This is brilliant! Was it for charity? I can’t see a link to donate so maybe not. Thanks for sharing, I’d have missed out. I’ve not heard of them, I’ll load them up for the drive home from work. Looking forward to it, thank you 😊

New single out today, not sold on it. Vocal is great as always but it is really poppy. Might warm to it. Not confident on this album, Silver was phenomenal but for me Life is a Game of Changing, The Glow and now Learning Alive are just okay

Like the new tune.
Does feel like it cuts short though - should go on for longer.
It's solid. Just a nice pop song.
Not technically a single but fine to release it in my book. Only thing is when the album now comes it's only 6 new songs (well, 7 record versions unheard), but oh well!

It feels like a song which should be 4 mins squeezed into 3, if you get me!

Learning Alive is a weird one for me.
I do like it. It definitely wouldn't have felt out of place on either of Liam's solo records - it has that kind of vibe to it.
Obviously I'm not the biggest fan of songs like Once, so I don't want to be hypocritical, but as far as 'ballads' go it's definitely up there in terms of what DMA's have done so far – and in fairness, Once has grown on me too.
You could definitely imagine Liam singing those lyrics.
Tommy absolutely nails it. Can see the producers ensured to make his vocals front and centre in this album.

I really really love it, it needs one beat before he comes in and I agree it cuts short, after it finished I thought ... ah is that it?😂
His vocal ability is incredible, I’m aching for the album.

From the now five songs we've heard from the album (including live versions of Hello Girlfriend) each song is of a slightly different style and I love it. Really glad there's so much hype around it (controlled hype, like) among the wider DMA fanbase, too. Because their fanbase is definitely getting bigger and bigger.

New tune would fit on a Busted album.

New tune would fit on a Busted album. Yeh it is very poppy. The structure of going straight into the verse and having a chorus in 30 seconds etc. Then again, they're a pop band, albeit one with rockier influences. I do actually like it – I can't get the chorus out of my head so that's a good sign I suppose. To me it's more Coldplay (that type of pop) than your Busted/McFly stuff but I do see the comparisons. I am hoping there's gonna be some heavier songs which have been saved though.

Also worth noting a lot of these tunes have been knocking about for years as demos / little odd parts etc.
Their songwriting style has always been very 'poppy' (in the sense that Oasis' was) – it's just they now have the budget to match and have decided to go a certain way with the production.
Tommy's voice is clearly what they're trying to make front and centre.

Wow. Silver really had me hyped. Unfortunately every song they released since has been a big letdown. It sounds stale, soulless and manufactured compared to the older way more catchy stuff, to my ears anyway. I don't even think the production is better, it's just cleaner, after the book and safe, which doesnt really fit their sound. There's nothing special about this. Sure if that's what they aim for, good for them. I might aswell put on the radio and listen to commercial manufactured crap there instead. I'm really disappointed they're going down this route, thought they knew better. Guess money's all that matters in the end. Now i'm going back to bed to continue crying myself to death.

They've said in every interview for the last year that they wanted to go this way – they're a pop band and they want to do a pop record. Johnny makes a really good point in this interview that they don't care what the fans want, they're doing it for themselves (Noel has made this point a lot in the last few years) There's been four singles from the album so far and each one has been different. They've also said they're already on with recording material the way they did for the first album, but they wanted to try things out. These songs on this album - from what we've heard - are songs made for bigger venues; bigger venues they're now playing (or will be, in a few months or next year hopefully). They're good enough musicians to then make their old sound translate to the bigger venues too. And it's always worth waiting to hear how songs sound live when possible too. LIAGOC, for example, sounds a complete beast live.

Finished my first listen of the album right now, it's better than what some separate singles suggested. Never Before, the opening track, is great, reminds me a lot of the track For Now but with Primal Scream vibes. The sequence The Glow/Silver/Life Is a Game is huge, impossible to not get mad with it. Criminals is possible the weakest track, then comes Strangers, loved it, pushed me back to some solo stuff from Johnny Marr. Learning Alive is great, but Hello Girlfriend... what a track, they did it very well on the studio (much powerful than some live recordings I listened before). After this, they still had energy to Round & Around, an instant favourite.
Need to listen a few more times to assimilate the new tracks, but it's a very good album indeed.

I've bought the Brixton Academy gig separated on DMA'S official store (for only £0,99) and now it's available to download, but it's a single file, no split tracks. Good price, but lazy job... Need to put Audacity on action again.

Enjoying the new album but I can't help but feel the tunes that we hadn't heard before the album released lack in melody a bit, maybe I will change my mind with more listens, I probably will. Just feel like on some songs the melody is leading to something great and it kind of stagnates. Will post a more in depth review when I get a chance.
