I think that people are fed up with the Tories to be honest and I know that I certainly am. However, I've never been a Tory supporter and never have been and never will be.

So Sunak won't be going to the Climate summit shame on him and of course he should go.

I see that the government have missed their target of restoring nature which was supposed to have been on October 31st. Shame on them. Mind you it doesn't surprise me since Tory MPs seem to have a problem with wildlife.

Forgive this Yank for asking, but what is needed to call a general election? Does the PM have to call for one? Can the citizens petition for one? Can Parliament vote for one without the PM?

Forgive this Yank for asking, but what is needed to call a general election? Does the PM have to call for one? Can the citizens petition for one? Can Parliament vote for one without the PM? The PM can call one. If there is a vote of no confidence in the government in the House of Parliament and they lose it, there would be one. At the moment the current government have a circa 80 seat majority though, so they've need at least 81 of their own MPs to vote against them in a no confidence vote which is very unlikely to happen. For a while there was the "fixed parliament act" which the current government brough in in 2010 when they came back into power. That meant an election could only be triggered outside of the normal five-year Parliamentary cycle by one of two scenarios: if two-thirds of the House of Commons voted in favour of one, or if the Government lost a vote of no confidence the current government would stay in power for a fixed term of 5 years (unless there was a no confidence vote). But that's been scrapped again now though.

Yeah, I read that he's going now and so he should as he's supposed to be our PM after all. But I agree it's probably because Boris Johnson has said that he's going.

So we had the autumn statement today and it's just the same old crap. But then I wasn't expecting anything new. Full of empty promises as usual.

Time to revive this thread. This genuinely has to be the worst government the UK has ever had? An absolute cabal of chancers making it up as they go along and greasing the palms of their rich mates. The evidence coming out of the covid enquiry alone is just frightening.

By some massive distance Name one thing the government has done that leaves a positive legacy since Lord Snooty Cameron was elected in 2010. Absolute fuck all.

Agree, it is easy to sit an criticize a government regardless of what part of the spectrum they are on, it cannot be easy, but everything they have touched since 2010 has gone to shit. Cameron started it all with his EU referendum and now they bring him back as an unelected cabinet member. Utter kunts.

Matt Hancock has denied at the Covid Inquiry of lying. Well of course he would, of course he lied during Covid just like the rest of Boris Johnson's government.

Was a couple of weeks ago now but Iβve just saw those videos of Liz Truss with Steve Bannon. Isnβt it incredible to think this moron was our PM a mere 18 months ago? Mental.

Time is running out for Sunak and his cronies and he needs to call an election now but of course he won't because he knows that the Tories won't win and he's a coward.
