I’m starting to lose hope. I’m leaning toward (a) existing song, or (b) one of the recent collaborations that have or have not been released. At best, a one-off single. If you listen to those podcasts, there’s just no way a whole new album cycle is spinning up. Or Noel could be lying............wouldn’t be the first time.

Could it be for one of RSD drops? The next one is June 12. If he wanted to release another EP, that would be a prime spot. You figure video premiere in mid-to-late May. RSD drop 3-4 weeks later.

Well, we'll just have to wait and see. But I'm sure that we'll get to hear some news about what Noel is up to soon.

I believe you and I have discussed this in previous years. Noel would never waste new material on a small scale release. He’s way too old fashioned. He’s always going (or trying to go) big. Hope I’m wrong.

Hope I’m wrong. Who’d have expected him to do a series of EPs? Or just chuck out old Oasis and new solo demos for laughs? Anything is possible now. That said, seeing his comments from the recent podcast written down doesn’t make an album sound likely any time soon... www.nme.com/news/music/noel-gallagher-says-hes-hit-a-purple-patch-in-songwriting-for-new-album-2914738X

I'm still hopeful considering all the time he's got to focus on it. He's not touring, he's not on vacation and he got a studio inside his fuckin house. If that alone doesn't speed things up I have no idea what would. I’m still hopeful but the problem is the studio isn’t inside his house. It’s in King’s Cross. I have no idea why he built a studio there right when he was moving out of London. Also, due to coronavirus restrictions he’s now been able to have his band in the studio. X Those two words are interesting to me. When NGHFB initially launched, he said NGHFB was just the name of his project and not really a band because it was really just him and a bunch of interchangeable studio musicians and he was playing a lot of the instruments. The first two albums followed the same formula. Then Who Built the Moon was Noel and a bunch of David Holmes' All Star musicians. It was essentially a Noel (and Dave) project. Of course then he had his NGHFB tour with the live band including Gem, Chris, and the girls. They then recorded some of the EP tracks and he treated them more like a band. If by 'his band' he means the touring HFB band is still together, it seems that NGHFB has evolved into a purely solo project to more of a band even though he is the lone songwriter.

NGHFB was always a solo project hidden behind the "line up can evolve at any time". Let's not be mistaken. There is no reason for Noel not recording anything the past months except the being lazy part. I mean, the bass player for WBTM was in LA or something back then and they mailed him the tracks to record. Anything is possible nowadays, he doesn't need the band to be there unless he wants the energy to create some kind of live record or something. I myself dont except anything until june (single maybe) and album fall at the earliest if touring can start again.

He has a new studio, and we know how old fashioned he is, so I get why he'd want the musicians to play live in front of him in there But yeah, most optimistic date for an album would be late 2021, my expectation is 2022 at this point But the video mystery stands

He has a new studio, and we know how old fashioned he is, so I get why he'd want the musicians to play live in front of him in there But... he's not recorded an album like that maybe since the last Oasis record... NGHFB was mostly him playing all instruments bar drums and keys, CY was mostly him, WBTM he's not seen a musician, probably the same for the EPs. I wouldn't put the studio building thing and people needing to be there as a reason for a potential delay. Unless the plan was to have a live record all along. But Noel's music is all but that nowadays.

I'm not talking about a live record, I just mean he wants the musicians recording there with him instead of sending tracks over I'm sure him and Paul will be splitting most of the guitar and bass parts, but he's said multiple times in these months he's done all the drums bits with a drum machine and they'll be re-recorded, I assume it's the same for keys and other stuff like horns and maybe strings, as well as backing vocals The EPs weren't all done the same way, I think Blue Moon Rising for instance was all him but Wandering Star was done in the studio with HFB Having a new place I can see why you would want people to soak it in, especially if you're not in any kind of hurry

How do we know this was a MUSIC video? Could this have been advert / commercial for something (e.g., charity event coming up, etc).

Well, the name "Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds" on the clapperboard and the involvement of both actors/directors and staff that worked on Blue Moon Rising would suggest that

He’s done RSD before.

Did Liam write this article? A weekly NME column from Liam slagging off their favourite new bands, grammar errors and all... it would be brilliant wouldn’t it? X

Matt Smith did two videos for Noel. The second one is coming soon. Presumably Flying on the Ground.
