Do like it, not as good as Silver but that song is pretty special in my opinion. Hope they still keep their raw edge as seen a few people saying it's sounding a tad over-produced compared to their earlier stuff but I guess it's just a natural progression the bigger they get. Listened to a few songs by that PLANET and really like them so nice one for putting me on to them.

my they've really gotten poppy much prefer the harder edged bands out now from down under to this I'm all for it because I know these lads are doing their own thing. They're making songs for bigger venues and stuff. I can't remember it from the time, and not comparing in terms of quality, but there's a big gap between DM and MG in terms of 'poppiness' when you think about it, too. They've also mentioned how they're willing to go back to do more 'punkier' stuff, but they're just having fun with more of a budget now and seeing where it goes. I think the singles they've put out recently have probably been as much to test new waters. I think the album will be a bit of a mix - though Hello Girlfriend is probably one of their poppiest tracks and that's on the new album so, who knows.

If that had been released 15 years ago it's a top-five single IMO. I don't know if you caught them live at Brixton but they still sound big - it really helps having the six of them on stage. So even if the records maybe get a big poppier, I think they'll keep beefing them up live. And no worries. Yeh I like PLANET. Been listening to their new EP a lot in the last few days. I'm not a Gerry C fan so needed something new to fill the void other than his album. They supported DMA's at The Plug in Sheffield at the start of the For Now tour (May 2018) and we met a few of them - though not Johnny's brother. Really nice lads from what I remember. They mentioned the gig had been postponed by half-hour cause either Tommy or Mason (can't remember which) had ended up on a bender the night before and never made it back to the bus haha.

Know I bang on about it but if there's anyone new to the band in this thread, and you have the time, watch that full gig next week.
Talk about seminal moments for a band. Well that was one.

I’m not that keen on The Glow, just as I’m not with Life Is A Game of Changing. They’re very good tunes, typical “singles” which have been put through the radio filter for the mass market. Totally understandable, but not for me. I won’t skip them when I get the album, I’m sure they’ll sit nicely with the other tracks.
In contrast, the link to Silver at Brixton is just incredible. I’m playing it over and over and over right now.
I’ve got an in for Southampton and Ally Pally in October but doubtful they’ll happen. Looking forward to whenever it does happen.
The Youtube Brixton stream, can I just watch without having a Youtube profile set up? Obviously I watch YouTube but didn’t know if this was a “free for all” cos of the links to register n stuff. Maybe I will just register.
What else... Ah yeah the Hills End listening party, that’s soon I think.
Enjoying PLANET (but can’t watch that dude with the mouth which isn’t symmetrical when he sings tho 😂 blame the mathematician in me), and I’ve just been listening to Underlights on Spotify, hmmm not sure, I don’t think they used Tommy’s distinctive voice to it’s full potential but were clearly maturing as a band and going somewhere.

Fair enough! I've loved LIAGOC from the off but it really kicked it up a gear hearing it live. The Glow has grown on me but yep, Silver is special. Tommy wrote the chorus and mentioned in an interview how it just came to him one night. Wasn't trying to, just fell from the sky - he actually spoke a lot about the writing process like Noel would, and you can definitely tell that working class British influence in his writing (he doesn't chase it, if it comes it comes, if not it doesn't - obviously with DMA's there's two other writer so there's always ideas there). Great news on the gigs. Obviously I'm not getting my hopes up but at the end of the day all the people saying events are off until next year etc - it's really just too early to tell. You either do one of two things - get things back up and running after the infection rate is down for a sustained period and ensure the health systems have capacity to handle it without lockdown, or keep gatherings off at all until there's a vaccine. I know which one is more realistic and it's the first. There's no point giving an arbitary date because it's not like the virus is just going to stop in 2021. But yeh, we'll have to wait and see. They'll be great gigs either way - I'm off to Ally Pally too, and Castlefied (whenever that gets rearranged for, hasn't officially been announced yet but looks like they're trying for Sept/October if they can). Never even heard of Underlights, are they band Tommy and Johnny were in before? I'm enjoying PLANET's EP a lot and BIG TIME with Matty Took and Johnny Took is a nice colab. Also check out Hayley Mary - especially 'The Piss The Perfume' and 'Brat' if you haven't already, she's Johnny's partner and she's superb. A talented bunch, that's for sure! Re. YouTube, I don't think you have to have an account. For the Facebook stream, I think you just have to click the link on their Facebook page and then you'll receive the event invitation etc - it's obviously all free. Silver was just mindblowingly good but - and hopefully the cameras picked this up - I'm so excited to see the opener (Feels Like 37). Everything about the atmosphere and build up was just incredible - a five-minute dance track just slowly warming up to full volume (felt like FITB before a Liam gig) and then straight into FL37. So yep, that on Wednesday at 9pm (and again on Thursday 9pm in Aus) and then Hills End listening party with Tim Burgess on Friday May 8th at 10pm UK time. Been holding off on listening to that album since I saw they were doing it, so really looking forward to it.

