Better team won. No complaints. We simply don't have the player to link the midfield and the forwards.

Good game. Kane should have scored in first half, Croatia would have struggled to get two goals back in normal time. They always looked dangerous though. Hope they win the final.
That game sums up what I think is Southgate one serious flaw as manager. He is meticulous in preparing the team and they start off strong but later in the game when the other team makes changes he never seems to be able to respond effectively. So many times I watched his teams look like world beaters in first half but fail to put enough daylight between them and the other team only to throw it away in the second half.

Well done Croatia, from second half onwarda they were the better team. Very proud of England. It's coming home (bronze)

If England had a player half as good as Modric in the middle of the park they’d be a right good team, what a magnificent player that wee guy is.

The future for England is looking good.
World cup semi finalist with a young squad.
U20 world champions.
U17 world champions.
And Gareth Southgate has a lot to do with that youth setup. Anyone wanting to dismiss him and England as lucky might be in for a shock.

Anyone wanting to dismiss him and England as lucky might be in for a shock. If we had one great midfielder and people to replace Young and Dier (not been impressed by what I've seen of either) then I think we'll have a very competent squad. Not world-class, but really good. Anyway, great world cup from England, I hope France win the final and Mbappe scores. He's the real deal.

England finished in the top 4. Arsene Wenger would be proud.

It was shit and mentally draining but cos Croatia were quite clearly better, it's easier to take. Euro 96 killed cos we weren't inferior and we were good enough. (Albeit I was 7 lol) Our open play performances weren't good for most of the tournament.

Is a bronze medal at a World Cup really worth nothing? It's worth nothing compared to a final, but in 50 years I bet some of those players would be glad to have a medal to show the grandkids. And it would be a nice way for both teams to finish the tournament on somewhat of a high, going out of it with at least something.
