If i had a Gun and Everybodys on the run are somewhat superior. Not to mention only one man wrote those. And What a Life is anthemic as it gets too, and its made to be played live

Is there a guitar strum missing in the first chorus right in the "so easy" part or is the compression just turned up to 11? 🧐 Fook me I can't unhear it now 🙉

Bumping up to an 8.
That instrumental needed a guitar solo ffs. And a key change in the last chorus to end it.

And a key change in the last chorus to end it. Ha! I just tried taking the last chorus up a semi tone in Audacity. Sounds quite good! Totally unnecessary, but interesting.

All 3 of the new songs for me range from 6.5-6.8 (7 still feels a bit too high). In comparison, AYW songs I’d say were 7-8.5.
They’re not brilliant or even that great but they’re decent, okay, satisfactory. Hearing Liam sing a new song is the most exciting part thus far I think. I’d say Once is probably on par with The River for quality, with Shockwave being the weakest of the three.
I really liked the BBC piano session version, more than the album. It was very satisfying to watching Liam sing it so well and give it his all. I think he made us all proud there.

They should have written two separate songs, like REAL songwriters do. They might have ended up with the glory that is BSD. ' -- jazamora93, probably

They competed against each other.

I dunno what crowds you been in but its a piss break for most people when i go WAL is played at the end of gigs. It's not a piss break. It's probably NG's most famous solo song. Stop being a prat. But, this is a discussion on Once so I'm not sure why the posters are bringing WAL up. After about 10 listens and having a play around on the guitar yesterday I stand by my 8. Good song, but the chorus and Liam's vocals lift it and make up for the faults.

8.5/10.
A very solid rating. No doubt.
Best Oasis related song since Falling Down without a doubt. That's for sure.
This is a top 2000s Oasis song. The Turning, Go Let It Out, Gas Panic etc.
This is comfortably in that group. ❤

Shockwave is 5/10 The River is 4/10 Once is 6/10
Shockwave is too generic and it sounds all over the place whereas The River is abysmal. Once is great even though the lyrics are comical. Liam's vocals are the true highlight of the songs. Pretty disappointed with his recent output so far.

Can I shock you? I now really fucking like Once.
Still, not even close to the Oasis classics though. (Which is fine as that’s not where my personal level of expectation is at).

I give it a 9, and Liam please drop the ONCE bit in the middle when doing it acoustically, it's cringe AF

There's definitely still a strum there though!

It suits his voice so perfectly - didn't know he still can sing this good! Anybody know if there is full version of the "demo" from the As you were documentary?

FWIW minus the schmaltz.
It’s really cool what Noel is doing - on the whole. Cool and interesting, but if in 20 years nobody associates it with a landmark point in their life...what was it for? Noel isn’t an aficionado or a musician’s musician. Liam has the ace card here.
