Just saw that in last month's issue of Mojo Magazine they ran a "How to buy" feature on Oasis & solo Gallagher albums. Their selection is, let's say, a moot point in many respects. EDIT: You can download the images with a better quality here: Page 1: ufile.io/qcliw1gwPage 2: ufile.io/sbecc61g

Uhh, two from Rolling Stone's best albums of all-time, WBTM, The Masterplan, and DGSS... I think that's pretty good actually for top 5. You get the critically acclaimed, the much loved b-sides, Noel trying out another direction, and the aftermath of the breakup with the rest of the band.
The rest are fine. Heathen Chemistry makes more sense than DBTT, but then maybe that should have been DOYS.

This is a strange list. I wouldn't rank DGSS ahead of any of Noel's albums, let alone Liam's, and I certainly wouldn't put HC ahead of Be Here Now.
It does make sense to me that HC would be ahead of DBTT and DOYS, simply for the presence of SCYHO, Songbird, and Little By Little, even if it's not a better overall album than either.

Is that list supposed to be "what order to watch Star Wars movies" or something?

Anything that doesn't have DGSS bottom of the pile is an invalid list.
Top three is fair, but Liam's first solo album should be much higher, certainly better than the first Noel album.

I certainly wouldn't put Beady Eye's Different Gear Still Speeding or Noel's first album above Liam's first album either. And, where is Why Me Why Not in the list? I haven't actually looked at the whole list and I doubt I'll bother to be honest.

I think the best way to listen to Oasis is just chronologically. There's a pretty clear story across the first four of a band who rise from misery, conquered the world, went into overdrive, and suffered the hangover. Chuck in the right b-sides at the right time and job done. Under no circumstances do you break it up with Beady Eye's debut.

Still can't get over "the lumpy Gas panic!" being described as one of the low points of SOTSOG. Each to their own, but this guy lives in a parallel universe.

1. DM 2. WTSMG 3. The Masterplan 4. Be Here Now 5. As You Were 6. SOTSOG 7. Dig Out Your Soul 8. Chasing Yesterday 9. Don't Believe The Truth 10. NGHFB
Something like that makes more sense imo.
I don't particularly like DBTT but not to the point that DGSS gets into the equation lol.

Noel and Liam look like they've been dug up and dragged out of their graves for this photo shoot.

DGSS would be bottom of the list in terms of quality but it makes sense for it to be in there as it's the first post Oasis release, I certainly wouldn't have it higher than any solo release but there you go

Gas Panic is one of Oasis's best ever songs and certainly one of the best songs on Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants. This guy (whoever he is) needs his ear's washing out.

Strange list indeed. And how a professional music journalist can describe a song as "lumpy" is beyond me. Of all the SOTSOG songs to go for too!
Anyway, based on my average song rankings here's how I'd rate the albums and (arguably) therefore "How to buy Oasis":
10) Don't Believe the Truth - 6.82 9) Standing on the Shoulder of Giants - 7.3 8) Who Built the Moon? - 7.4 (7.7 exc. interludes) 7) Chasing Yesterday - 7.5 6) Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - 7.7 5) Dig Out Your Soul - 7.73 4) Be Here Now - 7.92 (8.09 exc. outro) 3) The Masterplan - 8.36 2) (What's the Story) Morning Glory? - 8.92 (9.1 exc. interludes) 1) Definitely Maybe - 9.36
Sorry Liam.

Never shared the hate for DGSS. The production is extremely conservative and backwards-looking, but no more than Oasis albums post-SOTSOG. There are some good songs in it. There are also some stinkers, but we all know the latest Oasis albums also had a fair share of them. The skip button was a great friend for Oasis fans in the 2000-2008 period
That said, certainly it would not be in my top 5, and probably not in my top 10 either, but I do not see such a big difference with other albums that do not receive so much hate

Be Here Now has more cultural significance than arguably any of these albums.
