Been to London two or three times; don't intend on going again. Manchester's not much to look at, and there's nothing you can do there that you don't do in a hundred other cities around the world, but the people are good. In London, everyone's so tired from being bustled around all day that all the warmth and humour gets zapped right out of them. bustle? Dude...hustle n bustle is a Londoner and a Londoner has all the warmth n humour, heart n soul you could never find elsewhere. The problem is a lack of actual Londoners. The suits tend to be total bollocks.

bustle? Dude...hustle n bustle is a Londoner and a Londoner has all the warmth n humour, heart n soul you could never find elsewhere. Maybe in some parts of it out in the traditional working class areas, I do find that especially. But generally there's absolutely no comparison to the personable atmosphere. I live in London and I go to Manchester often for work duties, and Manchester is so much more friendly. As is Liverpool, although Glasgow tops all cities in the UK for its friendliness. You may get lots to do in London in the 'hustle and bustle' of it (i.e. heading more central) but nobody acknowledges you, nobody speaks and everyone exists in their own little world. These small matters accumulate over time and it is a thoroughly depressing experience where people seem to exist rather than live. It's a very individualistic mindset for many London dwellers and if you make a network of friends you'll be fine. But the small social customs and the communal way of life that go vastly unappreciated in life certainly make up the character and values of many a northern town I feel. That's why bands like Oasis could never have come from London. Agree with a lot of that, I don't think I could ever live there but I do love the city. I think I have it just about perfect, 45 miles north. Short train ride.

Oasis’ Hello lyrics aside, I really am influenced by the weather and probably do have SAD amongst my other diagnoses.
The dark, cold, and wet weather of Manchester is not appealing but it’s summat I’m going to have to get used to, I suppose.
London’s weather is actually pretty decent. I’m not to keen on Manchester’s. Sigh.

I live in London for circa 2 years in the mid-90's. There are indeed lots of things to do and see, so from that point of view it is a great place. However it is also a very overpriced/expensive place and full of arseholes. I've been to Manchester several times over the last few years and it is a great place, great people. I went down to London last summer for a weekend, the first time I had been back since I lived there and the biggest thing that struck me about it was how dirty it was, rubbish lying all over the place, total shite-hole. So, if its somewhere you wanted to choose for a year or two at Uni, then Manchester wins hands down. Of course if you had any sense (aye right), you'd have looked to go to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee or St Andrews as these trump anything you'll find in London or Manchester .

I’m still 6 months away from Manchester - if I even make it to begin with...
But last night I was looking at transit between Manchester to London:
The train is only 2 hours, but too expensive. Aint anyone got money for that.
Coach is around 5 hours, but is cheap AF.
Has anyone taken the coach between Manchester and London?

Virgin Train takes you from London to Manchester for 2 hours, but they are very expensive indeed. You shouldn't buy a ticket on the day you'll travel, but buy an advanced ticket. It'll save you fortune. My friend in Manchester bought me those advanced return tickets London - Manchester twice and it was like 20 Pounds for a single ticket.

Will MANCHESTAH love Beady, or will Beady be told to fuck off back to London (or worse, America)?

Not going to lie, this looks fucking mega. England is so much better than the US in every single way. Then you add all the facts to the argument and I'm really starting to buy into Manchetah: Since 2000
Spurred by the investment after the 1996 bomb, and aided by the XVII Commonwealth Games, Manchester's city centre has undergone extensive regeneration.[44] New and renovated complexes such as The Printworksand the Corn Exchange have become popular shopping, eating and entertainment destinations. The Manchester Arndale is the UK's largest city centre shopping centre.[47] Large sections of the city dating from the 1960s have been either demolished and re-developed or modernised with the use of glass and steel. Old mills have been converted into modern apartments, Hulme has undergone extensive regeneration programmes, and million-pound lofthouse apartments have since been developed. The 169-metre tall, 47-storey Beetham Tower, completed in 2006, is the tallest building in the UK outside London and when finished was the highest residential accommodation in Europe.[48] In January 2007, the independent Casino Advisory Panel awarded Manchester a licence to build the only supercasino in the UK,[49] however plans were officially abandoned in February 2008.[50] Since around the turn of the 21st century, Manchester has been regarded by sections of the international press,[51] British public,[52] and government ministers as being the second city of the United Kingdom.[53][54] The BBC reports that redevelopment of recent years has heightened claims that Manchester is the second city of the UK.[55] Manchester and Birmingham have traditionally competed as frontrunners for this unofficial title.[5 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester
