That was actually from the same podcast episode from Sunday... Second time this has happened in the last few days, makes it look like he's running to the papers with other things just to cover up.

Don't think so, this is happening just as the masks thing did, someone posts it (I saw an article earlier this morning) then the papers take it without mentioning the actual source (Matt's podcast) During lockdown they would even publish things he said on the pod like one month before and make news out of it "He told the Daily Star" no he fucking didn't, dear NME

By the way as the podcast listeners know this was also taken out of context and taken from a much bigger argument and I kinda agreed with him on how american culture has crept into the rest of the western world and not always for the best

If he is seriously trying to contend that the British would never sexualize women artists and is only doing so because of American influence, I have to ask… is he sprinkling cocaine on his Corn Flakes again?

He needs to have a word with his mates at The Scum newspaper if he thinks Britain doesn't sexualise females.

The "british would never" line is obviously an exaggeration, but what he was saying is that the US have the leadership in terms of imposing pop models and their culture has been creeping into ours for years, but we as the rest of the western world are chasing it They just took lines out of a bigger argument because he name dropped Miley Cyrus and they thought it would generate clicks

Noel's a certified freak, seven days a week.

It's just more crap from Noel. Honestly the amount of bullshit he comes out with these days is worse than Boris Johnson's bullshit if that's possible.

Finally something I'm agreeing with him. I just don't get the appeal of Swift or Sheeran at all.

Can't wait for when Radio X and the NME get on Noel's opinion on the real controversial topic discussed in the podcast: bath vs shower (Noel's of course a proud #showerer)

I remember an anecdote in one of Hewitt's books that one of Noel's favorite things about touring was that hotel rooms had bathtubs he could go for a soak in, while his place at the time didn't. (This must have been quite early on, obviously.)

British music culture went downhill turn of century when we started accepting all the American garbage they were releasing . It’s been a massive culture change worldwide and not for the better , some mainstream pop and rap accepted and was good but just listen now the music is terrible . And he’s right in what he says it was all based around sexualising women to shift the records .

Stormzy, Dave, Slowthai, Lil Simz, Aitch, Skepta, all releasing great stuff.

I’m talking American rap culture , we adopted it when Eminem became massive and it’s never left but got dramatically worse and we just end up with anything being played , the music charts are dire , British rap or whatever you’d call it is different but Noels right who even is today the worlds biggest band?

Bands just aren't where popular music is at any more. That's why British rap is thriving, it's the UK's take on the most popular type of music in the world - Stormzy is our rock star. Slowthai is our punk figure. That's what "the kids" (TM) are excited about in 2020. And the good news if you don't like them is that their are still plenty of great bands to enjoy even if they're not getting #1's anymore: Idles, Fontaines DC, Coldplay, The XX, Shame, The Twilight Sad, all making good stuff.

The only decent rock music coming out of America at the moment is indie rock. And nobody is listening to it.
