoid travelling and now some countries have started banning people from Finland entering the country so they might stay there after all.

We've postponed our holiday next month as well to avoiding to be stuck in abroad and all that.
Trump banned the travellers from all the European countries except UK to enter the US.
Stay safe and stay strong wherever you are everyone. At least we've still got good music.

Is it really as bad out there as the news reports indicate? If the news is to be believed it looks like us in blighty will be following suit soon enough. X
