With the Premier League kicking off in one week, here is the corresponding predictions poll which has now become a feature of this forum over the last 5 years.
The poll options are in order of last season's final table. The poll will close on opening weekend (August 10th).
I really don’t like predicting this, but I think Liverpool will win the league, and it will be between only them and Citeh. I'm going for a decent season for the Arsenal with a fourth place finish. Chelsea will struggle this season - they were very fortunate to finish 3rd last season with Spurs and Arsenal an utter joke during last years run in, plus the transfer embargo and an inexperienced manager doesn’t help. Man Utd will struggle, with Ole sacked before Christmas.
Top 6:
1. Liverpool 2. Man City 3. Tottenham 4. Arsenal ------------- 5. Chelsea 6. Man Utd

Man City Liverpool Arsenal Man Utd Tottenham Chelsea I would very much love this table to happen - it’s the most perfect table as far as Arsenal fans are concerned. EDIT: If our defense isn’t sorted within the next few days, we are fucked though.

Anyone but Man City...and, it'd be nice if it wasn't one of the other usual top 5 clubs.
Thinking about this recently: would you rather the club you support be in a lower league and competing for the title; or, in the Premier League, knowing your club will probably never win the title?
Think I'd rather have my team in a lower league and competing for the title....but, then you get promoted to the Premier league, and probably sit at the bottom. I do like the promotion and relegation dynamic, though.
Thanks.

Liverpool, if they can avoid losing to City. Or collecting a pile of draws in January.
Based on the Community Shield, allowing that Liverpool were missing Mane and City Aguero, they're as evenly matched as it's possible to be.

Thanks. your team will never get any better by staying in a comfortable/easy division. everyone wants their club to get promoted and then once in the top flight, to stay there. better to be mid-table in the EPL than champions of div1...
interestingly, its not that common for the newly promoted clubs in the EPL to go straight back down the next season. and vice versa for relegated teams... your team being in a lower league also means theyre not playing the best football, so youre losing out on overall quality when you watch.

Personally, wouldn't be satisfied with being stuck in the middle, knowing you'll never have a legit shot at the title. Man City going for a three-peat, that's boring to me. One of the surest bets in the NFL next season is the New England Patriots not winning the Super Bowl because repeat winners rarely happen. Yes, the Patriots are always good but that's because they're a well run organization, have what will be considered the best coach and player ever.....and they also don't just buy the best players. In the last 20 years the New Engalnd Patriots only have one Hall of Fame player, and he just got into the Hall of Fame. I guess there's kinda leagues within the league, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, etc. in a league; the mid level teams fighting to stay mid; and bottom fighting to stay up.....would rather have more turnover and variety at the top.. God bless.

God bless. thats football. the big teams win and the small teams try to become bigger. which does happen over time. but they cant all be big teams because the supporters dont distribute evenly like that, so the money doesnt distribute evenly. its no coincidence that most big clubs come from big cities. small clubs are small not because they dont win, but because their fan base isnt big enough.
every team in the NFL is a big team because only major cities with fans and money have pro teams. in football EVERY district in the world has a club. and all of them want to go as far as they can.
the gap in prize/ad money between the the EPL and the championship is enormous. its a major incentive to get promoted and stay in the top flight...and a massive blow to get relegated.
some of the best games of football are between big clubs and teams fighting to stay out of relegation. in america you get a reward for having a miserable season. its an incentive to tank.
but most leagues have gotten far more open in the last 10 years anyway. it use to always be a two horse race. at least now theres a few teams that could win it. theres probably even more possible winners of the EPL than there is of the NFL...

I agree with tanking being a problem with some American sports, and some teams can't even do that right. American MLB baseball, could implement promotion and relegation, there's lots of minor league teams, and that would end the tanking problem real quick... Thanks.

MLB system is prime for a promotion/relegation type set-up. all those teams are kinda wasted being used in a farming system...

Whoa whoa whoa, first it was “oh my god the same team wins it every year”, then “omg the duopoly is not exciting enough”, and then “fuck the top 4, it’s not very interesting” and now, emerging within the last two years “fucking hell the top 6 dominates and it’s not competitive enough.” AND on top of that you had Leicester somehow win the league a few years back. Not competitive enough? Ludicrous, mate.

It's a myth really. 6 teams can't win the title.
Chelsea, United and Arsenal don't stand a chance really. And Spurs barely.

And Spurs barely. if spurs have a (barely) chance, then why not the other three? chelsea finished above them and arsenal were within 1 point. chelsea broke up man city's 'dominance' three seasons ago, and no ones won three in a row since the fergie days. 5 different teams have finished second in the last 5 seasons with three different champions. im not saying anyone has as good a chance as city or 'pool, but theres a better chance for more teams than there has ever been.

When Chelsea won it this wasn't the same City.
Since 17/18 City have been streets ahead of every single club bar Liverpool.
I was being kind to Spurs really cos they've improved in the summer but really they've not got a chance to compete with City, neither do Chelsea, United or Arsenal. All 4 clubs are fighting for CL spots.
City have accumulated 198 pts in the last 2 seasons.
The title race hasn't been this uncompetitive for years.
