I'm Not Giving Up Tonight (9/10) Pretty Boy (6/10) Dead To The World (10/10) Open The Door, See What You Find (6/10) Trying To Find A World That's Been And Gone Pt. 1 (8/10) Easy Now (9/10) Council Skies (8/10) There She Blows! (9/10) Love Is A Rich Man (8/10) Think Of A Number (10/10)
I guess around an 8 for me. Dead to the world and think of a number are among his absolute best solo songs. And easy now is up there well. To be honest, even pretty boy works well here, despite being the weakest track in my opinion - and that’s mostly because it sounds like a chasing yesterday b side .

My whole thing was to never review the album, ever. Not that I don't want to, but it's just that album's are becoming relics of the past and I'm starting to feel my age nearing my 30s. It was gonna be a 7/10, but then "Think of a Number" and "Mind Games" immediately bumped it up significantly for me.
TOAN seriously, seriously, really made my jaw drop. And admittedly, like I said in the other thread, some parts of the album nearly made me cry. And then TOAN made me sniffle and tugged hard at my heart. And again, jaw dropped. It's such a fucking beautiful album, well done Noel. I miss Bowie too, man.

Might be because of lack of freshness but the three singles are the worst songs on the album for me lol.

9. Reminds me of the standing on the shoulders demos.
I haven’t liked any other album by Noel. - except the best of. This really works for me.

Might be because of lack of freshness but the three singles are the worst songs on the album for me lol. Something about "Easy Now" and the title track that I can't stomach. They feel AI-written. They feel lukewarm. They make me queasy like undercooked fish, and it's hard for me to get through them back-to-back. "Think of a Number" is the antidote.

7/10 I see why Noel put out Don't Stop and We're gonna get there in the end as bonus tracks, it wouldn't fit the album unless they took the spot of Easy Now/Open The Door or I'm Not Giving Up Tonight, which are in the top end of the album. The album itself is nice if a bit predictable, but Love is a Rich Man and Think Of A Number are the twists I was expecting on Who Built The Moon(there were some but Noel kept the same structure most of the time bar on Fort Knox). Hopefully he'll keep playing with structures in future albums.

After a few days since release and a lot of listens from start to finish I’m giving this album a 9 out of 10. For me this is a more mature album with some of his better lyrics and musical ideas. Plus I think he’s been very generous with the bonus material. I have no problem with the production either.

I would say a solid 8/10 from me, has a really good flow throughout, and I find it a joy to listen to, I was not too sure on "Pretty Boy" for example when it was initially released, but think it's a great track (although my favourite at the moment is Dead To The World). Deffo think a solid vocal performance on the album throughout.

I like this a little better than his debut but not as good as chasing yesterday to his eps. The songs I do like on his debut are better then most songs on here.
A part of the problem is dull production. I heard the remixes and while they may not fit Noel, they sound much better. I started to like pretty boy from the cure remix and the council sky remix. There isn't a lot of variety on this album
Noel does something a bit annoying on this album too. He does that shouting thing too much and is a bit whiny in parts.
The lyrics are a little lazy.

I'm Not Giving Up Tonight - I like it, but I find the production a bit cheesy and old. 7/10 Pretty Boy - Very silly lyrics, but I love it. 8.5/10 Dead To The World. One of my favourite NG's songs as a solo artist 9.5/10 Open The Door, See What You Find 6.5/10 Trying To Find A World That's Been And Gone Pt.1 - 9.5/10 Easy Now - 7.5/10 Council Skies - Massive grower. 8/10 There She Blows! - 6/10 Love Is A Rich Man - 5.5/10 Think Of A Number - 6.5/10
Avg. 7.5

LOVE - There she Blows, Dead to the World, Im not giving up tonight, Trying To Find..., Think of the number
OK - Easy now, Open the door...
BORING - Pretty Boy (it doesn´t really fit the rest of these songs, but Cure remix saves the day!), Council skies (not bad, but I just can´t get into the vibe of this song...may change in the future:)), Love is a Rich Man - somehow it seems to me like the biggest filler of the album)
With every listen this album is better and better. Really solid collection of songs, very nice overall mood. If only there was a stronger producer, that would help these beautiful melodies pop out - like with that Robert Smiths Pretty boy remix, that is far superior than that oddity on the album.
7,5/10

I'm answering this after only one listen but I feel like this one is more in the NGHFB vein but richer and more developped. It's good but it's lacks the weirdness I first felt and ended up loving on CY (on The Girl With X-Ray Eyes for example) and on WBTM, except maybe There She Blows and Think of a Number. I love what he did with We're Gonna Get There in the End and Don't Stop though.
I only got it yesterday so I'll have to listen to it again.

