Really great interview with a very knowledgable interviewer.
Some talking points:
- A second Oasis best of was in the pipe line - Noel seems quite cool with Liam at the moment. The bit at the end talking about Knebworth... seemed quite loving about Liam - David Holmes releasing a song Noel did soon-ish - Could be quite prolific know his studio is finished

It just saw the interview and came here to see if anyone had posted about it. I thought it was great and was one of my favorite Noel interviews in a long time. Also, I agree with The Boss, he should write a book. Would be incredibly entertaining.

The bit at the end talking about Knebworth... seemed quite loving about LiamNice words but might not read too much into it one way or the other. They are, after all, co-producers on the Knebworth film and also have an actual Oasis album coming out for the first time in years. Peak Liam looking and sounding amazing will be one of the main selling points and I expect this won’t be the last time you’ll be hearing this high praise from Noel, especially as release gets nearer. I'm sure he sincerely believes it, but also hard to imagine any producer of a film would say otherwise. The whole point is to say it's outrageously good, a piece of rock and roll history that can't be repeated, and get people into the cinemas. He was also a producer on Supersonic and was of course quite complimentary of Liam in there (at least in terms of his brilliance as a singer and front man in those early years), even though it was, by appearances, not a great time between them for lots of other reasons. As far I've seen, Noel has long been realistic about the Liam Factor being essential to Oasis’ initial success. Their problems, whatever state they’re in, lie elsewhere.

Their problems, whatever state they’re in, lie elsewhere. The problem is that they are brothers. It can be really good but it can also be really nasty.

The story of the fan who lost his brother that made Noel emotional should make him realise lifes too short. Not just him, Liam too.

How that was actually said in an angry (although I doubt overly serious) way, and what he said was "I'm gonna have a word with him whenever I bump into him", hardly saying he wants to talk or meet

Liam barely ever goes to see City play so Noel was annoyed he showed up and they lost. He said they probably lose every time he shows up. Although that isn’t true because Liam was on the pitch and tried to steal the captain’s armband off Noel one of the times they won the league. But I’d say you could count on one hand the number of games Liam’s has been to in the last decade.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess football would be a safe topic to start the conversation, their football team is one thing they both like.

Sad all these years have been wasted away between these 3 brothers.
It's not our place to understand it tho. I have family who doesn't speak and probably never will.

The best thing to come out of this interview was Noel saying he wanted to put 2 “new” songs on it but not any brand new ones that he has ear marked for LP4.

There's also another interview going around with the Key (Quay?) Sessions, and he said that On Our Way Now and Flying On The Ground were 2 of 4 tracks he had unfinished. He's finished those two, has another one finished which is going on the new record, and then the other one, he's giving it to someone else to sing as he doesn't like his voice with it.

I'm glad he's not touching material reserved for his next proper album. Clear the closets out of older tunes first!

Glasto 95 was a bit of a disaster though because the crowd didn’t know the large amount of unreleased songs. I’d substitute Earls Court for that. And I’d maybe include Nagoya 94 and Chicago 94 too.

Well, we're finally getting Knebworth. MTV Unplugged I'm not too bothered about as it's never been one of my favourites. Manchester GMex is a great gig. Finsbury Park is another one I would love to see released. From 2005,well we've already had the Manchester one From 2009 maybe one of the Liverpool ones or the gig from Argentina which is one of my favourites.

Yes, the Liverpool gigs were in 2008. I only have one of the audio recordings which I downloaded off Tubidyhd recently. The Manchester GMex gig has always been one of my favourites from the Be Here Now era.

Good stuff, I might have to give some live gigs a listen in the run up to Knebworth.
