We all know he's not a great songwriter or a guitar player but....
He really didn't start getting into music until his late teens, and he was able to become a legendary singer. Most great singers have been singing throughout their childhood.
He never properly wrote a song until he was 28. While not a great songwriter, he writes great melodies and he has released some really great songs. I know he wrote a little bit in the pre-Noel oasis days but he started seriously writing in his 20s and has had success. That's rare.
He didn't know how to play guitar during the DM, WTSMG years. Apparently he taught himself well enough where he could demo songs and has now even played guitar on two released tracks (start of When I'm in Need, Once (demo). Again, he didn't play guitar until his late 20s.
To various levels he's succeeded as a singer, songwriter, and guitar player and he started all of these much later than most people with success do. It's actually a pretty incredible feat.

I mean don't get me wrong, the man is truly talented but his songwriting and guitar playing is average at best. The songs that he wrote by himself are pretty rudimentary and definitely not anything special compared to Noel's output but I think that's the charm of them to be honest.
Learning to play guitar when you're in your late 20s isn't a magnificent feat, especially when it's evident he only really knows how to play basic chords.
Also FYI I'm pretty sure he played acoustic guitar on I'm Outta Time and Songbird.
