Liam and the flying cup of... something "And I ain't good for your fuckin' health. Rock 'n' roll star, knobhead!" As we could not see much, we were scared shitless at that point that it might be the shortest gig ever!

Why Me? Why Not is back in, sounds fucking colossal! Would've loved to hear it in Vienna. The same with Come Back To Me.

Why Me? Why Not is back in, sounds fucking colossal! Really? It doesn't show on setlist.fm; is "Be still" still in? I wish to hear both tonight!

Not sure of the whole setlist Derrick I only got streamed WM?WN as a little surprise cos it’s my favourite ☺️ I'm hoping for a special treat for the last date of the tour, with "WM?WN", "Columbia" & maybe "Wonderwall" being played tonight (I don't really care about "Wonderwall" personally, I'd much rather have "One of us", but it's such an international crowd pleaser that it's likely to be added to the setlist as a bonus).

The Zenith was packed to the rafters last night, astounding because who would've thought, 4 years ago, that Liam could sell out big venues outside the UK under his own name? The audience were mostly in their thirties/forties, "old" Oasis fans like me that haven't forgotten Liam; dunno if there were teenagers in the front rows of the pit, I didn't see them anyway. Of course there were as usual a few Brits who made the trip across the Channel.
"Rock'n'roll star" was an inauspicious start: awful sound mix, couldn't hear the guitars, only bass & drums even though I was standing at the center of the venue, & most of all Liam's voice was shockingly bad, sounded completely bust & nasal; I thought that's what you get at the end of a winter tour.
The first verse of "Halo", when he's just singing over the piano before the guitars, bass & drums kick in to drown his voice, was embarrassingly ugly, grist to the mill of his detractors who deride him as the Kermit parody of his former self, hopelessly unable to sing anymore & ruining the hits of his former band's glory days.
Liam, as usual, kept complaining to the roadies about his mic, even discarding it altogether after the third song, but one could assume the gear & technicians were scapegoats for Liam not liking the sound of his actual voice - the truth hurts.
As I was expecting the worst for the next ballads especially ("Once" for instance), it actually got better, fortunately; by "Wall of glass" he was sounding alright. In fact, he needed to warm up his voice, but we all know LG will never do warm-up vocal exercises à la Mick Jagger before a gig, nor attend soundchecks to fix potential mic problems for that matter.
"Shockwave" lacked a bit of oomph & Liam lowered the pitch of the highest bits of the choruses ("Maybe the shame..."), flattening the momentum, but "Wall of glass" was fine, then I was excited to get "Be still": this song really rocks live; I hope it'll remain in his setlist.
"For what it's worth" was a bit flippant, Liam backing out when it came to the choruses, he only perfunctorily sang the second half of it.. Dunno if he did this on the rest of the tour, maybe to give the fans an anthemic singalong, but yesterday it really looked like he couldn't be arsed to try to reach the high notes; the rendition was a botched job (fortunately it's not my favourite tune so I didn't care that much).
We didn't eventually get "Why me? Why not", but Liam probably would've swerved the high notes of the chorus here as well so it was no great loss.
Crowd went haywire on "Morning glory", total frenzy, beer glasses flying, sprinkling the feverish audience with whatever yellow liquid was in them (being no rookie to Oasis/Gallagher gigs, I'd positioned myself at the back to be sheltered from these golden showers). Say what you will about that song, you may be sick of hearing it at every gig, but it works every time.
The highlight of the gig for me was "Stand by me", shivers down my spine when the riff burst out of the speakers; first time I'd ever heard it live (I'd missed the SOTSOG tour, the first Oasis gig I attended was in 2002), & having Bonehead playing it was the icing on the cake. Mass singalong to that one, clearly I wasn't the only one longing for this song; it really is a top tune that's been undeservedly shelved for so long. Many thanks to Liam for digging out the BHN-era tunes from their Noel-imposed purgatory; now I'm hoping for "Stay young", "Don't go away" (he'll get round to it someday) & "It's gettin' better (man!)" for the next tour!
"Once" was immense, the crowd in the tiers waving their phones (the lighters of the digital age) & the whole venue joining Liam for the last chorus was as impressive as that video of the Milan gig.
Gene came on drums for "The river" (sounded heavier) & stayed on bongos for "Gas panic!", another personal highlight even if Mike's guitar skills don't match Noel's; it was great to hear that one.
Then came the final run of Oasis hits, mass singalong to "Acquiesce" (Liam needn't have worried it may "fall flat on its arse"), & for the second encore he offered the crowd the choice between "Wonderwall" & "Cigs & alcohol"(the latter getting the most cheers), before announcing that because "it was Christmas" they'd play both.
All in all it was a great gig after an ominous start; I was really glad to see Liam (he really needs to shave that beard, though; he looks like a shepherd that's been stranded in the mountains for too long: is he trying to out-hair Bon Iver?) & to see that the French fans were still turning up to see him in 2020 & enjoying the gig.
Still, he deserves a better live band (some phaser/flanger/chorus effects were a bit jarring throughout the gig), but that doesn't detract from the pleasure of watching LG still rocking at 47 & keeping the flame with Bonehead. The resurrection is on indeed; now looking forward to the next album & tour!
(By the way, there weren't too many phones blocking the view; they popped from time to time but I've seen far worse; during most of the gig they weren't to be seen & people were actually enjoying the live gig instead of filming/livestreaming it.)