Good interview here, from just after the Brixton gig. Speaks about LG a bit but just really chilled out - probably their 'problem' - not that it's a problem as such - is that they are so chilled out. Probably helps being from Aus and having lovely weather and just a more laid back lifestyle etc.
They're so easy going I suppose it's sometimes like if they perhaps put themselves out more in the past it'd have been different. But looking back I think that's just me wanting to feel that instantaneous push of a band like Oasis or the Arctic Monkeys etc coming from nowhere in the space of a year and taking over - something which hasn't happened for 10 years or so now, probably longer.
But DMA's have built and built up and are now playing massive venues and will do them justice. Just chuffed for them and hope against hope all of this nonsense in the world doesn't derail them - I'm sure it won't.

Also igotflair, take a careful look at the bird in the backdrop at Brixton, maybe turn your head slightly to get a better angle... Once you see it, you can't unsee it! @the-Ghost-Dancer knows

^^ I had a bit of trouble, but yeah when I saw it it was very clear, in fact I can no longer see the bird. It’s very cool. Yeah we’ll be watching it on YouTube on the big screen, full sound system, make a night of it. Will probably reload it straight away! Really looking forward to it. I’ve a connection with a band called The K’s, they’re very under the radar right now, but have recently been signed by McGee’s Creation23 label. Really talented bunch of lads even though their music might not be completely my thing. Anyway, here’s Jamie with his Silver cover. He’s great and he doesn’t hide his northern accent when he sings which I find endearing. His angst coming through his voice is really quite something. If you cba to listen to it all just scrub to the last 30 seconds www.instagram.com/tv/B_czJhZF4Gw/?igshid=ke16hcvoizs1

Seen them get mentioned a fair bit so did have a listen a while back. Didn't stand out but that doesn't mean I don't like them - just need to pay a bit more attention! And yeh, any time I watch the vid now I can't unsee it. Your experience is gonna be better than mine - I'm restricted to laptop on earphones, lol. Then again, I can actually remember the gig, so it's not too bad

Really enjoyed the gig. Tommy has some voice doesn't he? The range is mental. He's brilliant mate. Every time I've seen them he's been flawless, too. Matt's backing vocals have stepped up a lot too in the last year - mainly as they've been playing bigger venues so need to beef up the sound I guess! Just hope their momentum is still there once all this is all over, whenever that may be.

Just so good to relive it. That gig was special to be at. The boys knew it too. And yeh, I'm not really into the whole 'best band' thing cause it's obviously all opinion, but in terms of approaching a peak, or being at a peak, it feels like everything they do atm is just of such a high-quality, it's brilliant. When The Glow does get released, you're looking at three superb albums plus the EP material. All they're missing is ace B-sides, haha! That Brixton set - 17/18 songs for me is always about right for a gig of that intensity - but just looking at the songs they missed off: Do I Need You Now, For Now, Break Me, Lazy Love, Warsaw, Emily White, So We Know (I know they hardly ever play that!), Laced, Blown Away (not sure they've ever done that live tbf?) - just brilliant.

Had to be pulled off the ceiling at one point, amazing. Hahaha, fantastic to hear! Glad you loved it. It's available for £6 I believe on their store (or will be) - as part of an album bundle. Get the download and you get the gig with it. I'll probably purchase it because it's a little (very little) bit of help for the band and the gig is just one of those which can be watched again and again. Think a lot of casual fans who will have caught that will have been won over now. It's obviously a reward for people who have been there from the beginning (not that I have - I first saw them in 2017 and before seeing them I only liked the odd song, it was seeing the band live that got me really into them) and to see them grow into a band worthy of playing these massive venues (whenever they do get to play Castlefield/Ally Pally etc).
