Nah of course they bring him back otherwise it wouldnt male sense to include him in the trailer. He was at the star wars convention aswell so i highly doubt it I really wouldn't like that, it could be nice to tie the three trilogies together but it would diminish Vader's character arc. I read some speculations on some Star Wars forums that maybe Palpatine isn't really back physically, but maybe as a Force ghost/vision, or maybe he put a plan in motion in case of his death (so he is "never really gone" as the trailer says, but not necessarily back to life) and there could be some artifact to recover from the second Death Star which Kylo Ren and Rey are after, I would prefer that. Other than that I really liked this trailer.
There's a strong theory out there that would make Palpatines return make sense and would not diminish the OT trilogy and Luke's deeds.
The theory surrounds the word 'balance' and what it means to bring 'balance' to the force. It's commonly accepted that balance means to vanquish the dark side. But it may be that one cannot exist without the other. If the light side exists, then so must the dark. The imbalance then would be when one side gains too much power in the universe and overpowers the other. For example, The Jedi Order at one point vanquished the sith (mostly). This created an imbalance that Anakin solved. Which itself brought an imbalance in the amount of power the Sith then held.
Meaning when Luke destroyed Vader and Palpatine, or at least, ended the totalitarian rule of The Empire, Luke brought balance to the force for quite awhile. But, there must be balance, so he cannot completely destroy the dark side. Palpatine lived somehow. Maybe Snoke was his puppet. His apprentice. And Palpatine was once again wanting to convert a Skywalker to the dark side, using Snoke to do the dirty work so that Kylo would eventually kill him and assume his position, with Palpatine pulling all the strings. He succeeded again.
And now that Luke is dead, the last living Jedi, Palpatine emerges from the shadows, because there's no Skywalker left to stop him, the only line of force users that seem to be capable of doing so. The only one left is Kylo who's already corrupted.

Killing Han Solo in Episode VII was a mistake. ¡No spoilers! Thanks.

I like that theory. but i did like a lot of theories before TLJ came out and they were all way better than what RJ had in mind. Sometimes i wish disney would hire fan-writers, they do a really good job most of the time. i even thought the jar jar binks is a sith theory was brilliant

With the last jedi I could understand why people didn't like parts of it. This one, honestly people are just looking for flaws at this point. The hardcore star wars fanbase are a fickle bunch to say the least. I can't wait to see it again, and I feel bad for those who don't like it, must be frustrating being them.

It’s just rushed storytelling overall. Cramming so much in in such a short time. Film moves at a breakneck speed. They didn’t need to introduce the emperor again, felt so random and abrupt at top of the film. No explanation at all for his return and basically erases all the good deeds done in Return of the Jedi. Now the emperor had a son? And he murdered him? This movie still works if it’s just the first order taking a firmer grasp over the galaxy. Keep the baddies Kylo and Hux. Plus the Hux Flip was weak and his death even weaker. First Order came from the unknown regions but look out, we got multiple empire off shoots hiding out in the unknown regions. Now every ship has a Death Star cannon. Gimme a break. A 1000 star destroyers? Who build them? Who is crewing them? Who are the people in the black robes in the gladiator arena? There is so much more bad storytelling in the movie. But just look at all that I just spoke of. That is a mess and there is still more bad writing and execution. Am I just looking for flaws still? These are major issues. In a final film you should be closing loops. Not opening them.

These are major issues. In a final film you should be closing loops. Not opening them. This is what happens when you dont have a clue what this trilogy should be about and everything is written on the fly. its shocking that a billion dollar franchise like star wars has a meta level in which both directors redcon the other ones vision within the movie. the last jedi - well fuck we dont need lightsabers rise of skywalker - lightsabers are important, here take two of them its pathetic. this whole trilogy is even more pointless than the prequels. i dont really like the MCU but at least there was something the movies build up to. this trilogy feels like three stand alone movies where they added the underlying plot in post production. that being said, i thought rise of skywalker was an ok movie. it was extremely difficult to do a follow up to the last jedi and yeah and it was messy and the more you think about it the worse it gets but i had a good time watching it and it wasnt a total disappointment like the last jedi.

So let me get this right...
Luke knew about Palpatine and had a map to him, but instead of fighting him decided to spend 30 years on an island drinking milk from a weird alien’s tits?
Pervert!

It makes you realise what an achievement Infinity Wars and Endgame were. While hardly risky they took more chances and were far more coherent than this set of films. Force Awakens had so much promise and this is where it ended up.

Force Awakens had so much promise and this is where it ended up. And it’s no wonder Lucasfilms brought in Kevin Feige to command some Star Wars movies. This franchise desperately needs direction and quality control. You can’t let Twitter, Reddit and fan service run things. Stick to a vision. Something this new trilogy didn’t have and that is shocking. It didn’t bother me in 2015 when JJ first said there was no real 3 movie arc, it should have worries me deeply.

It’s just rushed storytelling overall. Cramming so much in in such a short time. The first 15-20 minutes was like watching one long trailer with how often they cut from scene to scene. I get that part of that is because they were trying to work Carrie Fisher into it, but it felt very abrupt and choppy. They really needed like 2 or 3 more movies in order to fully explore, then tie together, everything that they were trying to address/answer in this film. However, they were never going to do that since Disney somehow did what no one thought was possible: give people Star Wars fatigue.
