Funny I’ve seen a lot of lower scores and comments on another thread for Meadow but that was one of the ones that stood out to me on first listen. I love the vocals sound like they’ve been put through a Leslie speaker and the general weirdness of the song. Very Magical Mystery Tour album influenced. At the moment, after about 20 listens, the title track is my favourite. Fuck me what a tune that is. Be Still I thought was ok but now I love it. Invisible Sun reminds me of Moses by The Stone Roses. Fucking good tune. NTIFY I didn’t like the chorus to begin as I found it too poppy but played loud on speakers it sounded great. I thought AYW was a solid album and I’d say this one is too. Got a couple of weak parts here and there but some fucking strong parts too. If I could speak to LG I’d tell him to not bother keep wanting to reform and continue down the road he’s on.

Iv listened to the album 3 times now with a day inbetween.
Shockwave- 6 One of us- 7 Once- 7 Now that I found you- 8 Halo-6 (biggest grower so far, hated it originally) Why me why not-6 Be still- 8 Alright now- 5 Meadow- 7 The river- 6 Gone- 8
A very solid album. Less stompers on this one but feel like there's a good mix of sounds over a few tracks. Meadow blew my mind the first time I heard it. Hated halo to start with but after another couple of listens I started to get it.
One thing I would say is that the choruses across this album seem to deliver a little more, its all a little more consistent. I would rate this as a 7/10 with as you were a 6.5/10.
Can only imagine the spoken bit live for Gone (crowd goes wild)

I've listened to the album twice. My general thought is what another user said: it sounds forced, maybe even hollow and manufactured. There are some good moments, but I think the singles are the best portions of the album. After that the quality of songwriting significantly drops off.
Nothing is obviously bad, except Halo. But not much rises above tepid pop melodies that are inoffensive enough. Liam sounds great on a technical level, but I'm not sure I've ever heard him less committed? Though that might be a bad way of putting it. The heart just isn't in his notes, not that full throated belief that made Noel's words his.
Im keenly interesting on where else Liam's music goes because at the moment I can only see it becoming safer.
6/10.
Edit: fuller review coming with more listens.

8/10
I listened to the album twice and it sounds brilliant. Every song is enjoyable to me.
I'm gonna listen to it again when it's on spotify coz I can't access my PC anymore but hopefully I can give ratings for each track soon.

I can get some of the criticism. My biggest one is the amount of effects on Liam's voice. I gave the album itself a 7 but I'm pretty sure that will go upwards rather than downwards with a few more listens.

I won't be satisfied til Let It Bleed gives it a 1. Thanks I've only heard the singles, which I don't really like. I did put the album on hold at the library, it's not a purchase album for me; I only buy about five albums a year and get the rest from the library. There's about 25 library users in front of me, depending on how many copies of the album are put in the system, which library branches get the album, I should have the album by Halloween.... I'll probably listen to the album on Spotify or YouTube in the meantime I'll make sure to tag you if I ever review the album, which I doubt I do. Thanks.

IMO, the 3 Bonustracks elevate its rating a lot. The 3 of them should have been included in the main tracklist.

Had about 5 listens through now, can see these ratings changing in the coming weeks but this is how I see it at the moment..
Shockwave: 8/10 - Still love it, perfect start to the album, full of swagger. One Of Us: 7.5/10 - Feel like I'm being a little harsh here but I just like the other tunes more, still great. Once: 9/10 - That chorus is one of the best things I've ever heard, beautiful song. Now That I've Found You: 8.5/10 - Just pure joy, what a pop song, one of my favourites. Halo: 8/10 - Fucking madness! I just love how mental and quirky it is, love Liam's delicate vocals at the end as well. Why Me? Why Not: 8.5 - This is pure Beatles, lovely bit of falsetto from Liam in the chorus, great song. Be Still: 7.5/10 - This is going to be an absolute belter live. Alright Now: 8/10 - Didn't really get this one to start with but fucking love it now. Grower! Can anyone else here Music Is Power By Ashcroft on this one? Meadow: 6/10 - Only one I'm not really sold on yet, hoping it grows with more listens. The River: 8/10 - FILTH! But they should of made it even dirtier on record to be honest, monster live. Gone: 9/10 - This one could go down as one of my favourite songs ever, it's fucking epic, love everything about it. SO I WANNA HEAR YOU SAY IT, NOW I WANNA HEAR YOU BEG ME! Liam's "The Man Who Built The Moon".
Invisible Sun: 8/10 - Early impressions is this should of been on the album instead of Meadow, The "Come togetherrrrrrrr" part reminds me of My Sister Love for some reason. What a song to be a bonus track! Misunderstood: 8/10 - I can't believe the quality of Invisible Sun and this, they are only bonus tunes, beautiful little song, melodies are gorgeous. Glimmer: 6.5/10 - Fun little tune, chorus is great but not as strong as the other tunes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
So as you can see, I really do love this album, so many varied sounds and Liam's vocals sound so strong and confident. Best he's sounded since Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants. I didn't think he could top As You Were but this really is a step up, so much quality. So so happy with it.
Overall: 8.5/10

Listened to the album many times now. The highlights for me - Shockwave, Once, Why Me? Why Not, The River, Gone, and Invisible Sun. One of Us, Halo, and Be Still are OK. Now That I've Found You, Alright Now, Meadow, Misunderstood, and Glimmer are, as the Mancs would say, "bobbins".
I think Liam's vocals are really good overall. There is a bit of an overdose on strings and not enough loud guitars for my liking. However, I think this might be like As You Were in that many of the songs will have more of an edge to them live - Greedy Soul being the best example from that album.

