Hey everyone,
I apologize for the request of assistance with illegal activity, but can anyone steer me in a direction that would lead to me being able to download an older version of Pro Tools (for free)?
Just to be clear, I am only attempting to go this route because I am not looking to use Pro Tools for its intended purpose (to record music), and because I wouldn't be able to use the latest version anyway as I use a Mac from 2009. Rather, I recently made a record in a recording studio whose software of choice was Pro Tools, and I'm trying to promote the record by posting snippets of unique mixes of the songs online (instagram.com/tolanitheband). For example, for a song's chorus that includes guitars, drums, bass, vocals, and piano, I posted a clip of that section with just the vocals and piano. I was able to do that because I was in the studio at the time. I'd like to continue this practice but I really don't have the disposable income to afford the program.
If asking this sort of question is beyond frowned upon and is, in fact, disallowed, by all means, remove this post from the archives.
Thanks.
thuper

thuperthonic I f you're unlikely to buy/obtain a copy of the software any time soon, maybe would be best just to go for the free trial offered on their site . Then I'd prioritise exporting/mixing down the files you've got in the Pro-Tools format to a more open non-proprietary format like a wav, flac or similar that you can actually use without needing the Pro-Tools software once the trials. If you've already done this or used up the free trial, then sorry that this advice won't be of much use Alternatively, there are a number of free DAWs available on Linux from what I've heard (LMMS sounds well respected in particular) and I think Reaper (available on Windows) has a free version, so if you've got a bit of time spare to try out a few different DAWs, you might find something more tailored to your needs & better value. Although, you'd need to get the raw audio files out of Pro-Tools first.... :\[EDIT : Sorry, just read it again, didn't notice it was for an old version :\ Guess this won't be of any help..... Although by the sound of it, the main thing you need is just enough access to Pro Tools to get the raw audio files out, so would probably be easier (and more legal) to just find someone you know with a more modern computer that could handle a free trial of the latest Pro Tools, and then export from that asap]

Might require an older OS X possible 10.6. Some newer macs can't roll that far back, which you might have to buy mac pro 1,1 or something in order to run an older os. Windows I used to use ACID Pro
