Probably be more of a "We Got the Power" than an "Up&Up".

I've posted about this in "Your High Flying Birds thought" thread earlier today as well.

From what I could see of the liner notes in this picture, Noel plays harmonium on 'Books', and on 'White Horses' doing something (can't make out what).

Excuse my ignorance, but what on earth is a "space hammond"?

Read a Weller interview in Q earlier today - In it he was saying how liberated he felt singing lyrics written by other people on his new album. Interesting considering he piled in on Liam along with Noel when AYW came out as Liam didn't write all of it.
Seems to be that Weller and Noel can have collaborators or co-writers but Liam can't

Weller [...] piled in on Liam along with Noel when AYW came out as Liam didn't write all of it. No, he didn’t. You’ve just made that up. Also, stop being so sensitive. Who d’you think you are, Liam Gallagher?

Is his contribution actually audible?

I think it was Noel who named Paul Weller as a songwriter who wrote all of his own material. ”I’m offended by singer/songwriters who when you scratch the surface don’t do any f—ing songwriting,” Noel told the Sodajerker Podcast last month. “As far as I’m aware if you scratch the surface of any solo artist in Britain and they’ve all got a team of songwriters behind them apart from me, Paul Weller and Johnny Marr, I’m struggling to think of anybody else. Richard Ashcroft, Our Kid (Liam) all the way to f—ing Ed Sheeran and the little fella from One Direction they’ve all got an army of songwriters behind them.”

Is his contribution actually audible? I've been listening to True Meanings again and again since last Friday. To be honest, I can't say that I can hear much of Noel's part of these 2 songs.

as for "books" he's playing the harmonium, it's basically a portable pump organ, used lot's in psych music, Nico used it a lot on the marble index and desert shore. The beatles used it in their psych phase. It's the instrument that sounds like an accordion/flute organ, you can hear it come in around 0:26,it has a quite droning sound. so there's weller's voice, lucy rose voice, acoustic guitars, strings, sitar/or tambura and the harmonium which is noel.
As for white horses i guess the space hammond is the organ lying under the track and rises in volume from about 3:50, it sounds a bit like a mellotron. "space hammond" is just an expression for a hammond organ with a bit of reverb and echo.

Ah, I thought space hammond would be some "kewl" name for a hammond organ with some effect.
