Who has said that? I don't think even Noel has claimed that. I'm sure if another Talk Tonight or DLBIA or even DITW 'fell from the sky' as he likes to say, I'm sure he'd put it out there. It's just personal taste. I love Holy Mountain and think it's up there with the best stuff he's written. It's just euphoric. I love that like I love how It's Getting Better (Man!!) is such a euphoric song, or Some Might Say and Step Out etc. There's also nothing wrong with how he's doing it now and if people like it or not is again down to taste. Hes said that he isnt writing songs like that anymore. The stuff about falling from the sky makes me cringe. Hes openly admitted hes sat there trying to rip songs off from CDs. Yeah really gonna just drop out the sky aint it. Its fucking dropped out of an mp3 rip. Ive always actually been of the opinion that it was incredibly difficult for Noel in Oasis because he was having to write anthems and he usually come up with the goods. It was laid bare, the melody had to be there and no gimmicks. Other artists get away with shit he couldn't by adding the sort of gimmicks he adds now. For instance take away the "new" sounds from Careful What You Wish For and you have a lame come together rip off with no chorus. Nothing new about how he writes now. Hes just added a few different sounds to cover up how bad the songs are. Those comments were in relation to the amazing songs. I'm sure he doesn't rate Holy Mountain as being up there (in terms of impact) with DLBIA. Doesn't make the approach wrong. Noel has always said (there's a good interview from 2000 where he says it) that you can't force things. Well he's not really forced any of this. He's been working on stuff and when he's thought it was right, he's put it out there. There's nothing wrong with what he's doing. The songs aren't bad in my opinion (and many others). Your opinion is different. But you can't go on a tangent about how his approach is all wrong because of that.

More on here preferred Bring The Light than Holy Mountain I don't think that's true. FWIW, I never got the hate for Bring The Light. It's fair better than some of the other sub-standard drivel Beady Eye came out with.

you're such a delight. Also, Come Together borrows from You Can't Catch Me by Chuck Berry, so your argument is kinda shit. So because the song hes ripping is ripped from another song its irrelevant? All music is somewhat inspired from something else, that's it. Every artist borrows from other artist. When the Beatles do it, it's ok, when Noel does it, it's not. That's what you are saying, basically. Strip away Tomorrow Never Knows, what's left ? It's still one of the most important track in the history of music. I wonder what Liam thinks of that.

I just think if Noel is going in this direction, Black Star Dancing just shows he really needs to keep Holmes on board to tell him what to write and record. I like Rattling Rose, which sounds more like Chasing Yesterday era.

Weaker tracks ? In the heat of the moment is a tune and she taught me how to fly is possibly best track on that album , it’s all opinions but who built the moon was a strange record , it just lacked something and almost felt like Noel talked the critics and public into thinking it was way out there and to me it’s an average record with some good production, keep on reaching if sounded like the remix for instance would’ve been brilliant but the album version is boring .Some of the lyrics are poor aswell ...I think the new ep is brilliant , play BSD loud in a bar it sounds great and the other 2 tracks are classic noel To me they're weaker in the sense that they're not as polished as other songs are. They are catchy but that's all they are, to me anyway. Noel doesn't write complex songs. I played all of WBTM on acoustic guitar (except Fort Knox). Noel never changed what he does, he just added a capo. But In the Heat of The Moment is nothing special, especially with those bloody na na na's. She Taught Me To Fly is in the same vein to me, same with Black Star Dancing. That last one is him experimenting with writing on the bass, that's pretty obvious. I don't necessarily skip any of them but they wouldn't end up on any of my top Noel tunes. I wasn't surprised by WBTM myself. He had clearly been heading in this direction. I was more surprised at Black Star Dancing. But WBTM has great tunes, rich sounds, he experiments outside of the usual guitars and strings. I always liked that. But is it "out there"? No not at all maybe bar Fort Knox. The rest to me is really far away from the reputation it has and how Liam describes it. It has the same simple amazing melodies Noel has always been able to write only with more diverse instruments and keyboards and sounds. But it's still a Noel Gallagher record.

This. I can't stand Who Built The Moon. I loved the 3 new songs on the first EP. Felt like THIS is what WBTM should've been. And I'm the exact opposite. I loved WBTM, but can't stand any of the songs on the new EP. I'd enjoy WBTM a lot more if the production was akin to the EP - my biggest gripe was that a lot of the time Noel seemed totally buried to me. Like there was this swirling vortex of craziness going on and he was somewhere in the middle drowning away from me. Also, Holy Mountain is still the worst/most annoying song he's ever written, but YMMV and we are all entitled to our opposing opinions Also, for what it's worth, I LOVE Fort Knox! The album just sound way more like a David Holmes record with Noel guesting than a Noel album - to me, anyways.
