It's Kanye, he says stupid shit. Let's be honest, he knows fuck-all about politics in any meaningful way...I'm willing to trade up to five stupid tweets each album cycle as long as he continues to be the greatest artist in the world. Just because the tweets are related to conservative thinking doesn’t make them stupid

And if you know he's no fan of conservatism, why would you take issue with him calling it stupid, or disagreeing with it?

Kanye West makes himself even more unlikeable each day... I didn't think that was possible

Kanye doesn’t blindly despise Donald Trump... millions go crazy. It’s amazing how tribal-like people are.

I don't care who he supports, all I'm saying is that he's adding more unlikeable characteristics to his already unlikeable self. and some people still kiss his ass. that's blind

I still love his work and generally love him...but this is a rough day. The Kanye of his first three albums, who wrote funny and relatable tracks, who wrote about racism, the minimum wage, being broke, and loving his mother the Kanye who saved his genre by making it likeable and genuine again, the Kanye who called out presidents for racism, the Kanye who was aware of his genius but still in touch with normal people...that Kanye would give this Kanye a slap.

I guess now I know how Morrissey fans feel...how could someone so in touch, so outrageously talented and likeable in their own way, become so detatched from everything he used to represent? Her family cryin', they want her to live, and she tryin'I'm arguin' like what kind of doctor can we fly in?You know the best medicine go to people that's paidIf Magic Johnson got a cure for AIDSAnd all the broke motherfuckers passed awayYou telling me if my grandma was in the NBARight now she'd be okay? But since sheWas just a secretary, worked for the church for 35 yearsThings 'sposed to stop right here?!I miss that Kanye

Donald fucking Trump is antithesis of everything Kanye used to stand for. Seeing a picture of Ye in that fucking hat, even if he says he's not political or republican...it's horrible. Absolutely no way the old Kanye would be anywhere near Donnie, and this is from someone who prefers his newer music.

He went out on stage on SNL with “Not for Sale” plastered on the background during Black Skinhead... while feuding with Nike. I wouldn’t take his opinion too seriously. He’s having a political awakening

He's been hypocritical about superfluous things before, but wearing that hat is a direct betrayal of many of his previous core principles. I'm disappointed in him, even he thinks he's doing it apolitically.

You’re so accustomed to every celebrity in America being super liberal that the idea of Kanye even thinking twice about Donald Trump rubs you, and many other people, the wrong way. Chance the Rapper also just tweeted, “Black people don’t have to be democrats.” Are you ashamed of him too? Do you expect all black people to have the same mindset? Don’t you find the idea of that racist?

Don’t you find the idea of that racist? I'm not a liberal or a democrat, I don't give a fuck about any of those centrists and I wouldn't want Kanye to be one, but at least they're not Donald Trump. At least they're not racist billionaire morons who surround themselves with climate-change-denying white supremacists and call African countries shitholes while failing to denounce murderous neo-nazis. The fact that Kanye is anywhere near that hat is a huge disappointment to me and most of his other fans not because it means he's not a fucking liberal, as if anyone but right-wingers care about those, but because it symbolises all of the ignorance and bigotry and division that Ye has always stood against. I'm hoping that Kanye is "just" loving Trump because Trump used his arrogance to do what everyone said he couldn't, which has basically been Kanye's artistic MO from day one. The difference being that Kanye is the most inflential creative mind of the century and Donald Trump is a conman. Ye's tweeted that he's not Republican or Democrat, which is good news, but still I'm bitterly disappointed that he's allowed that quite shallow comparison to negate the other, more meaningful things. At the end of the day it's Kanye and only time will tell.

Is the better alternative for Kanye to be “aligned” with the a Democratic Party? What have they ever done for him?

It has to do with an artist who has always stood for black empowerment, creating intensely powerful and racial-focused art, giving such casual and superficial support for a racist and bigoted president who directly contradicts what we naturally assumed were his principles.

But it has everything to do with political parties. Kanye is being shamed for being black and agreeing with someone conservative/republican. The bigotry of low expectations that non-conservatives (mainly liberals) have towards minorities is a much more common form of racism found today. You expect Kanye to think a certain way, because of his color. That’s racism.

It's not about liberals or democrats or conservatives, no-one gives a fuck about those. It's about an artist who has made racially empowering art suddenly donning the symbols of racist bigot of a president who ran an entire campaign on bullshit and division and fear, seemingly betraying his integrity in the process. I know American right-wingers can and will twist anything in life into being about "liberals" and democrats as if they're some left-wing force intoxicating precious 'murican values, but you're arguing with yourself on this one.
