For all I know I might have had it but not had any symptoms. I still wear a face mask when I'm out and about as it doesn't bother me wearing one at all.

Hope it gets over fast, Tom! Take care. Drink up, rest up and when your head starts to clear, go see the rock and roll doctor ...

Get well soon, tomlivesforever! We had it 2 months ago despite we’ve been very careful and alert past 2 years. We had very mild symptoms though. Take care!

Covid cases are still on the rise in the UK due to two new strains of Omicron .

I read on the BBC news pages earlier that Covid cases have jumped rapidly in the UK in a week due to the new strains. In the last few weeks there has been a change in the way 'cases' are counted in the UK.
Up to now a 'case' was a person, so if someone tested positive for covid several times they counted it as one 'case'.
It has now been changed so that each positive test counts as a case.
Whatever your view on the way 'cases' are to be counted in a sensible way, this change meant that an increase in 'cases' during june and going forward was inevitable, without there necessarily being an increase in the number of 'positive tests' or the number of actual 'covid infections' if you like.

Thanks for that as I didn't realise that. But I think that we'll always get new strains of the virus so cases will go up and I don't think that Covid will ever go away. Also, I read the other day that cases will rise this year because of big gatherings which is understandable.

I see that Covid cases are still on the rise in the UK because of those two new strains. And, what do our useless government do? Nothing that's what as they're too involved in the next PM to care.

Nothing that's what as they're too involved in the next PM to care. just to be clear, *in the uk* the definition of 'cases' as I explained above recently changed, leading to an increase in numbers.
also, it's always best to check the data source of the news article you are reading. This is important because *in the uk* many use ONS data, which is an estimate based on a small proportion of people who have been taking weekly tests for (in some cases) more than two years specifically for ONS use. These figures are then extrapolated to cover the entire population. (Also, the population figures they use can be as much as ten years or more out of date, therefore naturally inflating percentage figures).
UKHSA figures are based on NHS data which can be more accurate and specific within certain parameters.
No bias here, just getting fed up with some people being needlessly worried and scared by some media sources which seem to be acting like tabloids of old and using data to present a particular view of a situation for whatever reasons.
I get particularly upset when this leads to seeing old people walking down the street on a hot day wearing a mask when there's no one else around and absolutely no chance of catching an air-borne virus of whatever type.

OK well even so we know that cases are rising because of those two new strains and I think that face masks should still be worn in crowded indoor shops and spaces. This is why I can't understand why no action has been taken to prevent the spread. Anyway, thanks for the info.

I've been wearing a face mask for two years now so it doesn't make any difference to me to keep wearing one.

So according to the BBC news pages Covid cases have peaked and the number of cases are slightly down from the previous week which is good I guess. But cases will always be up and down and it won't stop me from wearing a face mask when I'm out and about even when cases are down.

So Covid cases are falling across the UK according to the BBC news pages. That's good news I guess but the numbers are still far too high.

I see that Covid cases are going up again in the UK but they'll always be up and down. It'll soon be time for my booster jab again. That's come round quickly.

NY Supreme Court just ruled that all unvaccinated NYC employees are reinstated to their full employment and are entitled to back pay in salary from the date of termination.
“Being vaccinated does not prevent an individual from contracting or transmitting Covid-19. As of the day of this Decision, CDC guidelines regarding quarantine and isolation are the same for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.” -Hon. Ralph J. Porzio

It’s a mistake to allow people to return to their careers and be able to provide for themselves and/or their family? If the jab has never prevented contracting/transmitting Covid, why should people have been fired for not wanting to take it?

It’s a mistake to allow people to return to their careers and be able to provide for themselves and/or their family? If the jab has never prevented contracting/transmitting Covid, why should people have been fired for not wanting to take it? It's a mistake that we reward ignorant people for their selfishness and stupidity. It's cost millions of people their lives. Lives matter. If these assholes want to provide for themselves and cooperate in society, then they need to get the vaccine. It's the very least that they need to do as citizens.
The vaccine was never about preventing contraction or transmission 100%. It was about mitigating the problem and preventing it from becoming as widespread as it did. This was easily possible. Ignorant and selfish people made that fear become reality. Those who continue to refuse vaccines allow this virus to thrive and continue to kill.
The best solution as I see it for those who refuse vaccinations is higher taxation. Higher taxes for those who refuse to cooperate with society. Make them at least more financially accountable for all the damage they wrought, both to health and to the finances of others (medical bills and such).

China was heading to another lock down to reach their zero Covid goal. What a joke.

In the US, we were initially told by multiple people in positions of power (even the president) that if you got the jab you could not contract or transmit Covid, so your statement about it never being about preventing contraction is false. Also, if it was “never about preventing contraction/transmission,” how would the jab prevent Covid becoming widespread, as you stated? And can you explain how it was “easily possible” to stop spread and that “those who refuse the vaccines allow the virus to thrive and continue to kill” when the companies that created it admit it does not have the ability to prevent getting/spreading Covid?
