Sorry if discussed already but, this lyrics are about Noel aren't they? I think they’re about Andy Bell. Liam said that in a recent interview. Lol

Last night the lyrics changed a bit from the studio version. He sang “girl” a couple of times, as per the demo. “You could have looked for the sunshine girl..” http://instagram.com/p/ByXqTCbl7Pd

The verses are pure Oasis-like attitude, and while the rest isn't as good, it's still enough to make it a 7.
Those "hey's" sound really bad though.

People do that with Noel's stuff too. Apparently Holy Mountain is literally better than the Oasis classics. Numbers mean different things to people, and everyone's scale is different Holy Mountain (imo) is genuinely up there in the top 10/15 songs Noel has written though. I haven't heard Shockwave studio version yet so can't comment, but I liked the live version. I don't know if Mouth is a troll or not. But he has a point that people do tend to sway more towards 'Liam is amazing' if he puts out a bog-standard track, compared to if Noel puts out a bog-standard track it's 'Noel's a tory twat' etc. Anyway, glad Liam's back. I'm really looking forward to hearing Shockwave in its entirety. I don't really want to enter the debate of a Noel song in a Liam thread but the whole Masterplan album litteraly sh*ts on Holy mountain and it's only b-sides, so already 13 songs better than holy mountain which is a sh*tty ripoff of plastic bertrand. (and a sh*tty cringy song in general)

It's a 6 for me.
Too Liam by numbers for me to rate it any higher. It's a catchy but predictable rock song, kind of bland because of this. Can't believe he needed the help of corporate songwriters to, in his own words, 'perfect' this song, he's been writting this since DBTT.
And those lyrics... Someone should tell Liam he's not 16 anymore.

Disappointed by the chorus since the first snippet.. the HEY part seems lousy and a bit cringey tbh.. WOG sounds far better

Read on twitter that this is originally a Liam song which u can believe given the daft lyrics. However it avoids the structural problems his songs usually suffer from so you can see the influence of the other two. Good fun song for me. A solid 8.

Imagine if this was produced by BRMC, and they were his backing band.

Ladies & Gentleman, this is the best rock song of the 2019 so far. Cheers 9/10 Hmm, I’ll have to give that some more thought. I thought Fountaines DC’s “Boys In A Better Land” might be the top pure rock song of 2019. Super super early. Who knows.

I based my vote on his solo stuff only and gave it an 8. Pretty solid start to the new LP I reckon.

The 2nd verse and middle 8 have my favourite lyrics to any Gallagher tune since the split. I also LOVE 'maybe the shame will open your eyes' and the way Liam sings it.
Yeah, a shedload of production on the vocals, but so freaking what? This is 2019 rock 'n' roll, so why not slam it up to the max??!

Better than I thought from the leaks but it's still not doing much for me. I like the verses but the bridge is a bit awkward, I'm not into the chorus and I'm not convinced by the middle eight either. It all feels mashed together.
It's a 6 from me and some way down my list of favourite Liam solo songs.

Really enjoying this. Chorus isn't doing much for me but the rest of it makes up for it. Very Liam by the numbers but I don't think anyone was expecting or indeed wanting any progression from the style of As You Were.

I'm really looking forward to hearing Shockwave in its entirety. You’re living in some sort of dream land. The lack or perspective is huge. Firstly, mouth is a troll, has been for years. Not because he prefers Noel to Liam but because he really doesn’t like Liam at all and regularly posts here to get a rise. Secondly, if you think the same thing doesn’t occur in the other section you are either naive or blind. The suggestion that it’s just Liam fans that celebrate something many consider average is stupid. Over the last week the same thing has happened that always happens. There’s the trolls that crawl out that want Liam to fail, that are bitter about a strangers success. There are the big Liam fans and those who look at it dispassionately and critique the song as they find it.

While I couldn't be less surprised by tour reply,I'll answer tour question. I'd say, the meaning of soul. Is it less strucured, less tailored, yes. That's probably where he had help. But it's a sleazy, dirty, scruffy, simple rock song with a bluesy feel. Even the theme of the lyrics is similiar, about some purity of soul that rises above someone else's crooked values. Granted, the female divinity in Noel's songs is boring and generalistic. This is boring and too childish.
