Starting midnight we'll be in complete lockdown, because people are assholes and they're taking the "free" time to go on vacation to beach cities. Idiots

People are still flocking to the pubs in UK. Too much arrogance about it until it affects someone they care about.

Apparently in Finland it's the old people who're still out in town doing their usual stuff. The government is planning to put the whole country in lockdown to protect the elder but at the same time loads of them are so stubborn about their living habits that they're still out there doing their usual business which consists of betting/gambling and hunting for weekly offers in grocery stores. Luckily the government already shut down all the slot machines so now they have to move to internet. They should do the same with betting/lottery.

I’m heart broken about the stories coming from Italy. Currently stressed because the wave is about to break on us here in Seattle and our hospitals are already running out of gloves, masks, and gowns. I’m really worried about NYC too. Hopefully staying in our homes will slow the virus enough to keep the hospitals from being overwhelmed with new patients. Just have to keep moving forward one day at a time. It’s going to be a long 12-18 months. Take care everyone

We are taking things quite seriously here in Spain as there has been more than 500 deaths already, and it hasn't even peaked yet. The numbers are similar to flu season, but we don't know how this could end up if things go out of control. This post aged fast. In two days we doubled the number, 1002 deaths now.

Finally closing tonight along with cafes, restaurants, nightclubs, cinemas, gyms. Never thought I'd see something like this in my lifetime, weird times.

I’m very fortunate to still have my parents both in their 70s. I’m glad to be at their house, otherwise I’d be isolated in my tiny 300 sq ft apartment! Being around them helps me tremendously. (Although it will get trying after a few weeks of this, which is normal).
Please look after your mental health too during this time - I can’t stress that enough.
It’s going to be a challenge, but we all will get through this together.

How about we all reconvene in January, and literally restart 2020 from then?
Just pretend the prior 12 months never happened.
Simples.

Went for a little fifteen minute walk today, got a weird kick out of how me and random strangers would silently walk around cars the opposite way to avoid walking past each other. It's the most anti-social form of community spirit I've ever experienced.
Nice day, though, enjoyed the walk.

It's interesting to read this thread while living in Russia. Yep, we also have investigations by government, TV doing news about epidemic, no big entertainment events and even some fake news 'bout dat. But people have no panic with that. The only thing that disappeared are masks but I've seen about... maybe 10 people wearing it during this week (and I live in city-millionaire called Nizhny Novgorod). We have the same amount of food in markets as usual, no empty shelves, no price raising. Most people think that the whole world is doing alarmism and too scary 'bout virus. Schools and universities will close just in next Monday but kids are walking in the streets and malls withous masks and without any fear. Underground is not closed. Even army conscription is not delayed and will begin on 1st April (just imagine how many newbies will be in army hospitales to check for health before serving). We don't have so much deaths beсause of it (iirc, we have 253 infected and 'only' one death). And no panic again.
