In Los Angeles, the mask mandate is back as of Sunday due to rising hospitalizations (among unvaccinated mainly.) Delta is doing its thing here now. But what is happening in England is pretty insane. Β Ending all restrictions just as hospitalizations are skyrocketing is a weird form of public health. Apart from an expected rise in deaths (which the government seems willing to accept), England can screw the whole world with these ultra-high infection rates because the virus will happily mutate away with all that activity. Fingers crossed it doesn't find a way to get past the vaccine. Take care out there if you are not yet fully vaccinated. Johnson and his merry band of kunts donβt care. All they care about is money and business.

More than 85% of adults above 18 yeas old had at least the first shot and about a half of them got second one over here. Around me there's nobody who hasn't got vaccinated yet and that's a good thing. Yet we're following UK's case. The number of positive tested people are dramatically rising and The Netherlands are code red zone now. We hit the highest number of positive tested people yesterday since the outbreak of Covid-19. The situation is worse than a year ago. Second jag today. Hopefully no reaction like the first time! Got my second one 2 weeks ago and I didn't feel anything at all this time. A day after the first time I was tired and lazy and had a red spot on my arm where it got vaccinated for a couple of weeks, but it's gone now. Hope you won't have a side effect!

Meanwhile another 50,000 cases have been reported today. I won't be surprised if it's the same number for a few weeks yet.

Real smart to travel to Sydney, stand shoulder to shoulder, get Covid then take it to areas that don't have it, real fucking smart.

So Boris and his chancellor mate are now self isolating in a dramatic u turn due to being in contact with Javid. Talk about one rule for them and another for everyone else.

It's absolutely stupid and horrendous but will Boris Johnson listen to advice from anyone? No of course he won't. It's not only dangerous but it's also reckless. I'm pleased to say that when I went to Morrisons first thing this morning most people were still wearing a face mask and there wasn't many who weren't.

Cases were around 50 a day when I last read about Wales, they are now over 2000.

I've just read on the BBC news pages that Covid cases are at record levels for 20 to 29 year olds. Mind you, this doesn't surprise me and now that night clubs are open again the numbers will be higher.

I read on the BBC news pages earlier that Covid cases are continuing to rise in the UK due and the latest figures don't include yet the final unlocking of lockdown rules.

So Covid cases are down for the third day running in the UK latest daily figures show. But the figures don't include the final unlocking of lockdown. Yet yesterday it said in the news that Covid cases were continuing to rise in the UK.

So we have less cases now, but more people on the IC's.
I'm not really sure what they should do about that. People are getting vaccinated, we have the basic rules of washing hands, keeping distance, etc. what else?

So we have less cases now, but more people on the IC's. I'm not really sure what they should do about that. People are getting vaccinated, we have the basic rules of washing hands, keeping distance, etc. what else? I know people are bored of hearing it, but not enough people are vaccinated in any country in the world right now. Even in Israel they are having increases due to Delta. Vaccination has to be 80% or higher with a variant as infectious as Delta to stop surges and no one is there yet. UK has overall 54.8% of its population vaccinated. That's pretty good compared to most places, but not enough to halt infections, especially in areas with a lot of density, high public transportation usage and no restrictions. There's also a lot of inequity everywhere, including England, where vaccination rates are extremely low in some poorer urban areas. A lot more work could be done to help more people get vaccinated. There will always be some holdouts but the hope would be to limit those to the very fringes. We'll see how it goes. You have more people hospitalized now because that reflects cases from 3-4 weeks ago. Fingers crossed the numbers don't spike again in a few weeks from now and that this wave has peaked.

I believe after all it's us, people who have a control if we really want to get rid of this pandemic or not. You can blame governments, but when I see a thousand (or more) people gathering demonstrating against all those restrictions and all those conspiracy theory believers, I realise more and more how fool we are.

I see that our useless Health Secretary has apologised for 'cover' Covid remark on Twitter. He said people should no longer 'cover' from Covid. What a stupid bloody idiot.

You can blame governments, but when I see a thousand (or more) people gathering demonstrating against all those restrictions and all those conspiracy theory believers, I realise more and more how fool we are. For sure there are fools galore but also there are a lot of decent but really misinformed and confused people. Here in the US, we see stories on the news lately of unvaccinated people dying with Covid who are crying and and pleading and saying that they thought it was just a hoax, and I find it honestly very sad that people were so deluded by others--in some cases powerful politicians, celebrities and media personalities--that they were led to an unnecessary death. It didn't have to be this way. Governments can't stop people from acting stupidly but public health does fall to governments to manage--and some governments have been much better at it than others. Really it is always going to be both in a global crisis: governments need to step up and help the people and people need to step up and help each other. I do wish though I had more faith in both for the future!

I think that it's both as some Governments (like ours) are to blame especially when they're sending out confused and mixed messages. But yes, some people are to blame too especially young ones who don't seem too bothered. I read on the BBC news pages last week how at one night club it was like new year where people were hugging and kissing each other which is absolutely stupid. That's just one example of how some people don't seem too bothered about it all.
