theface.com/music/noel-gallagher-interview-oasis-90s-rock#.XZI6a0eOZF4.twitterOne of the best recent ones I've seen by him, more toned down in humor and the vitrol is toned down, mostly...😂 "Well, actually, saying that, I’m doing myself a disservice, because when Liam floated the idea of working with Death In Vegas, I was all for it. Sadly it amounted to fuck-all. But there was a lot of being a vagina for being a vagina’s sake. I played a huge part in that, of course.”

Great interview. This made me lol “I’ve just done a tour in America with Smashing Pumpkins, and the sight of two goths, one in a Rancid t-shirt, one in a Kiss t-shirt, with their arms around each other, singing Wonderwall in Arkansas, is not something you see every day!”

One of the best interviews Noely has done recently IIRC. Great stuff.

I think the difference here is that the interviewer actually likes Noel, and paints his comments in the light they were intended. Another journalist could easily have gone "NOEL SLAMS BROTHER, SAYS LIAM STOPPED HIM BEING CREATIVE IN OASIS", and everyone would be sat here calling ol' Noelly G a vajizzle.

He also asks follow up questions, asking Noel to elaborate on his answers. Rather than just running off with a sound bite he gets actual interesting information this way.

Mostly loved it, but Noel should give the "army of songwriters" crack a rest. He's had plenty of co-writers in his day, they just didn't know they were doing it. Stevie Wonder, Neil Innes, Marc Bolan, Gary Glitter...

Stevie Wonder, Neil Innes, Marc Bolan, Gary Glitter... I'd say that's an off comparison. I think there's a difference between taking inspiration, even theft, from having hired co-writers. One still has a great deal of emotional investment in it, the other, very much less so--especially as you add more-and-more writers. However, I have no issue with Liam using co-writers.

Still, there is something ironic about a person shitting on another person needing help with his songwriting - when he himself is one of rocks most notorious and blatant plagiarizers. Can't even listen to his The Doors rip without cringing. The gall is on another level. So, there is some irony in complaining about that. I think.

Just imagine if Oasis had tried something different...
He seems to really regret that which is great (not before time mind). Had to laugh at the ‘Trough Oasis’ jibe.

I didn’t see him complaining and shitting on Liam’s songwriters. I read him admit he can’t co-write with one of his best and most admired friends, Weller, because they are both so pigheaded, and laugh about it.

But about Liam using/needing (several) songwriters: “I’ve heard Shockwave – five people wrote that song by all accounts. Don’t you think that’s amazing?” comes the sarky reply. “I’ve not heard this new one that’s about me.” /.../ Oh, really? Ha ha! Well, I’m sure the other four people were moved. I wondered if they had pictures of me in the studio when they were writing that shit… also: “I think it’s unsophisticated music. For unsophisticated people. Made by an unsophisticated man. Who’s giving unsophisticated orders to a load of songwriters who think they’re doing the Oasis thing,"

There’s nothing insulting about the first quote. The second is a joke. And the third is not from this article. So your complaint really isn’t about this article, why bring it up again here 🤷♀️

I love Noel interviews like this when he is loose and not being cagey. I also like interviewers who don't just do the standard press tour questions. You always get the same lame repeated responses. Mix it up folks.

Out of the hundred of songs Noel has written, you choose to remember one stupid song when he was on a songwriting-inspiration low. Most songwriters have ripped off other (Even Lennon and Macca) but Noel is the most documented, that's all. It's completely different to write songs and maybe (conscious or not, Hello My Sweet Lord) ripp off someone than hiring industry writers to write your tunes and have ideas for you. You're comparing a potato to a cat, really.

Good interview, tired of the songwriter comments though.
"I've not heard this new one that's about me".
Who believes that? Not believing one word of it.

It's quite ironic that when George Lucas wanted to change Star Wars up there was a fan backlash, but now when Disney is playing it super-safe fans are clamoring for change" It's completely different. George Lucas shot the films on a Sony digital camera, while Disney is using Panavision. You're comparing a potato to a cat, really. -- It's quite ironic that the US was such a hero in WW2 freeing the jews from concentration camps and now builds defacto concentration camps for kids at the southern border. It's completely different. In WW2 they were mainly playing boardgames and reading the newspaper in the evening, while nowadays everyone is on their phone. You're comparing a potato to a cat, really.
