When explaining talk tonight Noel did not mention Melissa Lim or San Fransico. He talks about how it was based on his trip to Vegas. Now they could of edited that part out to be fair. I may very well be wrong (and I know someone will correct me if so), but I believe in the book Getting High by Paolo Hewitt, the story is that he met a couple on a plane to Vegas after the disastrous gig and they (especially the woman) talked him off the ledge and he wrote the song after that encounter...

So annoying they interrupted most of the songs.

Has anyone noticed Dead In The Water around the 44:38 mark (Youtube video)? That's so funny.

You don't even need links here - it's pretty easy to find a full copy so I don't know why there's all this whinging.Go to youtube. Do a search on "noel gallagher lifetime".
Still not happy with the rules here? It's pretty easy to set up your own forum. Then you can add all the links you want and see how you go. Good luck.

U can also get it easily on your phone or pc and choose only audio if u want by adding pp to the youtube.com/xxxxxx so it would be youtubepp.com/xxxxxx. This opens site that people can use to get audio of live shows etc. to their phones and stuff.

Really hope Noel does an acoustic tour at some point. Small venues. Get a live album out of it. X

When was this filmed? Presumably inbetween the CY and WBTM tours? Just assuming that based on the version of wonderwall he played and that he was far nicer than he has been lately talking about Oasis Great show though. Nothing beats seeing that man with just an acoustic guitar.

This is, probably what happened (merging all the different reliablish accounts together). - Whiskey A Go Go gig goes wrong (as featured in Supersonic - crystal meth is consumed). This was the 4th or 5th gig on the US tour, not the 1st, as Noel claimed in the interview. - Noel leaves the tour the next day. Goes to San Franciso. Stays with that girl (as mentioned in Supersonic).. - Nick Abbot (I may have got that wrong?) traveled to San Francisco from the UK to get Noel. From there, they went on a bit of a 'fear and loathing' esque bended in Vegas. They met a couple their, the woman said Noel looked like George Harrison. Something along those lines - Noel wrote Talk Tonight and It's Good To Be Free during that period. Both of those songs, plus Half The World Away, were recorded in Austin, where Oasis had booked studio time.

This was brilliant, great to finally hear while the song remains the same live.

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but hadn't seen it in this section and can't believe i missed it till now! Remember when he played this and no recording surfaced at all. While the song remains the same first and only time live, riverman acoustic, listen up stripped acoustic...! Not my upload, just pointing the way. They include talking over some of the tracks though (thankfully not on while the song remains) which is criminal!

I don't recall Noel claiming it was their first american gig, just him kind of "up playing" the importance of whisky a go go... Was Owen Morris touring with them at the time? He seemed to have been there going by the doco. I also re-watched the fear and loathing thing, I guess it was Tim Abbott. Apparently Melissa Lim knew him previously. I wonder if Noel is aware of to what extent she's been already identified. Everytime he talks about it he gives loose excerpts of the story, but never the complete thing. I remember some years back (maybe on the Russell Brand radio show?) he talked about the origin of the name of WTSMG even alluding to the fact that they had been calling each other for some time after that. I guess it's fair to say he does remember her, he does know her name, but doesn't want to go into ir and far less have people digging that up to its full extent. As private things go, I suppose that's fair enough. Anyway, many, many thanks to whoever Uploaded the full "once in a lifetime" thing to YouTube. We wouldn't have easy access to it anytime soon otherwise.

So yeah, not their first gig in the states

Really nice show. I like listening to Noel talking about his songs, even if he isn't saying anything new.
