yeah, kane is the one this time around that will disappoint. hes a very good/great out and out striker, but those kinds of players, more than most, need a class midfield to set them up...he cant tap in his goals if the rest of the attack doesnt press enough.

Get your cash on Jesse Lingard to be top England goalscorer at the World Cup 33/1... and he'll probably only need to get 2

I’m a strong believer that the manager of a national team needs to have the same nationality.
If the players need to be of the same nationality then so does the coaching staff. It boggles my mind that this isn’t always the case.
I do identify as a traditionalist in the traditional sense.

Hmm it seemed very soft and the player looked like he was already going down before contact. I thought the system was for clear and obvious incidents. I think if we start giving penalties for incidents like this then football will soon be no contact.

The Italy player is already falling over and Tarkowski steps on him without breaking his stride. I don't know how many refs would have given that, they all seem to have their own interpretation of the laws of the game. Are we gonna stop the game for every minor infringement for VAR. It just seems to be causing confusion and delays at the moment. Not looking forward to it being used at the World Cup.

If a player of Ronaldinho's class gets it on the wrong side of the net to where he intended then I think you can call it a miss hit and if someone mis hits the ball and it goes in then thats lucky.
Shearer was an idiot, trying to get away with the sort of thing he was doing in the premier league. Had he just kept his arms down we would have gone through, we were the better team in that game though.
Two encouraging performances in the last week though, nice to see an England team look like they are enjoying it, plenty to do still. Btw people step on each others foot all round the pitch, sort of comes with the territory, not all of them go down like they've been shot and play often continues. Its a natural coming together, no intent. I wasn't surprised it was given.

As an England fan, here are my rankings for the last 5 World Cups: 1. France ‘98 2. Japan/South Korea ‘02 3. Germany ‘06 4. South Africa ‘10 5. Brazil ‘14 The previous two were diabolical tournaments all around. Nothing was worse than South Africa, NOTHING. I don't care if we went further, the England Algeria game was one of the worst I've ever seen.

Also England had a tough group in Brazil with Italy and Uruguay and I don't think we played that badly. South Africa was awful though. Capello had lost the players and the performances on the pitch showed that.

If it were up the other end, there'd be no complaints. Penalty the correct decision.

Wasn't a penalty and the fact even the Italians were waiting to take a corner rather than appealing I think said it all. Only the referee thought it was a penalty

I'm more excited about the Panini sticker album than I am about England's prospects in this world cup.
Most likely dumped out in the last 16. Quarter finals if we're very lucky.

I do get the feeling England will go out in the group stage. Panama will be the surprise package in this World Cup

how thats not a penalty is beyond me. its clumsy defending, stones? stepped on the italian players foot while the other defender runs right through him. i get that the VAR isnt perfect but thats the right decision, you shouldnt blame the refs for not winning against a weak italian team

He is essentially running alongside him. He also starts to go down before as it looks like he's lost control of it. VAR is for the obvious ones, that aint one of them.

I didn’t watch the match because who really gives a toss about an international friendly?
But I did see the VAR incident on YouTube last night.
It is slightly tricky because the England geezer did trod on his foot....HOWEVER the Italian muppet was already on his way down, so no penalty IMO.
Also, VAR sucks. It’s ironic that its very purpose was to bring fact into the game but all it does is create even more controversy and uncertainty. Get it out of the sport.