Okay here's my ratings while I was listening to the album for the 4-5th time Shockwave: 6/10 - It sounds alright but the main problem for me is that it doesn't really go anywhere. Fits the album sound though! One Of Us: 8/10 - One of my favourites, i love the vibe! It sounds kinda melancholic but also optimistic. Once: 7.5/10 - Lovely tune. Now That I've Found You: 8/10 - So good. Love the feel good vibe and all the happiness in the sound. Some people were comparing it to FWIW and I don't understand it at all. I almost fall asleep listening to FWIW but this has the opposite effect. Halo: 6.5/10 - Not my favourite tbh. It sounded kinda interesting at first but now i think it's just a bit too loud in a wrong way. And i do like loud music but not the way this is produced. There are a couple of bits with guitars that sounds really interesting and I feel like the guitars should be more prominent in the mix throughout the song to make it more noise rock-ish which could even work. Why Me? Why Not: 7.5/10 - This is hard to rate because I'm not sure what exactly i like/don't like about this. It's pretty well written though. Be Still: 7.5/10 - Sounds like pop rock but not in a bad way. One of my favourites. Alright Now: 7.5/10 - It took me a while to have a proper opinion about this but now i think it's really good. Meadow: 7/10 - The slide guitar <3 The River: 5/10 - I don't really like the song but the sound itself is pretty fucking good Gone: 7.5/10 - This song just keeps getting better Invisible Sun 8/10 - Fucking hell the production, amazing. Almost sounds like it could be from DIV collab. Chorus is a WOG ripoff but not necessarily a bad thing. Understood: 7.5/10 - I keep liking this song more and more. Glimmer: 8/10 - I've loved this song the first time I heard it. 8 seems a bit high but it's definitely up there with my favourites from the album. I give this 8/10, very strong album! I'm so glad Liam managed to come up with all the great songs e. I'm sure all of these ratings will change and it'll be fun to compare in a couple of weeks.

Ok ready to rate the songs after a few listens:
Shockwave 7/10: I think it's a great first single as it appeals to casual fans, although I've been a bit bored by it.
One of Us 8.5/10: This one has been trending up ever since I first listened to it. Great songwriting, fresh sound, memorable.
Once 9.5/10: I've a special personal connection with this song, a classic for me.
Now That I've Found You 7/10: Love the feel-good sound, it's a nice track but not as high on it as others.
Halo 5.5/10: Probably the weakest from the album for me, but even then I don't feel the need to skip it as it has some nice bits and energy.
Why Me? Why Not 7/10: From being unimpressed at first, I enjoy listening to it now. The beginning is very Soul Love, right?
Be Still 6/10: I guess I'm in the minority, but this is the other song that hasn't grabbed me too much alongside Halo.
Alright Now 8/10: Instantly in love with this song, different to what we've come to expect from Liam, in a good sense. Been singing "When the lights go down on Brooooooadwaaaay!" constantly since the leak.
Meadow 7.5/10: I'm a sucker for this sort of Lennonesque production and it reminds me of the good parts from BE.
The River 7.5/10: Can't get bored of this stomper.
Gone 9/10: Wow, this song is really amazing, love it from beginning to end, perfect closer in a different vein from the usual Morning-Son-Start-Anew-All-I-Need closers.
Now on to the bonus tracks, I think they are great, much better than the ones from AYW, but I wouldn't swap them for any album track as I think it has a perfect balance as it is.
Invisible Sun 6/10: Good riff and like Liam's delivery, but not among my favorites.
Misunderstood 7.5/10: A nice little sugary tune with a pretty melody which Liam sings beautifully.
Glimmer 6.5/10: So fun, makes me want to dance. Reminds me of I Believe In All.

A couple good songs but some of them are such sickly sweet pop I could barely listen. The contrast between the actual songs and Liam’s RocknRoll persona is starting to do my head in.

In my humble opinion I like: The chorus of Why Me? Why Not is amazing. One Of Us is possibly one of his best songs since Oasis. I like that there are no truly bad songs, they're generally all good album tracks. The album is quite diverse. The bonus tracks are good. In my humble opinion I don't like: I reckon they've gone a bit over the top with the effects on Liams vocals and they're too low in the mix in most of the songs. Lots of the lyrics sound generic and don't really pull me in or talk to me. Lots of the melody's sound forced, for example in Gone were there are lots of weird up and down notes, probably to disguise a bland melody. I wish the One Of Us outro was 5 minutes long. I'll be returning to: One Of Us Why Me? Why Not Be Still 5/10 Although I’d rate it a little higher (6.5-6.9), my feelings were similar to yours and what spaneli had written. My expectations were quite low going into it and I like it more than I’d anticipated. But still, lots to thoughts to digest. Currently listening to All Mod Cons as a palate cleanser before I go back to WMWN.
