I received only two emails. The first stating that I'm eligible for early access to tickets and the second an hour later or so that if I'd pre-order now, I'd have early access to the tickets. Nothing about downloads and The River is not accessible in my account on the homepage, Shockwave is.

So, gave it a 9. Perfect musically and vocally for me, but as I said before I’m disappointed with some of the lyrics and the lyricist needs a slap. Constructively, and keeping the song’s theme of motivating someone who’s a bit lost in life, I’ve reworked some of the appalling lyrics without changing anything unnecessarily. Took me 10 minutes max. Certainly not perfect, and I’m absolutely not creative but just wanted to see what happened when an average person tries to improve things. Well come on get up off your kneesYou’re afraid of your thoughts and dreamsDon’t you say our generation is forsaken Get out of your clouds of weed Get on, pick up your speedYou can say that the sleeping have awakened You gotta scream and shout If you’re gonna work this out Change comes when the water falls I’ve been waiting so long for you down by the river Well the walls are closing in And your head’s in a constant spin And the pain in your eyes belongs to a strangerDon’t believe you can’t make it believe you’ve got itThe world is in your hands, grab a hold of itYou gotta scream and shout If you’re gonna work this out Change comes when the water falls I’ve been waiting so long for you down by the river Lick your lips like a prize fighter Surely you can take a punch Look your demons in the eyeOr they’re gonna own you, boy So come on You gotta scream and shout If you’re gonna work this out Change comes when the water falls I’ve been waiting for you to come down by the river Original: I agree someone on this team needs to embrace editing and the time it takes to rethink a lyric. I don't know if this is Warner being tight fisted or what. I'm trying not to look at the lyrics too closely tbh because, I may be wrong on the author, but they have the whiff of chinatown about them... I like your lyrics better because too much modernity in the lyrics dates the song very quickly, unless you're a virtuoso like Bob Dylan...which clearly nobody on this team is lol

What is the big problem with the lyrics? I like the celebrities and money sucking MPs part btw. I can see that people have a problem with it, though. But I don't see why it is such a big deal. It's not the end of the world and Gallagher lyrics never claimed to be taken too seriously either.

Yeah there are some Gallagher songs which have pretty senseless lyrics but those weren’t written for them, so are more authentic. Liam has had a few now, I don’t want or need deep lyrics from Liam, I can look to other artists for this, I just want better than the cheesy “celebrities” “MPs” and “device” parts. The River, without Liam’s vocals, is an average song at best, possibly a 3 or 4. Liam’s voice changes everything for me, a 9, and those lyrics definitely bring it down. Yep shannee it’s another Wyatt one.

This came on the radio while I was just in the car..... God bless. I know you're not the biggest fan of Liam's solo stuff, so I hope you didn't swerve into a ditch or run over a cat while trying to abruptly switch to another radio station when "The river" started blaring out the woofers of your car. Safety first. You seem to often drive through wooded areas by the way: out of curiosity, do you carry a shovel in the trunk of your car? Just asking...

That pic actually taken on a road called 'Cat Run Road'. It's in the middle of nowhere......the kinda area where the residents have like five cars drive by a day....I always wave if the people are outside, and they always wave back.....kinda gives the ok, and they know I mean no harm. I don't always travel with a shovel, but I do always travel with a bottle opener.... Mercí.

Very average song, maybe even a bit weak. It sounds like it belongs on DOYS, which is not a good thing as I cannot stand that album.
If the rest of the album sounds like what we have heard from the first 2 songs, Liam could be in trouble, as I cannot see this album appealing to a wider market. Compared to the new direction Noel is pushing towards, Liam's is starting to sound rather old, tired, dated.
The fact that this new song is lacking in a strong chorus makes it stray into Beady eye territory too.

And the pain in your eyes belongs to a strangerYou would change my favorite part No, I wouldn’t, it is what it is and if it’s fine with Liam it’s fine with me 😊. I was just playing around with it to see what could be done in a few minutes whilst changing as little as possible to make the lyrics more bearable. His voice makes the song, but that’s usually the case. I wouldn’t listen to much of his work if it was someone else on the vocals. What is interesting with this one is the vast differentiation in opinions and how the people who have commented on the lyrics all seem to have different favourite lines.

I have a problem with the "money-suckin' MPs" line. It's fine to be political, but do I believe that Liam has any idea what an MP's job is or how much they're paid? No. And I'm sure an MP's salary pales in comparison to whatever Liam and almost every other very high earner manages to legally avoid paying the Treasury with expensive accountants, who also earn a lot more than an MP.
It plays into the kind of rubbish that gets peddled about politicians being "all the same". All that does is disengage people or drive them into the hands of the Brexit non-party. Many MPs work VERY hard and offer something VERY different to some of their peers.

Could have been worse. The line could have been "money-suckin' NGs."
But I guess he's saving that for his Twitter.
