Can't hide away from this thing forever. As naff as the UK government and the experts were at the start, 'herd immunity' - in one form or the other, preferably a vaccine - is the only thing that can combat it.
Don't see anything wrong with announcing the gig and if it needs to be put back, it will be.
The government in the UK will want stuff back up and running as soon as it's possible to do so. Ongoing lockdowns will kill more people than this virus will.
Just have to hope all governments have a strategy in place moving forward because complete economic collapse is ludicrous.
Anyway, lovely gesture from Liam and hopefully it goes ahead.

I think he has announced it now as a boost to the NHS staff currently working this awful situation. It will happen when it happens. Quite right. Much better to have it booked in theory, and have a little hope. People are realistic.

This was really nice of Liam to do ! I wonder if this is the gig where he supposedly wanted Oasis to reunite ? Either way Noel declining a charity gig once again will make him look bad... I think the least Noel could do, is come out for an appearance for one song...

He might do his own thing or nothing at all but I don’t think he owe’s it to anyone to turn up for a reunion thing.

Anyway, lovely gesture from Liam and hopefully it goes ahead. I don’t think hiding is really what anyone is doing and if it is hiding it’s with good reason to protect our most vulnerable. Of course. My point is more that we - along with most of the west - were unprepared and it shows, despite having had the time to have some preparation other than economic collapse. I've lost my job and currently having to rely on universal credit, but I'm one of the lucky ones - I have a roof over my head and don't have a family to feed and work will come back at some point. There were better ways to protect the vulnerable than complete, indefinite lockdown if we had been better prepared - even if a period of lockdown was always going to be required. But we weren't and it is what it is. The lockdown will hopefully start to show results over the next week or so in terms of confirmed cases and then it's about maintaining it for however long is needed that the NHS can handle the next wave without the country having to all-but shut down for the year. More people will die from an economic collapse - which will lead to more cuts and austerity over the next five/10 years etc - than the virus itself.

Will we be able to buy tickets on the secondary market? I should hope not, the last thing we want is scumbags making money from this.

An ID card is required for entry yes, but what's stopping these scumbags buying the tickets then selling them to the NHS staff?
They should of done it so you prove you're NHS before buying tickets
I don't actually know how it was done 100% But I think it was the first option, which makes me think scumbags will be selling them somewhere

People will buy them then cry all over twitter when they get refused entry, furiously @ ing Liam to come out and personally sort out the door staff.

Yeah I've just read that on Stop Crying Your Heart Out. I didn't think that the gig would go a head this year.

Does anyone still know if this is happening on May 23rd? I feel like this NHS gig hasn't been mentioned at all and if it is still happening in late May that isn't too far away.

I don't think that this gig is going to happen this year, well not in May anyway. But it does seem strange that Liam hasn't mentioned it for a while though.

So far as I have seen in trade papers, indoor concerts are currently planned to return in England in May, but WITH very limited capacity and social distancing (which Liam has understandably said no thanks to), but even that is obviously contingent on low infection numbers. Have seen people ask Liam in his twitter replies about the NHS concert but he never answers those, presumably because he doesn't have an answer. My guess is they are still waiting to try to figure out his Fall schedule (as well as anyone can) before rescheduling yet again ...

It would be nice if they could use it as a trial, full crowd event considering all NHS staff should have been vaccinated by now surely? Maybe make it PPV on TV to raise money as well. Just a thought.