OK after listening to it more, I gave it a 7. It's nothing spectacular and I don't understand all the 4/5 it's getting honestly. All in all it's OK and I do love how each song bleeds into the next. But it's a little uneven and there's something missing, but I can't put my finger on what.
1- INGUT: I agree with Noel here, it's definitely not an album opener. The song is OK.
2- Pretty Boy: I like that one more now but again, it's just OK.
3- Dead to the World: To me, this is his best song ever. I don't get tired of it. How do you go from Pretty Boy to this on a record is beyond me though.
4- OTDSWYF: Another OK song. The strings are great but it strangely reminds me of World's Not Set In Stone and not in a good way.
5- TTFAWTBAG: It's a pretty song especially the finished version. He should have put a part 2 on it and made it one song because it feels incomplete.
6- Easy Now: Noel by numbers. Not nearly as good as The Masterplan or Little by Little (does Noel even listen to his own songs?). Another OK song.
7- Council Skies: In the same vein as Easy Now. Just OK.
8- There She Blows!: The verses are really good but I'm not a huge fan of the chorus.
9- Love is a Rich Man: A good rock and roll tune.
10- Think of a Number: That one is great! Again I agree with Noel, it should have been the opening track. I really love this one. It's a mix of Lovesong with the bass from New Year's Day by U2 and the chorus is basically the acoustic version of Fade Away. Really really good, should have been released instead of Pretty Boy since they're kind of alike but this one is way better.
11- Don't Stop: The final version is pretty good. The demo was another 2005-2011 basic tune ala Stop The Clocks/Record Machine so I'm glad it didn't end up as bland.
12- We're Gonna Get There in the End: I hear echoes of Round Are Ways in there. That version is really good!
13- Mind Games: Not a fan of the original and Noel doesn't bring anything to it so, meh.
The only remix I like is Robert Smith's remix of Pretty Boy but the drums during the verses are weird. But I'm never a fan of the remixes on his records/singles.
So all in all, not his best but just OK.

I wish that Noel wouldn't insist on remixes these days and he would just put bonus tracks on a deluxe version of an album which never made the album.

After a week I'd say it's a 7.5/10 , I still like WBTM better but it's up there with CY and NGHFB, keeping the overall quality of his output under HFB at a strong, consistent level
I just wish it had a couple more ambitious and/or melodically interesting tracks instead of the likes of Open The Door or Love is A Rich Man, because besides that it flows extremely well, its variety makes it a fresh and enjoyable listen and there are a lot of good to great tunes
Also, as I always say with every album cycle my only wish is to get those 1-2 moments of Noel's brilliance, the one he's not been able to reproduce in a full record like in the early days, but you know it's there and it comes out at times and reminds you of why you fell in love with him as a writer in the first place Can't say I've been left disappointed when Dead to The World and Think of A Number are there

Also, am I the only one who can easily imagine end credits running while INGUT is playing?

Just got the vinyl and gave it a full listen...
I think I'll bump my rating up to a 7 or 7.5. Overall I prefer WBTM to this album, but still, this isn't entirely a letdown.

1. I'm Not Giving Up Tonight 8/10
2. Pretty Boy 6.5/10
3. Dead to the World 9/10
4. Open the Door, See What You Find 6/10
5. Trying to Find a World That's Been and Gone Pt. 1 7/10
6. Easy Now 7/10
7. Council Skies 8.5/10
8. There She Blows! 7.5/10
9. Love Is a Rich Man 7/10
10. Think of a Number 8.5/10
Bonus track: We're Gonna Get There in the End 8.5/10
Average rating: 7.59
It's a shame the first side is a bit patchy. 'I'm Not Giving Up Tonight' is a solid opener, but then 'Pretty Boy' falls flat by being overlong and having a fairly lousy chorus. 'Dead to the World' gets the album back on the right track, but then 'Open the Door...' comes in; and, while not terrible, it is definitely the worst song on the album for me. I don't find much to enjoy in either its composition or recording.
I wish he'd kept 'We're Gonne Get There...' back and had it at track 4 instead of wasting is on a random (sort of) double A-side release of demos.

Right now 5/10. There are fine songs on it but somehow the album suddenly is over without something thag really grabbed me. I don't want to call it bland cause I feel soul in the songs but it is similar to Liams last album for me. Some good tunes but nothing that left me speechless or really caught my attention. No song, that would make me stop a conversation.
