These are the sort of songs Liam was made to sing. I don't know how you can't enjoy it if you're a fan of his. Mouth isn't a fan. Liam could release literally anything and he would be here saying the same old things. He's here for the troll. i'm just being realistic. flick of the finger is 9/10, sons of the stage is 9/10, come back to me 8/10, i've all i need (i would consider it his best solo output) 8,5/10, but the majority of beady eye and especially his solo stuff is rubbish or, even worse, cringeworthy (for what it's worth). i find it completely ridiculous, that people rate that song 9/10 or 10/10? what do they rate live forever then? or slide away? again, if you compare this song (or any other song on as you were) to oasis standards, then most of them wouldn't even end up as a b-side. i wonder what people around here would rate pass me down the wine or won't let you down, if they would've been released on a liam solo album. "10/10, awesome songs!!"

This and a few songs off AYW are better than songs Oasis albums especially post Be Here Now Shockwave is better for me than Force of Nature, She Is Love, Nature of Reality, Magic Pie, GOYHHL, Ain’t Got Nothing and others. Because Oasis put something out doesn’t make it sacrosanct. And I like Oasis throughout their career tbh.

Numbers mean different things to people, and everyone's scale is different Out of curiosity, I just checked the "Rate Holy Mountain" thread, and I found that there were 19 votes for a rating of 10. While I understand that personal ratings are subjective, I can only deduce that, unless it's a windup, these 19 voters regard "Holy Mountain" as among the best songs ever written...

"oasis standards" refers to their best outputs as a bench mark. i'm not saying that everything realeased by oasis is awesome. nature of reality is aweful. one of the worst things i've ever heard.

All in all, the song is great. I just don't like the HEY'S. They scream 'commercial production'

I "like" the song up until the middle eight and then I love it.
the song does building the right way imo, it really ends on the highest point.
overall the only thing I could do without is the "hey"s, its just feels abit tacked on and I think the song would be just as good without them.
Id give it a 9, maybe an 8.
postives being the chorus, the middle eight and the vocals.
negatives being the "hey"s and the questionable lyrics in places. Liams voice and the instrumental save the lyrics tbh, there isnt a really a line in there I could quote for being amazing. As a result its not a 10 because its not perfect.
I like the start to this cycle though, hopefully once will get some good reviews as well tonight.

What's not clear? It's a POLL. Is there a 10? Do I love it a LOT? I give it a 10.
It's a fuckin' poll. It does not mean it's better than Wonderwall, etc.
Relax.

Easily a 8. The verses are great for Liam, being a BRMC rip-off or not (I guess everyone using the same stomp is ripping off some old blues artist. And Spread Your Love is amongst my favourite tunes, so no complaints here). Chorus is catchy, bridges are good. This is very solid. Nothing groundbreaking, but it has LIAM GALLAGHER written over it, which is pretty much what people want. You get the stomp, the sneer, the energy - I'm happy if the album is on this level.

It's 200% Liam. Which is, precisely, what fans want. Imo. You've just completely proved his point.

Liam at his best, at the first words he sings i'm impressed already.
Biblical.

I haven't heard Shockwave studio version yet so can't comment, but I liked the live version. I don't know if Mouth is a troll or not. But he has a point that people do tend to sway more towards 'Liam is amazing' if he puts out a bog-standard track, compared to if Noel puts out a bog-standard track it's 'Noel's a tory twat' etc. Anyway, glad Liam's back. I'm really looking forward to hearing Shockwave in its entirety.

I can't see it being as successful as 'Wall of Glass' but it's decent enough. You don't exactly need the liner notes to hear who's behind it. Thankfully the genuinely raw guitars and harmonica combo (as heard on 'Wall of Glass') save it from being landfill fodder for me but it's not really my thing. Sounds like it'll be played at bars a lot... Hmm