I'm glad Liam's last gigs in Europe were last week; if it had been a few days later the mood in the audience would've been tarnished by the coronavirus paranoia.

Any word on the size of the venues he played outside the UK? Were they the same in your city as during the Beady Eye tours?
In Munich he played the same small venue as on his first Beady Eye tour. I don't get it - with all the success of his solo records and the media attention and awards and stuff he should go back to playing bigger venues outside the UK.
I always thought Beady Eye were pretty good but nowhere as big as Liam is in 2020.
With all the respect - if "Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds" can play the biggest indoor venue in Munich (Olympiahalle - where Oasis played back in 1997) - Liam should be able to do the same. And now that Bonehead was on tour with him - this was the closest thing to an Oasis reunion (with the old cast) as we probably will ever get. "Stand By Me" and "Live Forever" were big crowd pleaser that deserve a bigger crowd and venue.
I don't mind small venues but the sound is usually better in this bigger arenas. I hope we don't have to wait for an Oasis reunion before he goes back to play bigger venues outside the UK.

Ziggo Dome with capacity of 17.000 is the biggest venue Liam ever played outside UK. It wasn't sold out, but only seats on higher tier were available on the day of the gig. www.ziggodome.nl/zakelijk/zalen/grote-zaal2 years ago he sold out AFAS Live with capacity of 5500. Ziggo Dome is only 7,5 years old and it wasn't there when Oasis were stil together. Oasis sold out 2 night of Heineken Music Hall (former AFAS Live) in 2009. (capacity 5500 x 2) Beady Eye sold out their first gig in Paradiso, Amsterdam in March 2011 (capacity 1500). 7 month later they couldn't even fill half Heineken Music Hall. In February 2014 they played in Paradiso again, but this time they couldn't sell out.

I’ve been to hundreds of concerts and have literally never experienced the sound being better at arenas/stadiums than clubs/theaters.

The smaller the venue the more the vocals gets drowned out by the drums. I'm not going to a Liam Gallagher concert to only hear the f*cking drummer. :-)

Oasis played the same venue at the DBTT tour (also full house), but they went to the bigger Stadthalle for the DOYS tour.

I love seeing bands in a venue like Paradiso where's no barrier and you can even have your arms laying on the stage. The sound of Ziggo Dome...I'm not sure what to say. Liam seemed having some issues in the beginning of the gig, but later it was alright.

Can't wait for Rock in Rio, already have tickets. But considering how the crowd is in the mainstream Portuguese festivals, everyone will be waiting for Wonderwall.
