Down By The River = a really good rock gig and it's something different and special. MTV Unplugged = a really good semi striped down gig. This is why I like them both for different reasons.

After thinking a few days about this I have to good with Down by the River Thames. He was pretty good at the Unplugged gig. He was amazing on the river last week. Also it seems like people on here were much more receptive to the Thames gig than the Unplugged one. That had no bearing on my choice, but I thought it was interesting to note.

I'm curious about this, since I wasn't around the forum last year. Were people not into the Unplugged gig then?

I also was not around, but after looking back through the threads for it last year, it seems like people liked it but not to the extent where there was constant praise for it like for the Thames gig. After Unplugged it seems like there wasn't people who rarely post or just observe saying things like "I never really post but the Unplugged gig was so good I wanted to say that it was a great performance." Those types of reactions seem to really have only happened for the Thames gig.

Yep, but I doubt we'll get one unless they can find a way to release it due to Noel blocking it. But we'll see.

Down By The River! Maybe bc it’s new idk. That rest was good for Liam’s voice and his band was really good. But I like WOG and One of Us from MTV unplugged and you can tell it was special show so I will be glad if he will do that string of unplugged/acoustic gigs he contemplated before.

Publishing rights. He needs Noel’s approval for releasing dvd w performance of any oasis song Yeah, that's what I meant in a pervious post. A cd would be ok I guess but when it comes to a dvd it's a whole new ball game.

Biggest issue with MTV Unplugged for me was the fact that they cut Why Me Why Not (tune!) and one or two other tunes from the official release despite having more than enough space to include them on a single disc, and the fact that they were shown on the TV broadcasts! Overall I agree that it's hard to choose between them - a helicopter instead of crowd noise between the songs is a bit underwhelming on Thames, but the set list is great! I say he gets Noel pissed somehow and persuades him to sign off on a 6 disc blu-ray/cd/vinyl box set including both shows (and All You're Dreaming Of on a bonus disc)!

It's a shame that they didn't officially release the full show of the MTV unplugged concert and I don't know why they didn't and they could have released it as a double album if they didn't have the room to fit it all on one disc.

I am still of the opinion that these two concerts contain the best performances by Liam and the whole band, and that they are the most special concerts of the post-Oasis.

I haven’t listened to the Unplugged gig since it was first released, while I keep going back to the Thames one and I’m still amazed how beautifully shot it is. Also, the MTV setlist is pretty shit, especially compared to the other.

I haven't listened to either concerts for a good few weeks now. But that's probably because I'm always listening to Oasis ones. I'm sure that I'll go back to the Liam ones again soon. I did give his Radio X one a listen the other night which I enjoyed.
