As You Were is Sgt Pepper compared to the 3 tracks we got so far, in terms of production and mixing work. Fan or not of the "Once" from As you Were (For What it's Worth), the work done on that track was close to perfection. Paper Crown was also a delight to the ear. the vocals in AYW didn't sound so good and real it's a big improvement Agree that the vocals on Once are great, it's the rest that is a problem.

9/10. Shockwave, River, Once > first three singles from NGHFB, DGSS, BE, CY, AYW, WBTM. Nah. When TDOTYAM, IIHAG and WAL came out, everyone went absolutely berserk for them. 8 years later our opinion of those songs has changed so the comparison isn't true. I seriously doubt that 8 years from now, most people on here will be raving about Shockwave and The River (I like them, honestly, but they're still fairly simple, by the numbers rockers that Liam elevates with his delivery).

9/10, but I really hope Liam knocks it out of the park live once with an acoustic+strings setting.

I think it's good. I like the Lennon sound. It reminds me a bit of Off At The Next Exit. My main concern is that it is too short. Would've liked at least a duration of 4:30-5:00.

I went for 7. His voice sounds epic on it, love the strings and melody. I've listened to the "proper" version four times now and that instrumental break is SCREAMING for a slow lead electric guitar solo. I, for one can't get past the cringe of skyoowell. I'm hoping we get a really nice version from MTV where he can at least sing "school" normally and they bung in a string solo instead of the digitised "Once" refrain in the break. It is supposed to be "unplugged" after all.

Fair point. Can't really explain it apart from that it makes me cringe every time. Hopefully I'll get used to it and it won't be an issue in the future.

Thinking about it more, maybe it's because it's in a slow, acoustic context compared to the aggression, energy and power of something like Cigarettes and Alcohol.

"Is it my imagination, or have I finally found something worth living for" Is a bit different to "You have to clean the pool, and drop the kids to school" So I do understand Tom Lord point, plus the other points you both make after

I played the lyric video for a woman at work today. She actually started crying and kept saying it was beautiful. She's going through some rough shit with her husbands health at the moment and I guess it really struck emotionally. Oh she really isn't fond of the Gallagher's either.

But both experiences are probably authentic to the Liam Gallaghers of 1994 and 2019...

Even with the mental middle bit, it's still better than anything either brother has been involved with in many years. I'm so glad Liam is working with Andrew Wyatt cause, musically, he's a better songwriter than Noel right now. He and Liam know how to craft an anthem.

Liam’s been a far better song writer than Noel for many years now imo

Liam’s been a far better song writer than Noel for many years now imo Fucking hell. We are talking about the same guy who released Chasing Yesterday less than five years ago. I don't like the direction Noel has went with since then, for the most part (but tunes like It's A Beautiful World, Rattling Rose and so are quality), but saying that is too much. Liam has come a long way since his first song for Oasis but he does not have the consistency, in his song-writing, for one to make that claim. Saying that the average quality of his songs have increased, is a more valid claim, but that does not make him better than Noel. Heck, this doesn't even matter at all, this is not a competition between them and Liam is not even looking for acclaim as a song-writer, but instead continuing to be viewed as one of the last great RNR frontman's. And Once carries the message of Liam moving on and finally realizing there's no hope in repairing their relationship and bring back the band. And as such, there's no need to always bring up the other when one releases a song, they are separate entities now, and have been for 10 years now. They have never been more "separate" than in the current day when you look at their comments in interviews, they are strangers to one another, there's so much hate there, so i at least hope the fans stop these comparisons someday, because they only bring more harm than good. We should be grateful for the fact that both brothers are still making music.

I was just referring to recent years 2017 onwards there’s no competition. Liam’s making better music

Finally heard this one when the lyric video dropped. I've no idea what everyone's hearing in this one. Production sounds messy and the lyrics doesn't flow very well. I've rated it a 6.

Every track on Chasing Yesterday was better than that song. This an Beautiful World are the 2 most overrated tunes in the Noel pantheon. Beautiful World, in particular, is such a trash song with no depth. Everything that Liam is involved with right now is better than this sort of fluff. In years to come, no-one will even think of or remember the WBTM album.

While personally I think the sounds are good but the songwriting is patchy I would never argue it’s not a good album.
