I don't quite get the Get Off Your High Horse Lady one but I guess there maybe subtleties in some of the "borrowing" shall we say.Really? That feels like one of the more shameless lifts. I guess it really does go to show Noel's comment some years ago about an eclectic record collection counts, even the columbia one is almost a full on lift from that dance track. I wouldn't know about posts on YouTube because I don't use it. Anyway, another thing I blame Noel for is putting (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady on Dig Out Your Soul. For me it's one of the worst songs that Noel has ever written. im with you on this GOYHHL is by far the bottom of the NG barrell, you dont see him doing it live as HFBs ,whippin it out to surprise everyone like " heres a song ive not ever done live before" and doubt he ever would, when the powers that be locked doys as this is the 7th oasis studio album, he said fuck all about it ir changed his mind, its just vanished n thank fuck for that I agree with you about (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady being the bottom of the Noel Gallagher barrell and I doubt very much that he rates the song himself much with him never playing the song live. |

Probably cheating on every partner he had, apparently given a flying fuck about some of his kids, threatening his sister in law by texting his niece and getting caught on CC-fucking-TV in what looks like a case of domestic violence towards the woman who probably saved his life. Give the guy a break, dude. It's all Noel's fault who puppet-mastered the media since 1985.
For the record, while I like both of them, they have both been utter twats in the past. Wouldn't lionise either of them or hold them up as some sort of moral saviours. No Team Noel, no Team Liam - it's pathetic and immature. You are absolutely right. They are both vaginas and truth to be told, while I like their music, sometimes it is difficult to look past all this nastiness.
It's just hilarious that somebody would describe any of the two as particularly noble. What gets me in terms of Liam is all the downplaying of the raising his hands against Debbie incident and the threatening Sara via Anais business.
I don't even think that it should derail Liam's career or something. But at the very least, that kind of behavior needs to be called out. Instead his fanboys make all kind of stupid excuses which makes me physically sick.
And before anyone points to Noel again. He did some terrible things himself (the AIDS comment being the most prominent example) and he is lucky that he is that talented a songwriter, otherwise it might have derailed his career, too.

I get the point about LAMB though. It's really difficult to get into a good tracklisting for an actual album. Kind of like how 'The Masterplan' could never have actually have been on WTSMG because it only goes in one place on an album, and that's the end - same as Champagne Supernova. An amazing, amazing songs is LAMB, but I don't know where it fits... Probably instead of Little James, gun to head etc. I'm not sure about this, put it in Put Yer Money's place and you've got a strong single and singalong kind of track in the middle of the record, then straight into One Way Road which would ideally replace Little James It fits for me Issue is then you've got three out of nine songs with vocals on that are taking up by Noel. The most jarring part about SOTSOG is that Noel one-two at 7 and 8. Another NG one at 5 would be a bit much! |

Yeah but where does plagiarism start ? Cigs and alcohol is stolen from T. rex but that was stolen from a basic blues riff and it’s still used in millions of songs. It’s the most simple guitar riff ever sped up and complexified. Noel made it perfect. I see a few plagiarism like shaker maker or don’t go away or she’s electric or more recently holy mountain (I suspect few of them are unconscious rip offs) but cigs and alc is not one of them for me. It’s just a riff that is there like a chord progression. Most people don’t see the difference but it’s a big one. People also mention DLBIA piano but it’s just two simple chords that happened to have been used is the most known song in the world. Stairway to heaven is (apparently) inspired by some other tune, Lennon stole with come together he even had to make a cover album to settle the case. I don’t see the Liam cult having problems with that song or many others. It’s just simple to cover eyes and stupidly repeat what other people say I guess. NG made a comment but it’s not as simple as people make it out to be. Or oasis would have 500 lawsuits and lost all their songwriting credits. They have not. It was Christmas every 3 months between 94 to 98 with all those bsides. Imagine non stop top tunes all year. The excitement. The hunt for the CD you couldn’t find in that store. And then finally press play on that discman on the way back home / school. Great time. When music was worth something. |
