The more I listen to Flying On The Ground I think it’s one of the best tracks he’s released since the first album , love it, looking forward to the interview just as much as the set tomorrow night now and the box set on Friday.

So Liam was kinda right about Noel’s main motive for leaving the band? “But he set booby traps for me, stuff he knew I hated, all that last year, and me being me I walked straight into them. He knew he wanted to go solo. He knew we weren't selling records. He knew we were on the descent and, yes, we all knew we'd probably peaked at Knebworth in '96. He just didn't have the balls to say he wanted to leave. So he set me up to look like the bad guy”

Noel has been saying for a while now that he left because he didn't feel like he could do what he wanted musically inside the band. Of course he obviously could have done solo records on the side and remained part of Oasis, so it wasn't just wanting creative freedom, it was wanting to escape the whole thing entirely. But there was never any way two brothers were ever going to split up something that meant so much, and not hurt each other. It wasn't possible.

Did he say during that infamous press conference that he wants to go solo because he got tired of oasis and want to try something new? Or did he blame everything on Liam? Honest question I don’t remember very well all his words there

Excellent, more of 'The History of Oasis According To Noel Gallagher'. The chief, except when he wasn't. The songwriter, except when he couldn't. The producer, when it suited.

Honestly confused by why these words are a big deal?
Him not feeling comfortable with what Oasis were artistically anymore and falling out with Liam are not exclusive to each other The environment was toxic at that point, and the music alone wasn't worth it anymore If it was all a big plan he wouldn't have left 3 gigs before the end of the tour 5 minutes before going on stage, but it's also quite clear that his mind wasn't 100% in it anymore Had they made it to the end of the tour they might've found a way to make it work, maybe take a break, but then I also think their relationship both with each other and the concept of the band was so unhealthy it was just bound to collapse at some point

Honestly confused by why these words are a big deal? They're not a big deal. Its just Noel doing what Noel does, creating the narrative that suits him best.

It seems all pretty clear to me, it also seems clear to me he's talking with the hindsight of having experienced 10 years as a solo artist He's not even blaming anyone here

Its a constantly evolving story, new details arrive as the event gets further away. He's very good a spinning a yarn.

Honest question I don’t remember very well all his words there No, he didn't say that then. But it's been a long time since and it seems even Noel wasn't really comfortable with that, um, story because he stopped carrying on with it quite some time ago. I get Liam being extraordinarily and permanently hurt by that -- and being especially hurt by his brother being willing to detonate what they'd done together without even talking it through. But whether it could have been talked through at that time, I don't know. I'm guessing Noel thought it couldn't, rightly or wrongly. That's only for them to know (although they might be confused about it, too, as is so often the case in break-ups). It will never stop being sad, though. I think they're both sad about it now ... if for different reasons.

They didn't take off enough time between BHN and SOTSOG and then the longest break they had during Mk.II was something like 8 months to a year (without recording, touring, or doing promo). They needed a year off somewhere in there and some more time off between albums and it likely would've saved the band.

You could subscribe via NowTV if it’s available in your country: www.nowtv.com (UK and Ireland) skyticket.sky.de (Germany) www.nowtv.it (Italy) There should be a free trial on the entertainment package that you can avail of.

Just me?

It had ran its course towards the end, I was at Heaton Park towards the end and it wasn’t the best, they couldn’t be arsed being on stage together and the crowd wasn’t really up for it either, not like a few years earlier. Got a feeling the interview will be better than the gig tonight considering he’s playing in an empty theatre, should be good , on for 90 mins.

Wouldn't mind if Noel said he was annoyed and didn't enjoy touring with the band at that time and I even would understand that in a way BUT I don't know anybody who went to a gig of that tour and said "they should call it a day" afterwards. That's nonsense. Speaking of the gigs in the UK and Europe(South America, Asia aswell I think) this tour was selling extremely well, headlining all the major festivals too and looking at the period 1999-2009 Oasis were most successfull around that time. It's not at all. I've said loads of times, by 2009/2010, by my memory at least, Oasis were seen as a massive band but they were never going to receive the acclaim they once had. They were out of vogue. There's much more appeciation of them now than there was then mate.

He’s not talking about the people going to the gigs though. He does an knowledge that they were mostly going for the hits though. I’d say oasis sold more concert tickets than CDs in 2008. But the music buying public and critics in general seemed to be sick of oasis and nobody cared. That absolutely was the case. People started taking them for granted. Since they’ve been gone their standing has improved. Supersonic helped cement that. Every day the band remains broken up the bigger the mystic gets. The Stone Roses were talked about in hallowed and reverential tones until the reformed. Spot on. They're more appreciated now than they were in 2009. It's the way it works. What's different now is there's no massive British guitar band that has acted as a generational band for people my age, and they've gone back to Oasis. I'm not bemoaning it, but it's definitely helped that appreciation of Oasis too.

Noel is smart, he knows the reissues, and films, and docs will be the best way to keep the flame alive and their relevance high.
