Can someone please dare vote for 1996. I’m interested in this debate. Because an argument can be made.
Until that moment comes, I think Liam in 2000 (but even better) …. [edit: 1996 ] is a good bet.

I don’t know how he did it. These gigs are phenomenal. Blu-Ray release worthy, come on!

Fuck it. I’m doing it.
1996…. I keep rewatching, I can’t believe how phenomenal Liam and literally everyone is.
Such a tight band now.

I voted 2002. But oddly I thought 2002 sounded better than 2000. So you could argue since 2000

I voted 2002 as while he was OK in 2003, I thought the beginning of his major downfall was the 2004 Glastonbury gig.
There’d be times he would nail it, but from 2004 until about 2017-18 he was often quite rough-sounding live, especially on harder songs. I’m glad he finally got diagnosed/treated as it’s clearly made a difference.

He sounds most like the 2001 Brotherly Love tour to me but better.
This little run is probably in my top 3 Liam vocal periods ever. Long may it continue.

I think his voice is very good right now but it's nowhere near what it was during 2017 (in particular may and June) Anyway it's way better than 2005-2008 and better than 2002-2003

I love both those eras for different reasons

I love both those eras for different reasons I need to compare more closely but think I’m with you. Much prefer raspy to nasaly and as much as 2017 was good from memory, it often sounded nasaly but still decent. Now seems raspier but the slight negative it can sound a little thin at times

I listened to him sing Stand By Me at some festival the other day, and he sounded fantastic.
I mean really and properly brilliant. Couldn't pin-point what year he's rolled his vocal chords back to, I'm just happy that he's still tearing it up like that now and again. Long may it continue.

It's a mix of his early tour 2002 vocals and his 2007-2008 studio vocals. Nowhere near his peak but he's faraway (so close!) from Kermit and Beady Eye nasal.

Just curious. I think 2017 has this romance to some people because it was the comeback year. He was very good in 2017 but his voice has more character and depth now to my ears.

Let's say that until May 2002 he had a good voice, his condition started to worsen from the summer of 2002 onwards ... and it continued to worsen for all the following years. Check out this clip from 2003

Almost. Compared to his latest gigs it's not that much of a difference (in how close he is to reaching that note).

For me it's the best since _____________ (insert your favorite gig from 2005). Some gigs in 2005 he still sounded great to me, and it really depends on the gig. I like some gigs from 2005 where he sounds very clear and it's earlier on in the tour, but I also like some of the later 2005 dates where he's a lot raspier and more powerful.

I don't think he's ever truly nailed Wall Of Glass live, don't hear much difference then to now. Same goes for Shockwave. That Wonderwall you linked is great but think he's definitely more nasally than he is now. I prefer his rougher sound. It's all opinions I guess.

I think he sounded decent in the early days of Beady Eye, but I would say this is his best consistency since 2002.

I think his voice is very good right now but it's nowhere near what it was during 2017 (in particular may and June)… The correlation between both is clearly the very very long break before each. There’s no magic spell cast on him, no miracles, no intervention, just that boring lil thing called rest, imposed due to shyte times, one way or another. Every cloud….

Maybe since the early part of the SOTSOG tour
He sounded really good at the start of that tour, by the end of it, his voice started lacking any clarity.
Mostly after that and later tours he seemed to be struggling, and sounding just odd at times.
I was impressed with his vocals at the recent festivals. His voice had a real punch and clarity he hasn’t had for 20 years. It also helps he’s singing more than shouting/barking.
Obviously his voice is never going to be quite what it once was, but it’s still better than it has been for a long time

This is a perfect bell curve, and not one a I fully disagree with, mind - although I still think a case can be made that this is the closest he’s come to 1996 in perhaps ever.
