Did Flatulence Panic name all bar 2 races at Mons Tuesday? All are named after cocktails for some reason (and I'm not sure if any are free that night) I don't drink cocktails. I drink whisky from a bottle while sat in my underpants in the dark.

I wish I had the words to explain why certain songs can break you into a million pieces but at the same time they also cheer you up in a sort of melancholic way. Does that even make sense?
I've just listened to a song for the first time ever and it made me feel like a wreck, but it also washed away all the negative thoughts and everything that seems to be going wrong with my life. For tonight, at least.
This might sound cliché, but fuck it, music could really be the best thing ever.

Thanks as usual for the prompt and detailed response! I might leave the Springsteen one till I've had a chance to listen to more of his stuff (more than Hungry Heart and a couple of others off his Greatest Hits, that is). And as great as My Magpie Eyes Are Hungry For the Prize sounds, my dad's a bit of a tight arse where buying gifts is concerned - so if I got that at 20-odd quid I'd probably be kissing my Ziggy Stardust vinyl goodbye, y'knowwhatimean? Definitely fancy The Smiths and Led Zep ones, though. And I'd like to know more about Strummer... Didn't Neil Young write an autobiography, a while back? (or did I imagine that?)

Shakey: Neil Young's Biography- A good if somewhat opinionated biography of the man. Waging Heavy Peace: A Hippy Dream- The man's own autobiography. Special Deluxe- An interesting book by Neil Young in which he takes his life's passion of cars using all the ones he has owned as a framework to construct a narrative of his life and career, exploring how memories are attached to objects. The Joe Strummer one is highly recommended though not only as I am an ardent fan but the depth, quality and genuine love for the subject in Chris Salewicz's writing makes it an exceptional piece of work in my view

The Moaning of Life on Netflix. I think I'll settle for this. Karl Pilkington, you absolute Mancunian legend.

I think the Shakey biography is a really good but very detailed (800 pages?) read, so I'd recommend it only to someone whose more or less familiar with Neil's work and releases through to 1999, which is where the book ends. I love it but its probably too bogged down in detail for anyone not utterly fascinated by this man. Waging Heavy Peace is indeed Neil's own autobiography but it feels much more like a conversation with Neil, like reading his own Tales from the Middle of Nowhere. Its good and quite enjoyable but I'd probably say Special Deluxe is a better crafted book. He's found a way of mingling his passions and life story together. There's a lot of good stories from his childhood and formative years in Special Deluxe that aren't in Waging Heavy Peace.

My "little" brother (a foot taller than me) and sister (10 cm taller than me. Oh and yes, they are twins) turned 20 today! TWENTY!
Where has the time gone...
