Wasn't the first thing announced a book? Thought people would already be bitching by then.

I've pre- ordered the book last week but I haven't pre- ordered the Supersonic one yet though but I will do soon.

The documentary and one of the gigs, right? Right...? I imagine it will be a similar format to 'There and Then' Talking heads, interviews from the time, archive footage from the weekend etc, and then spliced with footage from both nights. Chill, it's good we're getting something, finally.

I hope this means a release for at least one of the concerts. Otherwise it would be a extended version of Supersonic.
Noel: 'I don't remember anything of it, but it was great'

Chill, it's good we're getting something, finally. Yeah, I imagine it will be like a super version of There and Then like you’ve said. Would be nice to get both nights on CD to accompany it.

The documentary (Operation Gold) was made at the time. I don’t think there’ll be any retrospective parts to this. Unless there’s modern stuff added as bonus features. But the doc itself was done a long time ago. Hopefully a cinema release (and Covid free enough to go see it).

"No on-camera interviews or unnecessary celebrity recollections."
sounds good

Not strange at all. But I wouldn't say it "isn't Operation Gold at all." It IS the footage from Operation Gold but they brought in someone to make it into a contemporary film. Smart and very normal.

I've just read about this on Stop Crying Your Heart Out as it's on both Liam's and Noel's Instagram pages. So we're getting a brand new film then, well that's even better although I would still love to see the original Operation Gold one at some point but I guess it depends on if it will ever be released.

I think the documentary is going to be interesting, just don't get your hopes up for a release of any gig in full. I have a hunch that's not what the documentary is for.

I don't mean to sound like that moany geezer who complains about everything new but...
A documentary would be interesting for someone like me who is total nerd and loves all the set up / logistics when it comes to gigs etc but beyond that I'm not sure who a documentary is aimed at?
We've already had Supersonic which told the story up until Knebworth, but surely a documentary should run alongside DVD / Blu Ray & Audio release as an extra feature that can then be endlessly shown on BBC4 every 8th Friday?
Maybe I'm missing the point. Or maybe their isn't one!

I'm getting used to this now, but this site is truly a skeptic's utopia.
Of all the paths that could have been chosen they chose the coolest and most exciting path: make a real, visceral Knebworth film from a major motion picture production company that will allow all those people-- the people who so deeply wish they could have gone at the time, or who wish they were born then (and there are many of those) or who just have a passing curiosity about the Oasis phenomenon or the way rock and roll used to be -- to taste a bit of that experience on a giant screen or at home in the highest possible quality.
Those evil bastards ... giving the people the best they could!

Yeah I reckon it must be interviews amongst footage of the gigs. I don't think even Noel and Liam could entertain us for long enough to talk for a whole film about one gig. Exciting times, I love the night where Liam wore the big jumper. Well overdue.

Surely the doc will include a full length version of the gig as a bonus disc? Surely?
I really don't see how they can release the former without the latter. It's like, here's a 90 min documentary about the defining gig of this band's career. Oh, but you can't watch the gig in full, sorry.

Just gonna quote this again for those who missed it. This is the director of the film talking not a marketing executive ... the guy who is actually making the film:
“It’s a story driven entirely by the music, a rock and roll experience, told in the moment, like a visual stream of consciousness that is built around the extensive archive footage from the event,” said Scott, who insisted there would be “no on-camera interviews or unnecessary celebrity recollections.”
It's not a talking heads documentary.

There will obviously be an accompanying vinyl/CD release to go with it, there's too much easy money to make for that not to happen.
