Upon hearing the news that The White Stripes frontman Jack White had written a song used in a Coca-Cola ad, Noel Gallagher scoffed in NME: “Jack White has just done a song for Coca-Cola. End of. He ceases to be in the club. And he looks like Zorro on doughnuts. He’s supposed to be the poster boy for the alternative way of thinking… I’m not having that, that’s fucking wrong.”
Yeah, I can remember that interview very well. But I don't understand what has changed Noel so much these days. This is the same guy that went to Downing Street; he also allowed All Around The World to be used in a massive ad campaign (for millions of dollars) by telecom giant, AT&T, around the same time he made the comment about Jack White. He was never really the guy he sold to the public as the voice of the working class. Noel genuinely covets money. Always has.

I don't care if he is voice of the working class.
I don't understand this.
So, he is doing for the money, so for selfish reasons?
But I don't know. It would be better for him if he is really selfish and not allowing this.
We all know how rich people act and he is their little bitch on that yacht.
What, he doesn't have money for rent?
I mean, is it better to be a God when playing your own gigs or to be little bitch of rich people.
All he fought for was to be rich and indiependent enough that he doesn't have to this.
But whatever.

I think the reality is that today music is not worth what it once was due to streaming and downloads etc.
For Musicians to continue making music they will have to play private shows, allow their music to be used in adverts or sell off the rights to the songs.
Record companies are unwilling to take any risks so are not going to support artists like they used to.
In terms of Noel, he has recently built his own studio and has to pay the wages of the band and support staff so I’m not surprised he’s done it.
To me it is not a great look playing on a luxury yacht or private show for the rich, distasteful perhaps. Just my opinion

I could forgive him for going to Downing St in the 90s tbh, we'd just had decades of Tory rule and it was a different feel then, Blair and the Labour party were offering hope to the working class etc (before the Iraq war etc).

Imagine actually waking up one day and checking this forum. Maybe you are at home relaxing after a hard day at work / school / university or whatever. Maybe you've had a really tough one and you are stressed. Maybe things aren't going well for you in your personal life... ...and you get outraged at a multimillionaire musician playing a private gig on a yacht. Don't take life too seriously lads. Noel can do what he wants. This 100%, and it's not like he doesn't donate money and play charity gigs to begin with, like he just did the other month.

Yes, it is distasteful to fans, but I'm sure Noel will see it as a way of paying his band, and studio costs. Between this and the Crypto gig (not sure there'll be one next year!) that'll have him at least breaking even for running costs for the year.

At least you can go to a Noel gig without worrying about a last minute cancelation because of a sore throat. Or maybe sore throats are more rock n roll.

Noel in 2000 left Oasis for half the tour (Liam drove the band all by himself)... and in 2009 he left the band without completing the dates leaving the fans dissatisfied already under the stage. If we do a math, between 2000 and 2009 Noel dropped more dates than Liam. Liam at least tried, but then health comes first. Noel was much more insensitive

For example, my brother and I continually joke around in every possible way without any problems. But if you have the touchiness of a 5 year old, the fault is yours alone.

Yeah, that's true but like someone else has said the Downing Street thing at the time wasn't so bad but to me he seems to have changed a whole lot more since going solo or maybe it's just me.

If it turned out he was behind 9/11, would you say, "Yeah, but he was struggling with Hashimotos at the time so it's understandable. And he'd done some good vocal takes the year before"?

Let's not turn this thread into another endless debate.
Find more important things to be annoyed about.

This video specifically hasn't been posted before, but the topic of Noel playing on the boat has...
I appreciate you posting this because now this event now has context.
The Jacksonville Jaguar for those who don't know/care, are owned by Shahid Khan, who also happens to own Fulham F.C.. The NFL has been trying to become a much more global sport so they've been holding games in London and now in Munich as we saw earlier today. The Jacksonville Jaguars have always been volunteers to go to London and I believe have been there every year if I can remember correctly.
There have been rumors/talks of the Jaguars possibly moving to London, but nothing has come of this at all. Hope they don't, because the fans in Jacksonville really love that team and are loyal, but not as nuts as Buffalo.
So the Jags have ties in London, Shahid or some exec within the Jags organization who was in London and loves Oasis probably invited him down on his yacht to play a few songs and what-not. It's not different then other bands have done in the past.

He should have just done it without appearing in that little Youtube clip. I'd rather he didn't do that shit but I don't really care. As long as the new album has better songs than Pretty Boys, I'll be happy.

I think a new franchise would be best for the UK rather than relocating the Jaguars as I don't think it will go down too well stateside. We'll see though, if Khan had got Wembley I think the move would have happened by now.
