It hasn't really improved on more listens for me. It's one of my great frustrations that Squire kind of ran out of melodies and Noel ran out of guitar solos and they'll probably never work together on same great tunes with brilliant guitar work.

So, it basically feels like (Probably) All in the Mind but with John Squire doing his bit rather than Johnny Marr. Which might sound terrible as most here dislike that song but I don’t mind it. I don’t think it’s great but I don’t dislike it either. And I feel similarly about this new one. It’s got the trademark (almost to an exaggerated degree) Liam vocal snarl, the trademark Squire “Waterfall” guitar (again very evidently so) and of course, this latest attempt to capture the ‘66 garage psychedelia of “Rain”. I don’t see why that obsession exists - it us a great song but there’s so many others to tap into that haven’t been done to death. The rainbow lines definitely are the weak point. I was hoping for more of a fusion of Liam and Squire’s skills but this feels like more of a direct cut and paste job of their most stereotyped features. Which isn’t a terrible thing (it is Liam and Squire after all) but it did leave me wanting to feel more satisfied. Not terrible at all but definitely not great either. Though it does have its great and terrible moments. You can figure out which is which I’m sure. These are actually similar songs. But the energy is so much better with Just Another Rainbow. Prob All in the Mind is so muddy. I always thought it could have been a better song. Just Another rainbow is what I wish Oasis was doing on Heathen Chem - which is a wreck of an album.

This is probably my least favourite Liam lead single 1 Wall Of Glass 2 Everything's Electric 3 Shockwave 4 Just Another Rainbow. Wall Of Glass is tiers above the other three quite easily. One of the best post-BHN Gallagher brothers' songs. Yeah, I agree with you but I do like the others too.

“Paying the bills…Am I your windmill?” Not the best lyrics but to be fair, it doesn’t seem like either of them are getting a helping hand this time from Liam’s troops in Kurstin etc. for songwriting. The instrumentals from Squire are nice and once the song gets going it’s an alright listen, but the lyrics especially the second verse and middle eight are paints.

Now that I’ve listened to this song for a couple days, I feel I can give some thoughts on it.
I know we haven’t heard the album yet, but I think putting out this song as the first single was a great idea. It does exactly what it intends to- shows off Liam’s incredible vocals, and John Squire’s signature guitar sound. Is it a classic? No. But it’s a really good first effort and to me it shows how incredible both artists are at their craft, and shows that their styles work together nicely. The lyrics are questionable but that doesn’t bother me in slightest, any true Oasis fan shouldn’t give a shit about the lyrics when you recall what nonsense they were singing in the 90’s, it’s never been about that.
Liams vocal take is raw, powerful and one of the best he has layed down as a solo artist. Whoever was involved in recording/producing clearly knows how to use Liams voice correctly.

i am not from UK... and I can't understand why John Squire is so admired.More than 30 years ago Stone roses released one iconic album.Nothing since then. ok, He's a technically good guitarist. So what? Where are his stunning iconic beautiful guitar solos? No one can name any. There are many technically excellent guitarists.John isn't the only one not the only one.Where are the great songs? There are no of them either. For many years he did not release anything decent.sorry, but it's all like some kind of soap bubble. "Just Another Rainbow" is a bad song, but I wonder why people expected so much from this song

1 Just Another Rainbow
5 Everything's Electric
99 Shockwave
100 Wall Of Glass

"Just Another Rainbow" is a bad song, but I wonder why people expected so much from this song The stone roses debut is iconic, its "THE" guitar album when guitar was not in fashion anymore. The Stones Roses are a bit like the Libertines, one smash album and then they just drowned. John Squire has his own style, and probably the only guitarist that can reconcile wank guitarist fans and melodic guitarist fans. Not many can do that. His solos are speaking. They tell a story. I'm not a huge fans of the Stone Roses, I like their record but dont play them often. Yet, his solos are always a huge part of the songs, and they sometimes surpass the melody. Squire has made wrong choices in his career. Second Coming was released too late, and the Seahorses album could have been a great record if the band had been different. They're underrated in my opinion, their record is among the best britpop record released and contains some pretty good songs. His failures probably took his confidence away when writing songs. And his biggest problem was also, too, Ian Brown. He's just a shit singer. He couldn't elevate a melody. Unlike Liam... "Just Another Rainbow" is not amaaaazing, but for a 60 yo and a 51 yo in a world when that music doesn't exist anymore... that'll do.

I quite like it. Kinda tired of the Tomorrow Never Knows drums, but luckily there are many other elements that I enjoy a lot. Liams vocals are amazing, among the best of recent years and of course the instrumental bit is superb. I understand why some can find it predictable, but I actually think it's rather refreshing after a few years of Kurstin/Aldred/Wyatt song structures, and I welcome that.
And on an emotional level, this is a song that just makes me feel good.

It won’t stay at #1 all week IMO. The reason its there is the same reason The Masterplan reissue was in midweek; the first half of the week includes pre-ordered physical copies. From here on, it’s 99% down to streaming, and I just can’t see it keeping up with some others in that list. Like it seems Murder On The Dancefloor is set to be this year’s Running Up That Hill; an old song suddenly getting a 2nd life due to usage in a popular show/movie. So that will mainly be from kids streaming it. Id say a Top 10 debut is possible though, and likely Liam’s highest peaking single yet (no17 or above).

If the song does stay at number one all week though won't this be the first Gallagher number one since The Importance Of Being Idle. I really thought that Noel would've had one or two solo number one singles and it's a shame that he hasn't.

Id say it will be Liam’s highest charting single to date, and a narrow top 10 placing (maybe like #10) isn’t impossible, but from #4 it will only drop.

Anything with them on would have had a chance of no.1. Should have gave the Christmas one a go a few more times.

Yeah I like it. Sounds EXACTLY what you would imagine, and this is both a good and a bad thing.
It's a bit safe and I'd wish it was more exciting, but on the other hand sometimes you just want Liam being Liam.
Even if the song isn't a masterpiece I still have hopes for the full album. In Liam's solo career his best songs are the ones that sound like a real band playing (The River, Gone, ...) so I expect a couple of moments in that style.

I prefer Gem's and Andy Bell's guitar solos over John Squire's, even though I understand he is a technically better player.
