After about 6 plays, think I prefer this to anything off AYW. I loved AYW. Solid 8/10. Will be a storming live track too.

Give it a rest fella. I call for perspective all the time. Not once have I said that the same thing doesn't happen the other way round. Re-read my post. I haven't heard the studio version of Shockwave yet but when I do I'm sure I'll like it. Don't really care if it's 'Liam by the numbers' because he's good at that. I doubt it's 10/10 like others are saying but then again that's their opinion. Just like it's my opinion that HM is one of the best songs Noel's written. We're on a forum and everyone is entitled to one. My only hope for this album is that it isn't all 'Liam by numbers'. He has the voice and power to take it further than that, and the following too. Doesn't have to be space jazz, just don't want, or need, AYW mk II. I'm hopeful that it won't be. Either way, it's good to have him back (and those Spezials are boss). It’s not a 10/10. That would make it the perfect song, a song that belongs with the very best ever written. It doesn’t. Noel is a bit of a Tory twat btw. different forum for that isn't there... Then again I sacked off Labour in the last election. Useless sack of shites.

I voted Greens, purely for Magid Magid. Christ, wouldn't know who to feel more sorry for in that instance... He was in my local a few weeks back, the big freak. Hate the bloke. Anyway, I'm in Spain so hopefully I can now listen to Shockwave on Spotify. If not I'll give it a whirl tomorrow. From the live version I liked what I heard.

It’s been stuck in my head since yesterday so it’s an 8 from me. I understand what people are saying about the ‘heys’ though. I felt the same about the ‘yeah’ in Greedy Soul when he sings it live, it’s pretty cheesy to me. I hope I don’t feel the same with this after a while.

Usually you’d feel more sorry for him, under normal circumstances, but his German wife was there so the sympathy should go to her waking up to xenophobic prick every morning.

What a banger! Finally something with more edge that suits Liam's voice. Can't wait to finally hear it live.

Well, there you go.

He's one of the biggest pricks this country has produced and we've produced quite a few.

Everyone let's all download from 12:00 on Amazon digital or itunes.
We can make this huge. If every single fan downloads it and also buys the vinyl.
Also streaming on spotify goes towards the sales. It'd be great if Liam had a number 1, I know charts don't matter but 99p from each fan is nothing.

How about quickly reverting the flush mechanism of the toilet to make it uhmmm, explode in his face? 😉 Oh and, talking of pricks, how are you coping with the perspective of having the second blonde buffoon as Prime Minister?

I find it interesting reading the differences of what parts of the song people like the best. Some like the chorus, some the verses while some dislike the chorus or the verses and vice versa and all that.
For me its
Bridge Middle 8 Chorus Verse
I see a lot of the verse is classic Liam. But I think the bridge is classic Liam. The bridge sounds like vintage Liam in the 90s, the voice that at one point was the best voice in the world (not saying this bridge is a direct comparison, but its the closest we can get these days).
The whole Liam snarl thing doesn't ring classic Liam to me. It rings "Liam's voice became shot so he began snarling because it was easier." The verses are very Eyeball Tickler/Man of Misery-Like Liam. That Liam is not classic Liam, that is Liam can no longer sing like he once could Liam.
The verses don't do much for me but the way the rest of the song explodes is amazing. And to me the verse is the least important part of a song anyways, so that's fine. This is an 8.

Thoughts on first listen:
- VERY similar to Wall of Glass. The harmonica, bass, melody and structure are all reminiscent.
- Good vocals from our kid, he sounds sweet on the bridge and biting in the verses. I like the HEYs, I think they'll go down a treat live.
- Riff isn't any special but it's stompy enough.
- The song overall just goes to show how incredibly important good production is. The songwriting is solid, but the song sounds so energetic, catchy, and replayable because of it's great modern production. This is exactly how solo Liam Gallagher should sound, and the fact that he should have gone this route in 2011 is clearer than ever.
7/10 on first listen. Not as melodic or cool as Wall of Glass, but that's okay, that was a special song. Good lead single and something I'd be happy to play to people as evidence that the Gallaghers still have it.

8.5/10, round up to 9.
Fucking banger. Great tune, if it was a bit punchier I might chuck it up a star or so. Liam sounds unreal though.
