Ive always loved his prior cover of Wonderwall- and i believe Noel did too. Noel loved it that much that he played it the "Ryan Adams" way for many years during Oasis tours and those solo tours back in the early 00s. It's probably not the best idea to judge Ryan Adams on this "project". It's just a throwaway really, and as a Ryan Adams fan, i gotta say they sound a bit shit, bar a couple. To really dig into his work i recommend albums like Rock N roll, Love Is Hell, 29, Wednesdays, Heartbreaker. Of course Gold, but this one is obvious. As a big Ryan Adams fan I wouldn’t recommend Rock n Roll to anyone.

Wait…….so what is the real with This covers album? Is it just on his YouTube feed or will it be originally released/streamed soon? Maybe vinyl?

It was recorded in a rush when the label rejected Love Is Hell and still holds up for me 20 years later. BUT, i'd say the bsides are better: Funeral Marching, Liar, I'm Coming Over... etc It's not classic Ryan Adams so maybe that's why you don't like it ? Ever heard Orion ? or 1984 ? What do you think of these ?

Wait…….so what is the real with This covers album? Is it just on his YouTube feed or will it be originally released/streamed soon? Maybe vinyl? They’re on his website. Paxam. He releases them through his website as a free download. You might need to sign up for a mailing list Just go to his official Paxam website at paxam.shop/collections/music and if the album is listed as costing US$0.00 then you just click on it and select "Buy It Now" and it asks your name and address and email details (no credit card required) and it gives you a download link immediately. No need to check the email address you gave so I guess you could make up any personal details you like. MG is not up there yet but the Dylan album and a couple of others are completely free.

Orion is a fun throwaway thing but I never listen to it. 1984 I love. Especially Rats in the Wall.

Then There's up and downs like in every of his record because he can't refrain himself to 10 or so tracks. I swear he would have been way bigger if he had released shorter records. Most People cant be arsed to listen to 1+ hour records. This apply to RNR as well, it's a bit long. I don't complain though, most of his records work that way for me.

Rock n Roll is ok but I wouldn’t recommend it to a newbie,
Heartbreaker, Love Is Hell and Cold Roses are my personal top 3

Rock n Roll is ok but I wouldn’t recommend it to a newbie, Heartbreaker, Love Is Hell and Cold Roses are my personal top 3 Probably the three I would recommend myself. Gold has some great songs but probably a tad on the long side. Ashes and Fire and Ryan Adams probably the two that would round out my top 5. I do really like 1989 too, great rethink of the album.

Rock n Roll is ok but I wouldn’t recommend it to a newbie, Heartbreaker, Love Is Hell and Cold Roses are my personal top 3 Yeah but cold Roses is just too long. That’s why I don’t recommend it. As a 12 track LP why not Love is hell just flows naturally even though it’s longer. It’s just his overall masterpiece. Even the outtakes are great. I just can’t not listen to a single track. I recommend RNR because it usually goes well along Oasis fans (but not here apparently 😄😉) I have a hard time with the self titled record and half of Ashes and Fire personally, they are records he’s done already but less good. As for Gold, we’ll same… as a ten track record it’s a masterpiece.

Most People cant be arsed to listen to 1+ hour records. I'm a bit of a completist when listening and with most artists I'll make a playlist of all their stuff. For example if I want to listen to (What's The Story) Morning Glory by Oasis I would never play the actual album from start to finish - I'd go to my Oasis playlist which interweaves all the Morning Glory era b-sides with the album tracks followed by the few remixes of that era. Ryan Adams is one of the few artists where I do the complete opposite. When he has a new album I'll listen to it quite a few times over several days or weeks then cherry pick the songs I like (usually three or four) that I want to add to my personal Ryan Adams playlist. I'm not a big fan of country music for a start so that rules out a huge percentage of his songs. The sheer volume of material he produces means I still have a "best of" (or "favourites" might be a better title) that runs for around five hours. I'll have to go through his last few albums because I haven't updated it for several years.

Never been a fan of his Wonderwall in the slightest. Takes the passion out of it for me, and is very depressing.
The Some Might Say on the other hand sounds good. Nothing on the original but a nice new take. Still slightly downbeat though and a whole album of this kind of stuff might make me as depressed as listening to Radiohead does.

I'll have to go through his last few albums because I haven't updated it for several years. That's an interesting way of listening to music. I almost do the same although i dont mix stuff. I do my own album from album tracks and bsides usually. And then play everything from one artist. I have Oasis periods, Pulp periods... etc where i cant listen to anything else. Weird. I dont think i could listen to a 5 hour playlist though, it's huge. As for Ryan Adams, records he did post 2004 and while he was married and after could use some trimming (bar Wednesdays maybe) or could be one instead of 2 or 3 records. they had a big drop in quality (some Cardinals records, and apparently because the wife didn't like him spending hours writing songs, and well... because of all that happened after that) I swear Cold Roses, 12 tracks, Jacksonville 12 tracks, III/IV 12 tracks... some huge record there. Prisoners is praised but i'm not a big fan of it. He could have done something else with the bsides. On the other hands, this much material gives us the opportunity to create our "own" records right

The song that sounds the most like Oasis from Ryan Adams is this one. An Outtake from Love is Hell, pretty good

He said on Facebook the album wasnt finished so maybe it will be a bit different.
"Morning Glory is finished but you’ll have to wait I want someone else to mix it", he wrote.

I’m a bit late but anyway. He shouldn’t even try to cover albums like WTSMG. He covers Taylor Swift, Springsteen, Oasis and all his covers sound similar. He covers Wonderwall or Morning Glory or Talk Tonight and they all will sound similar . Don’t say me anything about his style or whatever. His style doesn’t mix well with fun and joyful or passionate pop and rock songs. At least DM and BHN are safe

I listened to Hey Now and I really wanted to like it, but I couldn’t. Something about it, the drum track not jiving with the guitar and vocals maybe. I liked the idea but the execution felt a bit off. That said, I’m still pretty keen to hear this, even though the one song I was most excited for (given his style) wasn’t as good as expected.
As for RA albums, my favourites are Love is Hell, 29, self titled. Great bits on all his albums, though I’ve not heard the last few since Prisoner. I think the BBC session he did in 2007 for the release of Easy Tiger would be my favourite RA go-to listen.

Nothing on the original but a nice new take. Still slightly downbeat though and a whole album of this kind of stuff might make me as depressed as listening to Radiohead does. Still, I guess making an entirely different take on it is the way to go, otherwise it will probably just sound like some shire local cover band and you might as well just listen to the real thing. Besides, even as uplifting as a lot of Oasis songs seem in their production, there was quite an undertone of melancholia about it I think, In some of the chord progressions and melodies, so it’ll be interesting to see that brought out more. Because that underline melancholic sound is always there, that’s probably why it does sound quite depressing. because it’s not like you could take blue Suede shoes and make it sound like Radiohead or something, so it’s kind of like he’s just bringing elements out of the songs that are already there. It will be worth a listen although the ones I’ve heard are not great or anything and I probably wouldn’t play them more than once.

I'm still trying to process the whole Ryan Adans transgressions news. The media and accusers has painted him in such a dark light. Not sure how to handle it. This also goes for Win Butler of Arcade Fire. I'm a huge fan of that band and that news destroyed me. I also feel like a hypocrite because I know rock music has an extremely long list of people who treated women like shit and yet myself and the masses still listen to all that music regularly (The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, etc).
