I think you're being a bit harsh on him to be fair leron. To say he has no technique simply isn't true. The last few outings live have been brilliant from Liam, just because he doesn't quite get there in the chorus on one performance he needs to change the way people write songs for him? Come on. I still think when recording the songs, they should find a comfortable key for him to sing in and then lay down the music. Even when I heard the new song a few days ago, my first start was there’s no way he would be able to sing it live well. The studio version is Melodyne’d to death because it’s clearly a bit out of his comfortable range. You can basically hear it on the recording and where they have had to treat flat vocals. I work with that software on a daily basis for my work, so maybe I can hear it clearly. You can still be out of your comfort zone musically and creating interesting things but still within your capabilities when it comes to singing. I don’t think anybody expects or want him to be a super polished and slick performer but that’s not really the point. Many of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll singers could still generally singing tune for a live performance and carry their song. Actually singing in tune and being able to perform your own song without a massive struggle should be the minimum requirement for any singer. Never heard 50 year old singers of variable consistency? Aside from the fact that no two singers are the same. Some sound amazing in to there 70's, some don't.

Releasing a first single that you can't sing live very well is what is wrong with Liam's career Don't get me wrong, he did his best but it didn't sound good He needs to be more on control of these things, he should care more about the tonality of a song Drop it an half of an octave if needed It is his album, everything should be perfect for his abilities He's no Charlie Puth ffs It sounded good. The end.

He sang the stanzas very well. He struggled a bit on the chorus but it's normal because he's 50 and has Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, and he didn't even lower the pitch of the song. Probably in 96 he would have devoured the song. But today it is what it is. The performance was decent. Later he could tone it down to sing it better live, and for those who don't like it, there is always the studio version.

He sounded biblical to me and the song is great live, I don't what you are talking about 🤣

I was shocked at how good it was..Of course it's not going to the studio version where he can get his breath but he held so many of those notes and sounded powerful and clear. I was getting on here expecting universal praise but that was silly to expect with this board.

Can't wait that this covid bullshit is over so we can go back and listen to music live, as it should be listened mostly, and stop overthinking everything.

Many of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll singers could still generally singing tune for a live performance and carry their song. So can Liam. The controversy of this single performance and song choice aside, Liam's performances of the last year prove that to be the case.

The boring debates about Liam's voice rage on. I'm gonna logout out of here and log into the Little Simz forum, which incidentally I registered for tonight. She's pretty cool, tho ...

Honestly, I didn't think Liam sounded great on it, especially on the first verses and chorus. Though, it sounded like he'd adjusted to it enough by the end. He was going kermit territory a little bit in the beginning. But difficult song to sing so to be expected. I feel like they could have chosen a better single though.

He sounded terrible and obviously couldn't hit the notes in the chorus as was expected. He sounds bad on the studio version too.

Not good, but definitely not bad either. This song is impossible to sing.

Actually sounds better after a few listens, although maybe that's me getting used to it. I think it'll improve massively once they are touring. A big stage for the first ever live performance of it and as everyone has said a hard song to sing. When I hear Liams story about how they phoned up out the blue with it I can imagine someone from Warner listening to the finished album on last day of recording with Wyatt and making a panicked call to Kurstin and Grohl to come up with a mainstream pop/rock song lol. Hope the rest of the album is as kooky as Liam is making out. EE is fine but don't want to listen to an album full of that type of song.

I thought he sounded alright.
Anyone who holds the dream of him still sounding like Maine Road is setting themselves for disappointment.
That fucking hat, though.

I do actually agree that it doesn't suit his voice. This song would be much better sung.much softer and buried a bit more in the music but thats not really Liams thing as a singer.

Also, I can't WAIT to hear it live. The way the pre-chorus sounds, I genuinly think that part is one of the coolest things he's ever sung on. Becoming a big fan of this song. Which bit do you mean when you say "pre-chorus"? These two verses:
Your fake humble called out, got you tongue-tied Your best chance at success got ya denied No, you thought I wouldn't know?
Your life's short and most days are long now Chain of missing links is all that's left now No, you gotta let it go
Sorry if these actually aren't pre-choruses, Genius writes so. I'm clueless when it comes to musical terminology.

I've just watched it and it was a good performance but shame about that awful hat. He should've worn a scarf instead.

Hahahaha that shows you have no ear.... He sounds ridiculous good on the studio version.. listen I've heard him sound bad.. I think he absolutely killed it... I think it's his best vocal performance live in 15 years ... Considering how high the song is .. the lack of space to breath he held so many of the those notes and sounded clear and powerful... It wasnt pitch perfect but it was massively better than most everything he has done in years ... If he can sing that well he will absolutely destroy Oasis tunes live ... 95 Liam wouldn't be pitch perfect with that song.

I agree with @leron I know that you're a musician. I play and write music as well. Some people's intuition is strong. This song is clearly not written for Liam. It just happens that Liam sings it. His input is noticeable. His swagger is there. But you can't deny that it's a bit fakey. Come on.. And yeah, he was flat for 50% of the song. It is what it is.

I loved how he sung the bit electric and how he sung the word and in verse 2 , think he nailed the first line of chorus 3 aswell .. fuckin Jesus are we really staring at a screen listening to his vocals on every word! It’s Liam Gallagher he’s nearly pissing 50, he isn’t going to sound like Liam in 1995 ever again. Was a great confident display from him . I’m glad some fans weren’t around in the 90s they’d have a fit with performances and antics .. Jesus just enjoy he’s still going it was a strong display
