I see Noel's decision to ban questions about Liam didn't last long...

That's not what he says, actually... It's not a summary, nor a direct quote/translation of Noel's words. I haven't got time to translate it, sorry, but the actual interview is a bit different.

www.vanityfair.it/music/storie-music/2019/09/12/noel-gallagher-liam-album-blur-definitely-maybe-reunion-live-foreverNoel Gallagher: " Liam, leave me in peace."The interviewer asks Noel what's his favourite THIS IS THE PLACE EP tune and he answers: " 'A Dream Is All I Need To Get By'. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever written! With such a hypnotic melody. It's fucking great!"
Where did this EP come from?"From Manchester: the sound is strongly influenced by the Haçienda, the place where the Smiths, the New Order, the Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays played in the 1980s. And then from the electronic music that I've been listening to recently. For me as a guitarist it is good to make songs without guitars ".Why?"Because I learn new stuffs. Making a record in Oasis style would be the easiest thing, but people would still say that it's good as it was in the past ".Is Oasis a legend that is better not to touch?"People started singing Don't Look Back in Anger after the 2017 Manchester bombing. Part of me was honored, but the other was immersed in tragedy and didn't want to feel proud. The way people remember and sing my songs is incredible. I know I got into something very special, but I don't want to know what it is. This is why so many would like an Oasis reunion and I often feel the only person on Earth to ask: but why? "Why not?"Why try to recreate a perfect cake? It would be foolish. "Blur did it."Who gives a fuck about Blur? I mean, good for them, but I don't care what others do. "
It's because of Liam."That has a great weight, I don't hide it. But even if we'd get in a good relationship , I wouldn't see the sense of a reunion in any case ".It would be a gift to the fans. "They already have them: they have records."Liam would like to reform Oasis. "Yes, sure ... well, let's put it this way: and who would be in the band? In mine now we are four ex Oasis. None of us wants to be in a group with that guy. It's a fucking nightmare".Have you two ever gotten along? "No". Never in life? "Never". And how did you play together? "Oasis was our purpose for celebrity and money, they were so precious that we fitted. But once you're rich and famous, it's not worth the worry anymore. "
Are ten years now since you left the band."That night in Paris was a very quick decision, less than a minute. The whole history of Oasis appeared to me in the form of a flash in front of my eyes. I thought: what else do we want? More tours? No. More money? I already have a lot. That's enough". Ever had an afterthought? "Never. But I know why Liam would like the reunion. Because he is ashamed of what he has done and would like to correct his mistakes. All those concerts, especially in Italy, in which he left the stage as if nothing had happened in front of 70,000 people ... he had to think about it before". What problems does Liam have? "He's a c*nt. Here's what his problem is. " He is still your brother. Won't you two make peace?"No. As long as he puts shit on me, who cares. But when he starts sending threatening messages to my daughter and my wife, for me it ended forever ». Liam apologized for that message. "I don't care. This has been going on for ten years, this is only the first time I have published a message of him. And the most terrible thing is that if Liam wasn't a rock star, someone would call the police to denounce that disturbing uncle who threatens his niece ». Your daughter got scared. "What can you do when she calls you nearly in tears saying: Dad, but when will he leave me in peace? Think if you were going home tonight to tell you and my wife that I want to reform Oasis. They would say that I do not respect their feelings ".
With Liam you made important records. At the end of August there was the twenty-fifth anniversary of Definitely Maybe, your first album. Do you consider it your masterpiece? "My opinion doesn't matter. For me we did three great albums: this, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? and Don’t Believe the Truth. I'm not stupid enough to not understand what these records mean for people. When someone tells me that they have changed their lives, I certainly won't start to argue ".
Have you ever been afraid of not being able to reach those peaks again? "Well, I can't. It is definitely impossible ". Why? "At the time of Definitely Maybe I was in my twenties, I was broke and I wrote songs about people who lived without money in a big city. (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? instead spoke that I was going to become rich. Today I'm 52, I'm a long-time rock star: how could I be what it once was? "
Urgency is gone? "Yes and no. I still have the will to push myself over and see what I can do. But I am no longer looking for what I wanted at the age of 20 ".
What is the best memory of the Definitely Maybe era? "That time when we first heard Supersonic in the studio, which I had written a little earlier, the same evening. Listen to the recording of other pieces like Live Forever and Rock ’n’ Roll Star and then hear them on the radio. Go to Top of the Pops. To know my idols, like Paul McCartney ".
In those days where did you live? "For a while with Bonehead, then alone in an apartment in central Manchester. But I remember very well that one weekend, after the end of a love story, I went to London and never returned to my city ".
Has you never returned to take your things? "No. I don't know what happened to my clothes and my records. I just disappeared with a bag and a guitar ".
Can't wait to escape from Manchester? "I couldn't wait to start the journey of life. I have never been afraid of the future, I have always embraced it ". Do you remember when you wrote Live Forever? Did you know it was the song of the breakthrough?
"Yes, I knew it. I wrote it one afternoon in Manchester while listening to mainstream music. The same evening I sang it in the rehearsal room: they were all stunned ". The song said: I want to live forever.
"At the time Nirvana were going strong and they wrote a song called I Hate My Life and I Want to Die. I was wondering: why? Then I read an interview with Kurt Cobain in which he came out as an all-tormented artist. But fuck you, I thought. You had it all, you're in the most important band of the moment, you're where I want to be, and you say you want to die? Then I want to live forever. Here is how the song was born ". You were the optimistic response to grunge. Was it the reason of your success?
"My music brought people together. It never talked about me, but about us. Everyone could identify in it. If I had written songs about personal things, at Bob Dylan, Oasis would have been a band like so many. " Tell us about the great mystery of Britpop: what happened at the London pub The Good Mixer, the night the war between Oasis and Blur began? No one ever wanted to talk about it. "It was Liam, he was a fool. That evening we gave a party because Some Might Say had gone to first place in the ranking. At one point the Blur arrive. Let them in, we say. Enter and Liam and Damon, the two singers, rivals, start saying terrible words to each other. And then everything degenerates, a fight begins and I also intervene to divide them ... ". Today you and Damon Albarn are friends, but in the 90s it was a war between Oasis and Blur. Looking back, do you regret it? "No, I just think it must have been great to have had 16 years in those days, with the music that was the center of your life and these two bands fighting. Can you imagine what could happen today? A battle between Ed Sheeran and the fucking Lewis Capaldi? But who cares, come on ".

Don't Believe The Truth was the first album Oasis released after I got into them, so this album always reminds me something special. I loved every moment before/during/after release and the tour. Didn't expect Noel would say it's one of the masterpieces. Oh well.

Has anyone who's been in Oasis said anything bad about Liam, other than Noel?
At the same time, if what Noel says isn't true - wouldn't Gem etc speak up?

]Liam's recent interviews have been quite Noel heavy too. I would rather hear them talk about anything else. Yes, I totally agree that he should just shut up, but as you said pretending that Noel is the only one to say things like this is really dishonest. As soon as one of these two start talking about the other, they both end up saying shit... I really don't understand how one can be offended by Noel saying things like this (which I understand to some point), but on the same time see no issue when Liam is doing the same. Or vice versa, it doesn't matter which one. Isn't it obvious that both of them, when talking about the other are losing all control ? I don't take anything that Noel or Liam said about each other these days, they are both speaking with anger, no one here can say "this is something he really means". I've seen really stupid things said by Liam too recently and I'm not acting as if he suddenly was the devil...
