I've never worn a face/norse covering mask in my life and to be honest I'm still not completely up for it.
BUT we're having a crucial time now. It's not only myself, yourself, ourselves, but all the people all of the world. I'm always working from home, but I have to be at office past days and therefore I have to travel by public transport. Even in this country where people don't wear a mask, we have to wear a mask in the public transport. I made some by myself and I have to admit it's not uncomfortable to wear it as I thought.
So Noel Thomas Gallagher, stop acting like a big man.

This is also a great example of why Oasis would be a public relations nightmare if 1993-1998 Oasis was just starting to rise up in the industry today. Noel only got brief blow back from his AIDS comment in 1995 and it did nothing to derail their careers. Doing something like that today or something like his comments on masks would do a lot more damage to the brand in the current climate and reduced tolerance for making such statements publicly. Combined with the speed at things move around the Internet thanks to social media and the need to draw in clicks with headlines, they would have been derailed before it even started.

It's a selfish point of view, it's not about HIM getting the virus, its about him not giving others tbe virus. It's been proven that asymptomatic carriers can be spreaders... strap it on rkid.

I agree with him about the inconsistencies, but fucking hell, just wear it.
General point here, and I know this is a predominantly US forum, but the selfish attitude of a good chunk of people in the UK around the virus absolutely boils my piss. 'I won't wear a mask because my liberties are being taken away by wearing a piece of fabric'. 'I'm not prepared to sit at a table whilst drinking my pint, therefore we should just lock up the vulnerable and let the rest of us crack on'. And, of course, the conspiracy theory nut jobs who watch some freak on Youtube and tell everyone that 'they' - they being the governments and leaders of every country in the world - have conspired together to purposely tank their own economies. They can't tell us why though, other than something to do with Bill Gates.
It's disappointing Noel has turned into such a bitter, boring, selfish arsehole.

Nailed it. It's often selfish/self-centered individuals who hold such an opinion. They have little to no consideration for the well-being of others.

I refuse to accept any fucker on the planet has an actual clue what this illness is or how it spreads since they change the rules every 10 minutes. The rules are determined by ministers, not scientists. The fact that said ministers keep pissing around with the rules for economic and ideological reasons doesn't mean the scientists don't have a decent understanding of what the virus is and how best to prevent its transmission.

Noel is now a Karen ie the store asked me to put on a mask so I demanded to speak to the manager.
And the train ride up to Manchester - hoping he didn't visit his mother. Seriously, wear the mask so you don't hurt other people.

It really feels like when this all started we all accepted the need to protect each other and yet somehow alongside an absolutely shameful death toll we've slid back into English exceptionalism. Masks are one of the things, along with social distancing, hand washing etc, that provide *some* help in stopping the virus transmitting. The point isn't that masks are the answer, the point is that we take every small advantage we can. Noel's smart enough, or at least he thinks he's smart enough, to understand that. He's just an annoying contrarian prick who is not worth listening to on apparently any subject any more.

The thing is what kind of message is Noel sending out by saying this. Next he'll be saying I don't want to have the Covid vaccine jab. That's of course they ever find one.

I don't wanna be that person as I don't agree with him, but he's never denied Covid itself and I doubt he's going to do it (even told Matt "not of the virus one would hope" as he told him his wife lost her father) And as for that train trip to Manchester, he didn't say he wasn't wearing the mask, the magical twitter world actually spotted him wearing it
What he said is stupidly selfish, that doesn't make him an anti vax who believes Covid is a hoax and we're all doomed while Bill Gates profits from it

The rules are determined by ministers, not scientists. The fact that said ministers keep pissing around with the rules for economic and ideological reasons doesn't mean the scientists don't have a decent understanding of what the virus is and how best to prevent its transmission. And every group of scientists across the world keep contradicting themselves and others as they attempt to figure it out. Obviously, they have more of a clue than us (the public), but they don't really know yet. Lockdown may have worked, it may have not. We can't tell without coming out of it, which obviously brings its own risks and in the UK I guess we'll now look to get through the winter in a state of semi-lockdown - i.e. schools open but these current group restrictions in place or what not. Sweden and Denmark (who I believe have not made masks mandatory) have done alright, but you can't compare them to more densley populated places etc. This is a totally alien thing and seems to be changing as it goes so we just don't know. All we can do is take precautions and yes, a mask is clearly one of those at the minute. Also, I lost my job and all my work this year, as you may remember. I'm having to start work - for the NHS - delivering COVID tests in October. Plenty to slate this government for, fully agree; I got no help whatsoever because I fell through the gaps. Trying to get the economy started again though isn't one of them, though. There's millions of people who are in my position (or worse) because of this, far more than were actually impacted. Not saying lockdown was wrong - clearly it was needed - but it's just a question of how long this goes in for. I'm happy - and Noel should be too - to wear a mask on a train or in a shop (or a pub if needs be, which surely it's just as dangerous) if it helps speed that process up, but the guidance from ministers and their medical advisors across the world is dead weird. For example, they're allowing crowds in France, and Germany. TdF going on atm and crowds are as full as ever - seems to be 'wear a mask if you want'. It's not just the UK.

He's acting small and petty, and I think this is the first time I could honestly say that I'm embarrassed to be a fan of his because of it. We all know Noel is a twat, and we all love him for it. But this is more than just banter; this is life and death. And what he said was deeply irresponsible and potentially dangerous, if someone took his words to heart. Will someone please tell him that this isn't 1995 and the coronavirus isn't Damon Albarn?

the fact that he's disillusioned with the idea that it's cool to take your mask off in public eating or in a bar or whatever but you need it on in the grocery store is reasonable and actually on point, but it doesn't equate to reason to just forgo the whole damn thing.
