Was Stand by me Rock? Was Live Forever Rock? Was Cast no Shadows Rock? Was Wonderwall Rock? Was Don't Look Back in Anger Rock? Was Whatever Rock? Was Don't go Away Rock? Was The Masterplan Rock? Was Supersonic Rock? NO. They were brit-POP: which was POP with guitars and " real played" instrument,. Liam still does the same genre... Noel as well (WBTM? is a pop-rock album). One of Us is a pop/rock song - with a bit of Coldplay (again: pop-rock) vibe in it- in the huge Oasis tradition. It's not dance, it's not rap, it's not hard rock, it's not indie rock - it's not whatever else than pop-rock. Don't like the term Brit pop and never have but I agree with you on the pop bit. Andymorris fears pop music because the term strips away some of the credibility he so desparately needs.

It's not bad but it's not particularly great either, unfinished even - after 2 minutes the song is done and whatever comes after is unnecessary. Whoever writes the lyrics to these new songs needs to go back and rework some lines. A lot of times the words just don't fit the melody. Oh, and the autotune and reverb to cover up his vocal troubles is a bit too obvious. I've given it a 5.

This is the most NGHFB song Liam has ever done.
Vocal sounds processed to fuck though. Also what was all that about Liam's next album being punk rock?

Heck no! this is the confusing part i think. britpop is more a term that define an era, like british invasion in the 60s, more than a genre. Robbie and Spice Girls are britpop, who makes pop music, when Oasis was making pop rock music, Pulp made indie Britpop and blur was making Blur music

Okay, I like this one. Much better than Once and The River for me. Tightly written, some new sounds we've not got from Liam before, and a good bit of bounce to it that sounds fresh and modern. His vocals are great as usual. The verses are gorgeous. It's a Gallagher summer 8/10.

Actually when Oasis first started I used to find their albums in the ALERNATIVE section of the record shop. Not the POP section nor the ROCK section.
So you're all wrong.

I'm pretty sure they were signed to an independent label (Creation) which would make them "indie"? So they're independent mainstream rock?

They're alt indie rock baroque pop on track 4 of MG, but indie rap hardcore dub on track 7 of SOTSOG, or as timlivesnever would put it : pop. As much as i hate that, apparently.

My favorite Live4ever-isms for every new single:
It's missing a big chorus It's missing a big guitar solo Yea, I hated it before. But then I listened to it so loud that my eardrums bled and I love it now.

I've enjoyed the last three Liam songs but not mad on this one. Firstly I don't think it's a very good composition but to be honest it's the very obvious autotuning on the vocal that really puts me off. Exactly my thoughts too. I can't give it more than a 5 largely because of the way they butchered his vocals. It pisses me off when they do that, what's the point in giving him a song that you end up making Liam not sound like Liam. I like the other 3 songs though.

Solid 8 from me now. Sounds so fresh and flows effortlessly. I absolutely love Liam's "heyyyy" parts, got that soul feel!
I know some people find the line "act like you don't remember, you said we'd Live Forever" cringey but I think it's brilliant, fits perfectly and a cool little nod to Oasis.

Since the launch of this forum in 2002, how many legit masterpieces/classics have Oasis or a Gallagher produced? The answer is probably zero.

Was unsure at first, but the chorus is an earworm, and I have found myself humming it constantly. I appreciate it being different and all the sound layers in the mix make for a rich listening experience. The strings are beautiful, and I agree it kinda sounds like Richard Ashcroft, but much better (and I quite like Mad Richard's solo output). Refreshing and addictive, I was tempted to rate it at 8, but when the dust settles I think it'll end up a solid 7 for me.

Oasis were a britPOP band. Wanderwall IS a POP song. Noel does POP music. So do Liam. Where all these people has been during the last 25 years? This forum surprise me every day. Britpop was just a shitty term invented by a journalist to define an era, it's not what most of those band were. In the 90s, pop music was the spice girls, Robbie Williams and the Backstreet boyz. You're just confusing pop music and music that is popular. Pop music is genre, just like rnr, rnb, metal... pop music is defined by its light production and melody. Oasis was rock n roll. Or pop rock if you want. Noel Gallagher does Cosmic Pop music, please, he's too sophisticated for regular pop music. We could also stop pretending these labels are in any way scientifc and just admit popular music is an incestuous spectrum with ridiculous amounts of overlap. Or we can go on for 25 more pages on whether death-trip-normcore owes a tonal debt to post-math-geo-rap. I mean, that's fun too, with enough booze.

First listen of any version of this. Love the vibe - reminds me a bit of Underneath the Sky.
I don’t like lyrical content but Liam pulls it off here (compared to cheesy shit like Don’t Brother Me). Like many of Liam’s songs, it feels incomplete. Fade out was abrupt. 6.5/10 (but voted 7 here).

6.5/10 Great melody and build up, but it begs for a big chorus 🤔 The chorus sounds like a bridge, resulting in a massive anti climax after the second one. The instrumentation, vocals and outro are excellent. I pretty much agree with Happy on this one.
